Menard's in the Midwest is getting that way. They have a bunch of display models. Then you go to the clerk in that department and he prints up a bill for that item. Then you take that to the cash register in the front of the store and pay. Then you have to get in your vehicle and drive through a guard gate. You cannot get in without a receipt that says you paid for something. Then you drive around back and show your receipt to another clerk and he goes and gets your items. Then you have to have your receipt compared to the items in your vehicle before the security guard lets you out. This is mostly for large items, lumber, appliances etc. But they're adding more items every to that routine.

This is going on everywhere. We see a lot of stores with plywood where the windows and doors used to be. Larger chains have their products locked up...like the home improvement stores. Also seeing more people with signs asking for money especially near the city. Tent cities popping up in wooded areas near sub divisions. Happy to be out in the country, but things seem to be escalating quickly. Take care everyone, stay alert!

I live near a CVS i Los Angeles. It has increased the number of locked cabinets which must be unlocked by an employee. But I have not observed any merchandise shortages such as the store in Washington, D.C. has. By the way, California Army National Guard soldiers protected it during some of the George Floyd related protests.

I too remember those days... and wondering what changed. I think you hit the nail on the head with "Lack of Respect" being a huge issue. Along with a loss of a "Moral Compass" to guide our society. These, I believe, are results of the redefinition of the 1st Amendment to make "Atheism" the U.S. "State Religion".

My father grew up in exactly that lifestyle, and he would the first to say that it wasn't as rosy as you liken it to be. He remembers separate water fountains, trains separated based on race, people being murdered and the state looking the other way, etc. Marital rape was legal in all the states. Peyton places were the norm, and not the exception. Disrespect was normal, and it was easy to spot on a daily basis. If you want to answer the question of if "are we really better now than we were" perhaps you should ask yourself much of a "Leave it to Beaver lifestyle" you would have been living if you were black. The answer is you didn't, and if you just happened to cross paths with the wrong person that could be the last day of your life. Ask Emmett Till, he was tortured and murdered for having done nothing wrong other than for the grave crime of being born black. That happened in 1955. So if you want to talk about morals and principles I think today we are far better now than when this nation permitted strange fruit to hang from the trees of Mississippi.

If you want to talk about how there is now a "lack of respect" and a "loss" of a "Moral Compass" please explain how a nation tolerating murder was more respectful and moral than it is today. As to your claim that the 1st Amendment is being redefined to make Atheist the "States Religion" it isn't. The reality is that Christians are learning that there are other religious views, and that they don't get the exclusive use of the state to push their religious beliefs. For example if a State Capitol permits private religious displays they have to permit all. They don't get to just say no because they don't like the religion.

The privileged class in DC also get to ride the metro free of charge. Metro wasted tax payer money on ridiculous new turnstiles because they don't dare say anything to the privileged class, but the offenders simply jump over the new turnstiles in plane sight and no one says anything.

The engine never really stops. The rotors do (I think they have a brake or something). It is VERY loud. My Apple Watch 'loud noise' alarm frequently goes off. I often decrease the audio in my videos -12db so you won't go deaf watching them.
