Hi Blair! Personally I mostly watch peoples long form and almost never watch short form. It’s all time consuming like you said. When I started my small channel I had to tell myself what the purpose of doing KZfaq was in general besides just liking makeup and that alone prevents me from overbuying. It’s a curated makeup collection for a specific reason if that makes sense. Have a wonderful weekend!!

i really like the idea of focus on the makeup u already have, it’s a great way to really make them worth. Also, you can always try and buy new makes when the product is something that you really want to try and have. Love your channel!! 🤍

I love makeup like the next, but using what we have is just as fun and rewarding, so please focus more on what you own already. All the people who’ve enjoyed you will continue to do so. Please don’t feel like you have to buy to make your audience happy. Enjoying what we have is just as exciting ❤

I actually am not a fan of review videos so I'm glad that you are deciding to use more of your stash. I thinks it's fine to buy products if you really want them, but please don't ever feel the need to buy any just for review purposes.

I'm Canadian....let me tell you about cold right now. It's violent right now. I'm sad about short content, I absolutely hate it. I never understand the point of it. Nothing is to be gained from the brief content. I do appreciate skipping new products always. Im happy with however many videos you can make per week. ❤

Blair, I love that you are trying to be very intentional about your buying. I need to be too and you will be a good role model for me. I find for me that a lot of what i buy this month is what i decide to declutter just a few months later, and what a waste! For your channel, i love your GRWM videos the most. I learn so much from you. You need to do what you have to do! I want your business and you to succeed and if less long form and more short form is how to do that, then do it! ❤

I love your SHOP MY STASH👍🏻👍🏻 I am trying to watch my spending on makeup for 2024 as I have enough and want to use what I have. I did buy a couple of Sonia G brushes from Beautylish a couple of days ago. Whatever you decide for your KZfaq channel will be great. Change is good. Love that you are being more selective about what you are bringing in to your collection. I am doing the same this year. I have learned that fewer choices means less overwhelm and more creativity for me. Still will try some new things but going to be VERY choosy so that I can use and love what I already have! Hey girl, love GRWM. It’s freezing here in New Jersey. It’s been snowing the past couple of days and it’s horrible. I live on the Jersey shore. When it comes to your KZfaq channel, you can do whatever you wanna do it’s your channel. If you want to focus on products you have in your collection that’s fine if you want to buy new stuff that’s fine too.

I’d love more Project Panning content from you. It’s a great idea to use your everyday makeup drawer as your Project Pan items. Maybe you could do a rolling Project Pan with usage goals instead of the goal being to completely use up a product. I’m really not in to short form content. I much prefer long form content!

I always get really excited about your foundation and concealer reviews that are like 2 day wear tests as well as obviously your corrector videos. I know the multiple day wear tests take time to film, but maybe if you do have to post less videos, you can wear test things in between. I think those types of videos make KZfaq unique bc you don't see them on short form. Getting more than just a couple shades in a blush/lip formula for example however seems like things that may not get you a return on investment, and go to waste in your collection, as we always gravitate towards our favorites! Just my opinion, not sure if it's helpful. I'll be watching your content regardless ❤

I love your “shop my stash” and your “every day makeup drawer” videos! Another video format I like from other beauty KZfaqrs is the “anti-haul” videos. Basically videos where they talk about new releases and why they don’t want them and show us products that they already have that are as good or better anyway. Also, I know you don’t think of yourself as a makeup artist or a professional but you know a lot more than most people watching your videos so I’d love more tutorial type videos from you too! I’ve seen some videos where KZfaqrs will watch a pro MUA tutorial or master class and then make a video of every thing they learned from that pro mua…those are some of my favorite videos. Of course I prefer longer format videos but totally understand that you gotta “play the game” and make some shorter form ones as well. Also though I’d love to see some Chanel reviews this year because this is a brand I’ve been particularly eyeing recently, especially their water fresh touch and tint and their highlighters!

