Shopmaster Mill Turn conversion and first lathe part run

3 жыл бұрынThis is a Shopmaster Mill Turn that I converted to Centroid Acorn controls running CNC12 software. The software and thus the machine can be run as a milling machine or as a lathe. I upgraded the drives to larger hybrid servos, added encoders to both spindles for threading, added home and limit switches, and had the table ground flat. I had also previously built a power draw bar for it.
This is my first part run on the lathe. It is a sample file from Centroid.

Very clean control work. You can hear the CSS (Constant Surface Speed) working thanks to the line driver differential encoder you installed. Post a video when you try threading or tapping. Thanks for sharing your work Terry!

Hello Terry. My name is Brighton and I came across my first lathe mill combo. I'm excited but very intimidated to get started. Mine seems to be an older model, but I was wondering if you could point me towards any info on how to get mine in good working order? Mine does not have the double column brace at the back, and that is something I know I want to upgrade for rigidity on the mill. It actually already has a cnc variable system on it that the shop I bought it from didn't ever install fully. I got it for pennies on the dollar and would love to chat and learn something. Thanks!

Good thing you got it for pennies on the dollar. I have a Shoptask Bridgemill Eldorado. Doing a cnc conversion on in Texas
