Very good, thank you, I enjoyed that. I'm a big fan of JJ North, English hammered coinage volume 1, that is my go reference book for short cross identification.

I dug up a lovely full flan Williom the lion hammered (my first hammy) in Henley-in-Arden then my very next hole was a short cross Henry the 111 cut half, it was a great days detecting, and warranted the 3 hour drive home!

I found a short cross yesterday and couldn't work out the mint but with the help of your video I'm sure it's a 7a3 just like the one in question 9, thanks!

That's a great video Luke and it must have taken some work to research and to decide what to include and what to omit. Thanks! I'm seeing the mints and the moneyers quite easily now but for the monarch I'll have to get the book. Even then I'll probably still be bugging you on the Facebook group.

Thank you Luke. I thoroughly enjoyed that, though I may need to study the a bit harder next time for the quiz. I am currently writing a historical post for the Facebook group on my Richard I short cross, and this really got me in the right frame of mind to identify the technical details on the coin. Great video! I have recently acquired two short cross cut halfpenny and they have became my favorite coins. The one thing that really blows my mind is how incredibly small they are! How did people keep up with their money in those days? Did they carry really well made purses on their belts?

Great Vid! Couple of possible errors I noticed. Feel free to delete 1.35 1080 rather than 1180? :) 3.29 Ipswich with a T, Carlisle missing an L, Norwich with an extra H :) 14.52 5b1 coin looks like a 5a2? :)
