Very well put video with awesome edit, the commentary part with the noise of the street just adds another layer to the whole experience. I really like how remote it is from the traditional KZfaq narrative and filming style. If you ever wonder : YES ! More of this please. Some yellow thin subtitles would have been a nice complement to the 80's documentary vibe we all noticed and liked.

I like to pretend that I'm fiddling with the camera settings when I'm taking pictures, or I have the LCD screen flip up like I'm a tourist taking video but really I'm just taking pictures. When using film, on a Yashica MAT, I'm always looking down. So, people don't get startled or even notice that I'm taking their picture. Even though I get a lot more frames to shoot and it's alot easier to reload the camera, still not a fan of 35mm

Well done awesome video! I'm going back now through your other stuff, Eduardo, and am enjoying it very much! One comment on the discussion of folks deciding not to photograph homeless people though - It isn't "censorship," it's a decision to not exploit vulnerable human beings who already have no access to privacy - a decision not to use them as scenery, in order to get likes or followers on Instagram. I don't think anyone would have an objection, however, to a photographer who gets to know a homeless person and uses photography to tell their story. I think the distinction is in asking what is my motivation? and, am I taking advantage of someone's suffering for my own personal gain?
@edpavez
@edpavez 5 жыл бұрын
I think that taking pictures of homeless people is wrong. It’s not a nice thing to do, and usually “street photographers” who do so are seeing as taking advantage of subjects in extreme cases of vulnerability. Not cool. The point is: by seeing how this is not nice, you decide not to take pictures of homeless people (kind of “censoring” that phenomenon)... but sometimes a homeless person can be in a photo without it being the focus of it all: maybe it’s just operating as another human being and not an ambodiment of the curiosity that comes from your bourgeois approach towards poverty. I have an image where a homeless woman asked fire to a guy wearing a suit, and I took a picture of the moment his lights her cigarrete, and it’s a nice picture, and it’s not treating the other in a manner that produces disrespect or curiosity, but it’s just an interesting action connecting two very different people. People who live on the streets also have lives, and you don’t need to censor them just because you want to be “decent”. Sometimes the decent thing to do is aknowledging the humanity of the other, admitting their presence without turning them into a spectacle. That’s the idea.

hey trevor, so are you avoiding addressing all the claims people are making against you just to get your name out there even more? you know, like bad publicity is better than not publicity. or did you just fail because of whatever reasons, and think it's better to avoid the issue you created instead of simply addressing because it would mean having to be a real person. either way, i hope all of this is sitting okay with whatever moral compass you have and that you're doing okay. but then again, maybe you're just a product of the environment that you were raised in and you haven't figured out a way to break out of the cycle that affects broken people in a negative way, in a way that makes you think it's okay to not be held accountable for your actions.

Photography is about failure.....or about using 30 rolls for a lucky one good image? I don’t get it. In this video looks like taking good ones is about luck.... I respect it, but film is expensive bro..
@edpavez
@edpavez 5 жыл бұрын
As I understand it, it’s about failure because getting a really good photo is extremely hard. If you see the conact sheets from any big street photographer, there’s usually one or two amazing shots per roll. The message is not “shoot whatever and pick the one that works”, but “shoot the best you can and you will still only get one or two great images, because this is hard”.