Oh and maybe a Monthly Favorites type video where you pick your most used, favorite products from the month and do a full face. They don’t need to be new products at all, just a full face of what you truly used the most each month and you could even tie it into a project pan type thing. I dunno…🤷‍♀️

Hi Blair! This topic really resonates with me and based on comments below, I think you are onto something by wanting to shift focus a little. As one of your older viewers (70+) I appreciate your no-drama calm demeanor and practical ~ not dramatic or glittery-glam ~ makeup looks. It's not realistic to think you won't review new products, but I'm super-interested in finding the "best of" in each category. So, for instance, I would love to see comparisons of say, Foundation A for a week, with the next week being Foundation B, then a detailed analysis of if you had to pick just one, which one and why. We could follow along with you, and try our own Foundation A vs. B at the same time, and by the end of the year, we'd all have a better idea of what are the top 3 of each category that we would mostly always be reaching for based on performance on our own skin type ~ and thus could let go of most of the rest of it. Just an idea for a series ~ you could work out details how to conduct this, or get viewer input if or how they'd like to see these videos posted ~ like you could do out-take footage of application/close-ups at various times throughout the week and then sum it all up in one video ~ vs. some other method. Always remind us your skin type and your climate, as that can affect performance, too. Anyway, if Product A looks best consistently, do I really want to keep a load of inferior others around? Maybe yes if Product A is super-expensive ~ but you get what I mean! Thanks for all your hard work, it helps me so much!

Hi Blair, I'm a fairly new subbie - I'm a 50 y/o, married x 25 yrs, mother of 1 who works as a stenographer in a hospital. I have really been enjoying your video's, I love makeup and all the girly things, like purses, anything blingy, clothes, self-care like pedi's and skin care/masks, etc. I love the shop my stash video's. I am definitely on a no buy for makeup this year, as I have way too much - I probably wouldn't live long enough to use it all up. I love the bachelor too - all the reality shows I'm into. LOVE shop my stash! I loathe having things I do not use. Another sort of video of I find interesting is product pairings. I road tested some foundation with 4 different primers last week, and it was really fun and interesting. Also currently trying to find the world’s greatest under eye corrector/ under eye powder pairing. I’m going to bet you have a ton of both in your stash and have a lot to share about it 😊❤ love your channel

Most of us watching are usually shopping our stashes :) it takes not just money but time to always try new things and it can be risky. Haha. Project pan does not resonate with me. I put new product in with my everyday after the first impression to try consistently. Having new in there reminds me of recently shopping 🛍️ I don’t support TikTok for a lot of reasons but will see you here and on IG when you post 😊

I love makeup. But I’ve found what I love and use over the last few years. What I like to splurge on. What I know I consistently use. Invest more into that, same with clothes. I’ve stated a capsule wardrobe, and focus more on quality and what I wear, what looks good on me, vs reactive buying, as well for me, if I’m down or things are rough in life, buying something makes me happy. It’s not a healthy coping strategy. So I’m trying be most aware of that for myself.

Personally I prefer long form videos! All of the people I watch the most / wait for / look forward to make long form content. There’s something about short form videos that makes me feel like I’m just filling time without gaining much? It’s hard to explain but I never feel the same after watching them haha obviously I’ll watch the short form videos to support the creators I love but I don’t personally enjoy them as much! Everyone’s different tho and I totally understand that right now it’s a big part of growing your audience 🫶🏼

I totally agree, you don’t get enough info in the short form videos! It’s so hard to do a 1.5 minute review of a product and actually give helpful information. You also don’t feel like you know the person after watching short form either so I totally know what you mean

I’m in Kansas City. The high was 11degree. The low was 1degree. The windchill was -21 today. I like 15-20 minute videos. Shorts are ok but I get more out of the longer videos. I love this kind of video you putting and makeup and talking about it and other things. FYI I got NARS Madeline and it is perfect!!! Thanks for your help!

Please do more everyday videos! I live in South FL and mostly wear a no make up makeup look. I find it helpful when I can pick up tips from you on these types of videos. Whether you do short or long videos is a no brainer for me. I will continue to watch because you are just fab! 😊

I don't mind Instagram, but I don't like Tik Tok. I also don't like short form on KZfaq. I like to hear what you have to say, and see how you're doing something. I enjoy the time I spend with the few people I follow on KZfaq. I also really like watching the Batchelor and Bachelorette. I'm very excited for Joey's season. I hope it goes well for him, he seems really sweet. I have also wasted money on some bad purchases, and need to be more mindful. It's senseless to have to always move onto the next best thing, we should spend time enjoying what we have.

