My first shop tour. I’ve been in the shop for about two years and i’m going to be moving soon, so i thought now would be a good time to do my woodworking shop tour.

Making the best of what you have, We sold our bar & restaurant and slid into retirement bought this property with a nice out building 30 x 40 ft. Thought it was so big some how it is full. Shop is never too big, organization is the key and not saving every odd piece of wood.

I actually like the idea of having the welder setup under the bench. I always put it away after use and it's pain bringing it out. I was thinking of making just a trolley, but now I think I'll make a trolley that's higher that can roll under the bench. Only trouble is when I use it outside, I have to drag it across grass so I might have to find some much larger castors.

Your spread out over several rooms but your total square footage for shop is quite generous. I'm thankful to have half the space you have, but I have three times the number of tools. Everyone's shop needs are different depending on the projects and functions that they perform.

My "shop" is a converted 14'x12' storage shed across the straight on little ole PEI. A shop tour for me would be a 10 second slow spin while I stand in the center.

I would be a little sad for after getting a space setup to a certain way for a shop just to turn around and do it again. I wish I had a shop. I know I need one for sure. Hopefully next year I can get a house built and I can finally have a shop. Currently my shop is a small 4ft x 4ft (If that) closest.

00:08 Where the hell is this? Montana / Texas / New Jersey / Vermont / California (no that's BS - too cloudy, no palm trees..) / Maine .. 03:33 But where is that obscure grey door lead us? 2nd part of the shop / stock storage .. just curious, you know.. 03:42 Ahh what a relieve. I feel so much better now.. Thank you, dude. 05:25 Why on Earth is that planer *not* on casters? Conclusion: absolutely lovely shop, except for *one* thing: daylight is missing. Make two or three breakthroughs and get windows in there. Thumbs up!

@Wordsnwood
@Wordsnwood 7 жыл бұрын
If you can't do a walkout, at least try for an extra wide *straight* staircase, to make getting things in and out as painless as possible... I would really prefer to not deal with stairs so a walkout would be my goal for a future shop as well.
@krtwood
@krtwood 7 жыл бұрын
When I finally manage to move if there isn't a shop space on the ground level I'm not even looking at it. But then when you don't have a family you can afford to look for a shop with attached living quarters rather than a house. It's amazing how many listings there are where there's twelve pictures of the kitchen but zero of the garage or barn or electrical panel. Where are these people's priorities?
@Wordsnwood
@Wordsnwood 7 жыл бұрын
No kidding... 20 years ago when we were house hunting all these ads would boast about their "finished" basement as if it was a positive thing... Yeah, that's my future shop, okay?

Hi there, you mentioned your distaste in having a hand tool workbench/assembly table that doubles as an outfeed table. I was wondering why that is the case? I have a small workshop as well and I’m considering doing the same as well. It would be great to hear your thoughts. You also said just an assembly table/our feed table is acceptable, so why is that ok but not a workbench? Thank you for the video!
