While stationed in Germany, Bavaira was one of the favorite places to go. The Kehlisteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest) was worth the visit; once. Subsequent visits were because visiting friends and family insisted on seeing the damned place. The only way up there was by special buses with extra breaking. Then the fancy elevators with U-Boat diesels were remarkable, but the ‘haus was really not that big a deal. I can understand Hitler being a bit underwhelmed with the place. The man circled in the beginning with the suit and tie. Isn't the guy next to him wearing the SS uniform Herbert? Which one is the real Herbert Doehring?

There is an excellent book for those who are interested in this topic called "Living with Hitler; accounts of Hitler's household staff". (ISBN-978-1-78438-297-1) It includes recollections of Herbert Dohring, Karl Wilhelm Krause & Anna Plaim.
