Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one that just out of the blue started having panic attacks when using escalators! Like you I don’t know where that came from. I was at this mall one day and I got to the escalator to go down and I couldn’t move, I just froze and panicked. There were two men behind me who were so kind and said, can we help you. And each one took my an arm and comforted me to the bottom. I was so grateful for their kindness. Afterwords I took the elevator back up. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos Linda! 💕

Another beautiful video, thank you for sharing your activities. And for being so genuine, showing the ingredient glitch and sharing the escalator concerns, as well the merch delivery drama! Better quality clothes AND household goods can be found in resale shops. Part of their durability is also that, prior to our “everything is disposable/replaceable” mentality, people took better care to preserve what they purchased. “Waste not, want not.” 😉

Willow is a sweet girl! LLBean is my favorite = I use their credit card and earn points towards purchases. I save them up and get something each Christmas. And Talbots is my go to store. You can take the girl out of New England but you can't take the New England out of the girl!

Dear Linda; Your Nantucket family is well known as founding fathers of New Bedford . Coffin Street is close to my neighborhood. 😊 The ham needs long slow cooking. Some simmer it , change the water to get the salt out. A soup was usually made next day after a main meal use. Then it falls apart with a long cooking and the flavors are wonderful from any vegetables that are added from the left overs . Mashing them in the broth and adding more fresh then simmer for hours .

Looking from your front door through the fall mums and beyond , looks like a painting!!! The colors look so soft, its almost unreal. I can't imagine being so blessed to sit there and watch the sun coming up. Love the recipes. The soup reminds me of one I make , but I use ham hocks which really flavor the broth... and I add cabbage at the end. Your son did an amazing job with Willow. That she didn't budge when he threw her duck was incredible! Very focused!

Lol I guess it’s a senior moment…that being said I just wanted to say what a blessing it is that you still have your mother I miss mine every day I used to call her and ask her about this and that, and sometimes I catch myself thinking I wish I could call her. She had a restaurant for 30+ years and was such a very smart, businessman woman and a great mom. Enjoy your time talking to her asked as many questions as you want to know…sending love, hugs and prayers and kindness with lots of positive thoughts. Another favorite video of mine. Thank you.❤

As a very young child, my mother gave me a little push to get me onto the down escalator...and I did a face plant...and surfed down on my belly, while she stood at top...LAUGHING! Yep, PTSD attack everytime I get on the down escalator! The up section allows me to stomp on and run briskly up to top...but I FREEZE when its time to get on the down side ...so I find the elevator to go down!

I'm so glad that your mantra is to enjoy fine living no matter how simple or grand that might be. Many of us who watch KZfaq channels can only dream of fine living in a grand style. You inspire me to enjoy the simple things of life.

the escalator fear is not a fear, but probably an inner ear thing. if the inner ear is off then your feel off balance and even the tiniest shift will give you a sense of fear because your brain is perceiving you may fall. going up it you naturally look up and that slight shift could do it. try looking straight ahead or slightly off to one side and keep your head as level as possible and see if that helps.

Hi again! I had to pause for my granddaughter, but I’m watching again. Tip for softening butter: use a glass dome (cloche) heat with very hot water, hot as you can stand. Dry and place dome over butter on a plate. After a couple of minutes, you’ll have soft butter 😊

Ive realized quality clothing is really the bargain buys. The materials, construction, fit plus mainly the look makes them worth the extra cost. Example, I have two basic Ralph Lauren tops bought years ago that still look great. Best of all, got them on sale at Macys

Ah, the soup looks scrumptious. I enjoyed your obvious disappointment in the department store offering. I had the same reaction to all the sequins and glitz in a recent foray into Dillards in Amarillo. Shopping is going to be difficult for me until this gold and silver leaf shoe/boot phase passes. I walked around wondering, "Who's going to buy this stuff?" Your shortbread bars look lovely. There are no signs you were a few tablespoons short of butter. Very handsome son you have there. Mine trains dogs too. But he teaches them to herd sheep and cattle. Another lovely video, Thank you! I had a glimpse of my extended forecast. My average first freeze is Halloween. The prediction this year is one day shy of that. We often have years with no freeze until Thanksgiving.

I heard of Ruth McKeany and Hungry for Home from Homeworthy a year or so ago and fell in love with her home. I then purchased book and fell in love with her. She's from Virginia! (Where I live) I recently pulled out her book to flip through again but I haven't yet tried any of her recipes. It seems very logical that you two are friends because you're both DIY queens! 😊

I can trace my dislike of escalators back to my child. One time while shopping with my sister and sister-in-law, they were each holding one of my hands while getting on the escalator. Problem was, one got on and one didn’t. So I was being dragged up the escalator by my sister, and being held back by my sister-in-law‘s. It’s one of those family stories that loves to get repeated. 😊 I too am purposely shrinking and in need of new clothes. I’ve also been investing in timeless pieces that are high-quality. I love your new jacket. I wonder if the upper pockets are hand warmers? I know that’s what I would use them for.❤ BTW - if you’ve never read the story of the founder of L.L. Bean, you should give it a try. As a businesswoman, I found it really fascinating.
