Shokz has just announced the OpenFit Air, its latest open-ear, loop-style headphones that pump sound into your ears without blocking out the world around you, ideal for running, cycling, and even wearing around the house for listening and phone calls.
As this is a sponsored video, it's more of an overview than a traditional review, but after three weeks wearing Shokz's 2024 OpenFit update, let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer. After all, even though this sponsored video's over, I'm not going to stop using the Shokz OpenFit Air because they fit into my podcast-loving life like a glove, are great for phone calls and last for ages.
A huge thank you to Shokz for sponsoring this video. If you're thinking about picking up the OpenFit Air, by using this link: shokz.cc/4c5ygCI I may earn some commission to put towards future videos.
Also, thanks to Alex Waker-Todd who filmed some of the clips by the stunning St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London. For more on his camera work and journalism, visit linktr.ee/alexwalkertodd.

Could you compare them to the Huawei Freeclip? When would you wear or prefer each one?

I'd definitely like to see that comparison too

Noted! Briefly summarising what it would look like, the FreeClip are more of a fashion statement. Audio-wise, the Shokz have more depth and more consistent sound when both were in standard EQ, likely owing to the additional size. I love that the FreeClip case supports wireless charging, Shokz's case doesn't. Both are good for calls indoors, the Shokz OpenFit Air are better outdoors. Despite being smaller, the FreeClips have better battery life. Personally, I'd get the FreeClip if I liked how they look, but practically speaking, and for exercise, the OpenFit Air from Shokz gets my recommendation. Let me know if there are any questions in particular you want answered.

Stability is an under-rated feature. I nearly lost one of my XM4s on the Tube the other day, when it was packed and I got a backpack to the face. The Shokz would be perfect!

You don't need to buy it. The OpenFit Air likely have similar sound quality as the audio hardware appears to be the same, however the Air they may be more comfortable depending on your ears. If you're happy with you OpenFit, you should be okay to stick with them though. Basil

No, actually, the Air runtime is one hour less on paper than the OpenFit.

Do you think someone who wears an in ear hearing aid could wear these at the same time?
@tech_edit

I have no experience with hearing aids so couldn't confirm, but I would say it depends on the kind of hearing aid. These headphones don't go in your ear, they hover outside it. So provided the loop doesn't interfere with the aid, it should be okay. I will put the question to Shokz though and let you know what they say. Basil

Adding to this, I got this respons from Shokz when I put the question to them: "It depends on the type of hearing aids, the headphones are ear-hook style and suitable to wear at the same time with hearing aids if there is space at ear. With Bluetooth, the headphones need to be paired with a device to play the music via Bluetooth. We would suggest you can contact the support team of the hearing aids to confirm the function. Moreover, there are plenty of retailers with in-store demos, we encourage you to give them a try. Kindly see the retailers here:uk.shokz.com/pages/retailers"

The original OpenFit sounds better to me, in terms of richer, fuller sound with more focused bass response
