I’ve only ever listened to your podcast… this is my first time seeing it. The fact that you’re all standing explains so much.

@Worldwidecyclery - You need to do a podcast with Jeff talking about all the bikes that he owned, in order, what he liked and disliked. Maybe 1-2 minutes talking about each bike to keep it short.

everyone needs at least 3 bikes I think, XC/Downcountry, Enduro bike (probably eeb), and a Dirt Jumper lol ps I don't trust anything pinkbike says, comments or reviewers.

A dirtbike is also pretty fun, makes you feel like a Superman when you're back on the feathery human powered bikes, not a huge fan of ebikes I'm like give me a supertorquey dirtbike sized thing... Maybe a surron 😅

You always need another bike, at least that's what I tell my wife. With poor results...

I tell my wife the same thing and then she ends up with cooler bikes than me.

Just started this, but I am deeply interested in short-travel high pivot bikes. I already own a Norco Optic, which I just forked up to 150 and installed a Cascade link to up the rear travel to 130. The new high-pivot Optic (aside from the awesome yellow color on the AL frameset) does not interest me due to its dangerously short chainstays (423 in a size large, compared to my 2023 size large's 435). I've been hearing a lot from people I trust, mainly Brian Cahal, that long stays are potentially key to really having fun on a bike, due to the additional stability, confidence, and front wheel weighting that is gained. That, of course, leads to the Forbidden Druid, a bike with very similar travel to the Optic but with dramatically longer stays (452 in size L). The Druid and the Dreadnought are probably going to be the next bikes I buy, but I despair of ever being able to demo one (they weren't even at Sea Otter!), not that the frames are actually that expensive, which is a credit to Forbidden.

I would try to demo before you buy, geometry doesn't show how it rides on trail, especially high pivot bikes. A static chainstay length of 423mm can grow at sag 5mm or more, all depends on the suspension design. As well as basing your opinion on one persons preferences that you might find don't match yours. I prefer a shorter chainstay offer a very long one, to me the sweet spot is around 435-440mm, but again suspension design can change all of that on trail :)

@@liamwoods5353Yeah, I'm pretty new to MTB so I'm not positive about my preferences, but I do feel more confident on my Trek Rail, which has long-ish chainstays at 448 in size large. I'm not in the market for a new bike right now in any event, and when I do buy I'm going to have to find a way to demo. I'm really happy with my stable (which is only lacking a true enduro bike), and I'm focusing on upgrades right now.

@@billydeewilliams8909 Awesome! Upgrades can often make a huge difference. Trek Rail confidence can likely come from the added weight on the e-bike, the low weight really helps create a stable bike and more traction compared to a standard bike :)

hey guys just one question: i am planning on getting a transition smuggler frame and building it up to what i would like. the suspension travel comes as a 130 rear and 140 front, but was wondering if i could change it to a 140 rear and 150 front. is there a noticeable difference? are there any drawbacks? also, thanks in advance love the channel and the podcast really enjoy listening to you guys.

Seychelles (pronounced Say Shells) is nowhere near the Galapagos. It’s in the Indian Ocean, close to Madagascar/off the coast of Africa. Literally the furthest place from the Galapagos 😂

Yeah, get a high pivot bike if you don’t like fucking paddling. Get a high pivot bike if you like it breaking down and dropping chains all the time. Pivot was way back in the day and quickly run away because it sucks. It’ll go away again.
