Great looking lamp! I really wanted to see the process for installing the rice paper.

Ist sehr leicht. Reispapier mit Reisleim fest kleben. Nach dem Trocknen das Papier fein mit Wasser einsprühen. Laß es trocknen und das Reispapier ist glatt.

I love shoji lamps.Made a couple small ones and a 2-1/2'x5' one. Learned alot from your demo,it has inspired me to do more and to try more difficult ones.Thank you,sir,for your inspiration!

Great video...I built a similar Japanese temple lamp about a year ago. When I installed the lamp socket support I did not glue it in, instead I used screws this way was easier to install the paper, then screw the support in afterwards. Thanks for the great video!

Very cool I like the Asian inspired look of a lot of your pieces which I love instead of straight lines all the time. Awesome video!!!

Beautiful design love the simplicity. I was hoping for a few shots on the rice paper application. Did you wet it when applying? Any chance of a mini tips type video showing how you did do it?
@GarageWoodworks
@GarageWoodworks 6 жыл бұрын
+Brian Prusa It was pretty easy. I didn't wet it. The trickiest part was getting the glue where I wanted it with the paint brush. The paper was cut with a guillotine type slicer. I pushed the paper into the rabbets with a pencil eraser. The last sheet was the hardest to do.

Beautiful lamp. About 15 years ago I went online to see about buying a pagoda lamp and was astounded at the prices. Most were in the $350-$450 range. So I built my own. I don't know hoe to send a photo or I would. Mine is much more delicate than yours. My posts and rails were only 3/8" square. It's posted on my Facebook page somewhere:) also I used green art glass because I couldn't find any mica sheets for the shades.

Very nice. I wanna build one of these for my mancave/PC room. Was wondering, I've had issues with glue in the past where it squeezes out, stains don't take to the wood well, even if I wipe the glue with a wet cloth. I always find myself having to lightly sand back and forth at that spot to try and get it to soak in. What do you do to avoid this?
@GarageWoodworks
@GarageWoodworks 5 жыл бұрын
I never use stain. If I want a dark piece, I use a dark wood. ;)