I agree with everything you said. It makes sense to be more discerning about purchases. Newer does not mean better. I watched very few videos about "The Best of 2023". I don't care about the best of a certain year. I want the best overall. If someone had done a comparison of 2023 Best vs Holy Grail, I might have watched that. I think your Monthly Makeup Drawer makes way more sense than a Project Pan. As far as long form vs short form, I prefer long form. I usually delete any notifications about "Shorts". There is no useful information in them. I'm sure it is because I'm an older demographic, but I just don't get the appeal of short form. But, I completely understand that from a business growth perspective, it is something you need to consider. I don't think any of your followers would hold that against you (I know I wouldn't.) We will still watch any long form content you can do. p.s. Thanks for taking another look at the Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift. Color Correctors are having a "moment", so I wondered how it would stack up against the newer releases. 😊

As a “watcher”, I prefer longer videos. Usually I listen before bed, or when I’m doing dishes, etc. Now, I’m 41 so I’m sure age group factors in. Short form I find I’m not getting all information I’m looking for, and it’s made for pushing product. As a business, you must do what’s going to get you or do what’s best business wise. Rarely does that correlate to what we want to do. I prefer long content. But again I’m 41, and I’m looking for information on how products perform and is it worth my money etc.

I'm wishing you luck with your short-form videos. I selfishly don't want you to cut down to only two videos but I understand why you are considering it. I was sad when Allie Glines also reduced to two. I just think maybe if you look at it like a full-time job is 8 hours a day it won't feel so overwhelming. Most people don't realize how much goes into being a creator on KZfaq. Honestly you just have to do what's right for you and that's the bottom line. In my opinion my favorite videos are watching people put makeup on so even if it's a favorites video I feel like people should show you applying their favorite not just talk about it. I'm here for the application and that's my favorite part. Take Care ❤

Re being mindful of purchases: your iwishlist idea might work. Perhaps u could refine it further by limiting how many of ththese u would likely do over 12 months,; how many sales u cover; how many brands; how many topics are unpredictable but u want to cover.; vacation; family matters. Then how much time do u ?? ❤❤wishlist

I don’t personally like short form makeup content. It contributes to our collective ADD as a society and a lot of content creators are just not good at it. They don’t mention shades they’re using etc. I have watched some of your short form content on you tube Blair, and you do a good job with it. I just prefer long form. I do love the idea of buying less makeup though. I get anxiety with channels that are using new products every video. The consumerism is out of control and I trust content creators recommendations more when they keep going back to their faves.

Not related, but does anyone knows a way to desable the product placement (the pop up box in the corner, not the links)on the screen like just for me not for the whole audience, like something i can do on my yt app or in the settings of a playing video like we do with the speed or image quality? Is distracting to me, it is a “me” problem i know, but i can’t focus in the video and i really enjoy her videos 😢

I made it, i always click the x on the first pop up and it usually works, but it didn’t with this video i don’t know if my phone, the app or what but i restarted the video 5 times and it didn’t work. I restart my phone and now clicking the x works again.

Nevermind the pop ups came back, maybe my yt app didn’t update properly or my phone is too old and is malfunctioning

Hi Blair! Maybe you could devote 2 days a week to longer videos and 1 day a week to a shorter form video. That way you’re still uploading 3 days a week but still devoting time to shorter form videos. Much love ❤

I still watch the bachelor and would like to hear your thoughts. I wish they’d cast more mature people. I think that’s why it’s gone downhill. Golden bachelor was kind of refreshing.

Hi, Blair! Hope you’re well. My sugestion is the Panning for Gold project created by @TheStyleStumbler. I think it was such a nice ideia to get to know and really use the things you already have. Basically the project is to use two products that seems to be very similar (in color, formula etc) for 10 times a month (for exemple) and in the end to decide if in fact they are too similar that there is no need to keep both in your collection and then declutter the one you like the least (or maybe both if the conclusion is that they are not similar at all).
