For anyone using over ear muffs, please try thee gel cups if they are offered. They are much more comfortable and worth every penny.

That was probably the most important video of yours I’ve watched. Your gun reviews have become a much watch for me but after 40 years of pigeon/ pest control stuff I’ve recently got hooked on clays and suddenly developed hearing problems. I’d not considered the possibility that my quality over the ear muffs were being compromised by now wearing shooting glasses or that stock and muffs making contact with each other might also reduce the effectiveness of the muffs. Embarrassed to think that hadn’t occurred to me - a light bulb moment - never too old to learn.

Two negatives I experienced with the muffs. When the muffs sits on top of the stems of the shooting glasses, it tends to make the glasses press down on my nose. That is very uncomfertable during a full day of shooting. The other thing is on a warm day, you sweat all over the muffs, not very pleasant. Got the proflex+ last summer. The sound quality is as you say not as good and natural as the muffs, but the comfort and practicality is much, much better. And you do get used to the sound of them after a while. If you do get them, get them with the bigger battery. Then you don't need to change them so often

I've got a set of decibullz, they've got the Xmas tree type plug and they mould to ear once you warm them up in warm water, very comfy, and you can hold a conversation while wearing them, around £40, I would highly recommend if you're on a budget.

Hi there, I have a few questions, I’ve been shooting for a couple years and I’ve been wearing some emtec passives ones and I’ve never seemed like the gunshot has been loud with them in, however you’re meant to get them changed after a few years when you’re young as the ear changes in size more drastically. So I had another set made for me and I tested them out and they just didn’t seem to be very tight fighting around the bowl of ear and ever since I’ve been really sceptical about shooting cause I have sensitive hearing already so I decided until I get something that works I didn’t want to shoot. So I had several sets made and they all seemed very lose fitting like if I pressed the plug in more at the bottom with finger I noticed everything went quieter so I knew this wasn’t right. It feels like my ear shape isn’t designed for these things cause I’ve had 4 sets done from emtec and a set from cens (just the passive ones) and every time the noise seems to leak in. They always feel very lose bearing in mind with the emtec ones all the impressions were done by them and also when I sent my impressions to cens they were done by a professional place. Like when u look at them in my ear they look fine but the noise seems to be reduced when I press them in and there’s a drastic difference which suggests they’re not working but I feel like it must be me cause I don’t see how they can get it wrong collectively 5 times. But anyway my main question is as I want to protect my hearing to oblivion, are the 3M classic foam plugs ones fine for shooting cause I’ve heard they don’t protect the bowl of ear? And also would you say there’s any need to double up for outdoor clay shooting? See I really would like to be able to use the emtec and or cens but I’ve lost all faith in them, I know with foam plugs you get the protection cause the way I put them in especially u get a really great seal in the canal but although I’d like to be able to speak to people I’d rather not and be safe cause it’s rather the same outcome when I get new custom silicone moulds done. I’ve tried with the vacuum as a way of testing and when u press down on the spot where the sounds getting in it’s get reduced until u release finger.
