I am right hand left eye dominate. Found out in a shooting class. Went to eye Doc, today, a couple years later and duck hunting came up. Doc is also a duck hunter. He said I need to shoot both eyes open or teach my right eye to be dominate when shooting. Go shoot clays and block out left eye. Did some practice pulls with shotgun this afternoon. Left eye still wants to be the go to eye.

I'm right handed and left eye dominate. I've always just closed my left eye. I would love to hear someone explain how much of a disadvantage this is for me and why.

For me I have no problems closing my dominant eye (left) and using my non-dominant out of convenience. Honestly I hit more shots with my non-dominant eye.

Are there any resources on KZfaq to help you learn to shoot a rifle or shotgun with your non dominant hand? I see a lot of handgun videos but that doesn’t help me.

I'm right hand, left eye dominant. I shot with both eyes open using my right eye. It still doesn't feel right I have been working on my left eye. I find it more comfortable to move my pistol over with one movement to line up with my left eye when I draw. I have notice when I shoot with my none dominant eye (right eye) my shots shift to the left.off target. Adjusting to my left makes up for that shifting which put my shots on target and less stress. Try it when you're at the shooting range.

I hear you man. I'm right handed/ stance. And left eye dominant. But I can only close my right eye. So ive been praticing a left handed stance. Feels extremely akward though. And im a faster draw right handed right stance. Hopefully practice makes perfect.

I'm right handed and right eye dominate. Explain that one. Lol. It bothers me greatly. I can't close my left eye very well without my right eye squinting.

I'm left eye dominate right hand dominate and all my life I thought I was right eye dominate and made myself shoot with it when I got to school shooting sports they found out I wasn't right eye dominate They wanted me to learn to shoot with my dominate eye but instead my mom made me a patch to ensure I shot with my dominate eye closed enabling me to shoot with my non dominate eye
