Ken M, Thank you for your reply. We try and keep filming as short as possible as we have very limited range time. Regards, G and L A-R-West FHBSA

Your rifle is in nice condition. In the US the Egyptian rolling blocks we find show many years of hard use. Again an excellent presentation.

Hypothetical question: if you were a soldier in the late 19th century, and you had a choice of going into battle with the Egyptian Remington Rolling Block rifle or a Martini Henry rifle, which would you choose?
@MrGarwest
@MrGarwest 2 жыл бұрын
Samy701, You pose a very interesting hypothetical question. A hard one indeed! However, both have their merits. Cleaning the bore is straight forward with the Remington and has a lighter recoil which is less distressing with continuous shooting. But as for choice being and being British - the Martini-Henry. We hope this answers your unusual and mind provoking question. Regards, G and L A-R-West A-R-West FHBSA

Is this the .43? Does this cartridge fit a Werndl?
@MrGarwest
@MrGarwest 5 жыл бұрын
Choda Stanks,Yes 11 mm. A Werndl cartridge will not chamber in a 43 Remington Rolling block.Regards,Guy and Leonard A-R-West

I've heard the dutch .43 Beaumont can work. I don't know if you're in the US. Gunbroker sells the brass sometimes under X-Ring Services. He's on facebook too. I'll be getting my 43 egyptian brass and next month some 43 beaumont brass. I'll be comparing them. I've heard I can use .45acp dies to seat the bullet, but we'll see soon. The dies for the egyptian is too expensive.

What distance where you shooting and how was the group size? Also nice looking rolling block rifle, it looks like the 2nd contract Egyptian model.

Guy and Leonard A-R-West Nice shooting, I did enjoy watching you shoot with the bayonet on, the blade started out nice and bright and got more black as the shooting went on. Bayonets for the Egyptian rife are hard to fine. I got lucky when I bought my rifle from Sarco Arms about 25 years ago, when you purchased the rifle from them you could get the bayonet for about 30 dollars more. I haven't shot my rifle in a long time, now I will have to get it out of the safe and head to the range one of these days.

Matthew Billy, Thank you for your comments. Good to hear that you are to be heading to the range with your Egyptian rolling block. Try shooting it with and without fixed bayonet to gauge how it performs. Let us know your results please. Regards, Guy and Leonard A-R-West

I see the Chassepot Bayonet, Was it these Egyptian Rolling Blocks that were used in the Franco-Prussian war or was it the Spanish ones?
@MrGarwest
@MrGarwest 4 жыл бұрын
Just My Name,Yes it was the.11 mm Egyptian Rolling Block used during the Franco-German war with a similar Chassepot type bayonet which does not fit the Chassepot and vice versa.Regards,Guy and Leonard A-R-West FHBSA

if you're in the US, gunbroker sometimes sells brass under this guy X-Ring Services. He is also on facebook. Gunbroker sells actual ammo but it's crazy expensive. I'll be getting my brass soon and I've read that i could use .45 acp dies to mount the bullet. I hope to make a video on it.

The remington rolling block rifle has the strongest receiver of any single shot of the day. Mexico chambered theirs in 7mm mauser smokeless powder.

@@ChodaStanks I am a part time gunsmith. The remington trolling block is the strongest. Followed by the Shiloh sharps and trapdoor and we can not forget the Winchester falling block. The Shiloh was mostly .45-70. That is what mine is made in 1869. But I have seen them in 50-110. Lots of power and chamber pressure. The rolling block is the olny receiver that can handle smokeless. I load mostly black powder FFg. For rifles.
