The impact Ohtani has on the world of baseball is beyond what you see on TV. He is redefining baseball not just at the big league level.......but all the way down to high school. Players, teams, and coaches are now thinking....can this guy be a future star hitter AND pitcher?

Usually the quality of dual threat pitcher/hitter starts from mediocre to getting better. But Shohei is at his peak. This is doesn't happen or won't happen again for another 100 years. We might see lower quality players doing both but never at Shohei's level.

The only pitcher in the HISTORY of MLB able to make up for any single run or even more that he may give up from the mound with just one swing of his bat. And my GOD what a gorgeous swing he is blessed with. This Man CANNOT be real. Yet…there he is doing it on the reg. And I can say I was alive to see it. What a time as a fan of MLB it is to be alive.

@@anthonymartinez0865INACCURATE! You overlooked a key thing I said there. “On the reg”. I would never ever take anything away from Grenke. I was telling my wife not two weeks ago that he could’ve pulled off at least some of what Shohei has been afforded the opportunity to achieve which Zakk was never given, even when he asked for it. There were quite a few that could’ve done it. Smoltz comes to mind. VERY good hitter he was. That entire Braves rotation of the 90s were. Especially Steve Avery. Maddux and Glavine knew Chicks dig the long ball way before any of the Shohei frenzy. But they did not and COULD not have succeeded as a power hitting DH. They just couldn’t. Grenke does come the closest though, I would agree. I love that Guy! I stand by my original statement. Fight me…as the kids like to say

Ohtani is one of the greatest athletes of all time, some compared him to Bo Jackson and Dion Sanders, they played baseball and football not at the same time, once the season ended they would switch to playing that sport, Shohei is doing both at the same time. And although what Bo and Dion did was amazing, they were'nt great playing both like Shohei is dominating pitching and hitting, Bo and Dion were an average player in baseball but was really good in football, and a Pitcher is more valuable then a running back or a corner back. John Smotz said a Pitcher is like a QB in football that controls the game and the results.
