Shootin Shell Fanner 50 Guns Mattel Toys 1958

There were dozens of westerns dominating the television airwaves, throughout the fifties and early sixties and there was no boomer way you would watch Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Lone Ranger, Wanted Dead or Alive, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, Annie Oakley, Sky King, Maverick or Tales of the Texas Rangers without your own personal set of cowboy hardware to roll play along with your favorite TV heroes.
I have great memories exploring the vast western territory known as my Brooklyn Neighborhood fighting off the bad guys with my Shootin Shell Fanner 50 by Mattel Toys.
I was lucky back in the 1980's to talk Mattel Toys into letting me restore part of their film archives before the ban on showing toy guns took hold. Don't worry in other posts I show those great Winchester rifles.

Two things they forgot to mention: (1) You and your friends would most likely be shooting each other at point blank range; (2) Once fired, your shells could take hours/days to retrieve. Many thanks for some great memories!!

I had one. The gun and the holster. It was the greatest toy gun ever. I played with that for years. The cylinder turned with each hammer cock and it fired the little plastic bullets just like it shows on the video. Great fun. I wish I had one now for my grand son.

Mattel made great toys. It is shame they don't make toys of this quality today. The cap guns were wonderful for young boys to play for hours. They also had the shooting shell Winchester and snob nose 38 detective gun.

I was at a large flea market back in 1973. I was a kid, but there were two slightly younger kids running around in cowboy hats and toy cowboy guns. They met up with each other right by me and spoke for a moment. Then one of them said he was going to check the other side of the flea market. As he started running, the other kid said, “Don’t forget to shoot someone in the next aisle!”

I don't remember who made them but there was a variety by the name of Johnny Eagle. The head 3 different versions of rifle pistol combination sets that you could buy. One under the name I believe of shafari, With a scoped bolt action rifle And I believe it's scoped automatic pistol. The second was a set of Western, With a lever action rifle and A standard sex shooter. And the third shit and in my opinion the best Titled the lieutenant. This one came with an M14 rifle And a 1911 GI pistol. All of these were fully functional rifles and pistols and came with snap together bullets. We love those things. Just too bad kids can't be kids anymore.

I gave my nephew a H and R 22 revolver that was wore out , out of time cylinder. Brazed the barrel and each chamber of the cylinder so it was impossible to load and fire . The turd took it to school and when the teacher saw it she pissed on herself . This would have been around 1980 in Alabama . 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓

The plastic bullets were clipped into a spring loaded cartridge. The hammer hitting the base of the cartridge was enough to dislodge the bullet.
@HootOwl513
@HootOwl513 19 күн бұрын
@@larryisabell1127 The [Shootin' Shell] Projectile had two long stems that compressed a strong spring inside the Brass Casing. There were two locking lugs at the base of the Projectile that locked into a rim on the inside of the cartridge. The locking lugs, 180* apart, were slightly ramped on the sides. When the hammer struck the end of the casing, the forward motion was enough to depress the lug sides of the projectile in a tapered chamber, and released the spring's kinetic energy -- propelling the Projectile out the barrel. Maximum effective range was about 4 meters.
