You can catch some large scup and sea bass in the morning try it out sea clams and worms also fluke I use a fluke rig with a strip of squid

Nice fish man! You live and learn on the release I don't think you did anything thing wrong. Caught one that size on a light rod last week (got a good video too! )Took no time with it and got it back and revived it right away. What I always say is you can't go wrong if you respect the fish you will make the right decisions.
