In my archery class, they gave everyone their bows based on dominant hand and kept having to correct me because I was subconsciously trying to aim with my left eye. So they had me test my dominant eye by making me form a triangle with my hands look through it and tell me which eye I could see the symbol with. So I ended up using the wrong kind of bow until the last 2 weeks of class xD

I can appreciate your attempts and this video. Many years back if I was to continue shooting recurve I had to switch from right handed recurve shooting to being a "southpaw" shooter because of injury. It was very difficult and challenging at first the switch took a long time, but, I stayed with it because I love shooting recurve. My mind had to make change and eventually did and when that happened my left hand shooting became easy, as like second nature. I only state this to encourage those seeking to make this switch. I had a brain tumor in 06 that has my right side completely numb (including my arm and hand) so I am now forced to be left handed. I am excited to try this out and go to an archery range. A lot of things have been taken out of the pool of recreational possibilities because of my hand so this is definitely a 👍🏽

I will be switching from right-hand compound to left-handed horse bow as I am left-eye dominant. I can shoot cross-dominant with sights, but instinctive styles require me to go back to my dominant eye. I have shot left-handed barrow previously and got on quite well, but you are right in that you have to retrain absolutely everything. It will make you a better coach as you'll better appreciate the left-handers out there.

I know this is an entertaining video. I do have a cheap left hand riser with 5 lb lower retired limbs as a balanced muscle training. From half the distance. That helps.

I recently discovered im left eye dominant but right handed. I think I'll need to hit up a shop and get fitted for my 1st left handed bow. It'll be interesting.

I will be switching from lefthand to righthand shooting soon. I've actually tried this with rifle shooting. Your eyes are fighting for dominance.... talking about a headache! Lol Now, at the range, I'm able to alter to either with no problem. Thanks for the video!!👍🏽

I don't mean to make anyone angry, I really don't I swear, but I'd like to see you upload a video of you using the lefty bow WITHOUT the sight, stabilizer, OR tab. I'm genuinely curious wether someone can still use a basic-ass bow after relying on all the bells and whistles for so long.

Anthony, different isn't it :-). My wife is left handed so I can relate. I shot her left hand recurve or I should say I tried shooting left hand. I shot it quite a bit so after a while I didn't do too bad so if I had to I could change but it is different. Don't give up I expect the next video you will be shooting some good or decent scores:-). Yep after 5-6 years I found I was left eye dominate in 2002 or 2003 in the middle of my first summer rec archery program where I had been using a right handed bow thinking I was supposed to go off my dominate hand and at the time as a kid when I first started with glasses on in 4th grade after a year without but needing glasses in 3rd grade, I was neither eye dominate. So I know how awkward it was the first few times but after that I got used to it, the nice thing is I could with left relearn how to shoot better so I was not wrapping my hands on the bow as bad. So I could if absolutely need to shoot 35 pounds and under for my right side since I used up to 30 pounds on the right side but I could not use much more for a bow on that side where as my left I am starting to get to 40-45 pounds. With some Dual rest older Fiberglass Bows I can shoot off the right side gripping the bow left and make the target though not nearly as well as shooing on the correct side but I can hit the color rings and in on a target.

I was hoping you were going to shoot the left handed bow right handed(normally). I'm a lefty and I just ordered a cheep right handed bow to shoot left handed. It's the top archery metal riser recurve. They don't make a left handed model. The grip is symetrical and I don't anticipate any problems shooting it left handed. I shot my left handed bow right handed and felt like you did. Yes very "Funky", but I didn't see any problems sighting or aiming down the sight window except that I had to actually close my left(dominant) eye.

YOU DIDNT MENTION #1 FACT:Dominate eye test needed/because dominate eye will not deviate from point a:eye to point B: target/but the non dominate eye :will always be like -2 inches wrong from a to b!!!! with excetion of rare case- you use either hand equaly: and you cant hit for chit ever ! :>)

Switching off once in a while could be a good training experiment, but might play havoc with brain/muscle memory. One of the bows I own and am pleased to be the owner of is a Ben Pearson Strato Jet, 40 lbs believe it to be 60's vintage. It is an ambidextrous fiberglass bow and I have had fun occasionally shooting it left handed (or attempting to). No results that are worth mention, however. Fun video. She's a lefty, does that mean she is in her right mind?

I shoot a left handed bow and I'm right handed but I shoot the exact same way I shoot my right handed bow without changing up anchor arm or anything and I'm just as accurate only difference is the arrow being on the left side of the bow.....hed be just as good with that bow if he didnt chang up which his anchor arm or bow arm shoot the same way you shoot the righty dont change anything.....you could consider a lefty bow a eastern style bow due to they shoot with the arrows on the left of the bow instead of the right....right handed ppl can use a left hand bow the same way as a right

I'm just about to buy my first bow, a compound bow. I am left handed, but do alot of things right handed, throw baseballs and footballs right handed and so forth. I do write left handed and am proficient with firearms 100% lefty, so my left eye is either naturally dominant or trained to be. Even being a complete newbie it seems as if it would be more natural for me to draw right handed and train my right eye. Us lefties are strange creatures. Most tell me, including a few archery shops, if I am left eye dominant I should shoot left handed. I'm not sure it will feel natural though. I know I can't throw a ball 4 feet left handed even though I am supposedly left handed....what are your thoughts? Become accustomed to a left handed draw or shoot righty?

I have learned to shoot with my right hand when I was a child, but I bought my first left handed bow like a week ago, cuz I am crossdominant. My arm is bruised like hell and I feel happy hitting the target, but I'll keep grinding arrow everyday.
