So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

As for the page file debate, I generally would rather just have more ram. Kind of a dumb contribution, but 16 in a full size tablet shouldn't be that odd. I think having it as an option is definitely nice, assuming the storage is fast. It will somewhat degrade storage life span, but it's not going to be significant for the vast majority of users. They just don't have the read/write cycles for it to matter, unless they used truly awful storage.

I mean, no shit, everyone would rather just have more RAM, but you get what you pay for. Given how long it took for (OEM) PCs and Laptops to go from 8GB RAM standard to 16GB, it really is too much to expect 16GB RAM in a tablet at this price.

Well. Considering how even the base 400€ ipad has a rather powerful chip and support for Apple Pencil it seems an uphill battle for anyone to realistically compete. @justitgstuff5284
@justitgstuff5284 Жыл бұрын
@@WalnutWarrior7 It's worth noting that the base iPad only supports the first gen pencil, which doesn't have wireless charging or magnetic attachment so it's more of an inconvenience to use, especially on the go. I think the processor is good enough on both of those tablets that it doesn't really matter for most users, and there are higher end tablets on both sides for professional use. Spec-wise the OnePlus tablet has a much better screen (higher refresh also means more responsive for drawing), double the memory, presumably better speakers and I'm assuming cheaper storage upgrades. If Apple kept the base iPad at the $330 price point, it would be more competitive and interesting. The current gen iPad seems kinda stupid compared to getting the iPad Air or saving money and getting a cheaper android tablet with similar enough specs.

The storage is enough for most people because they're not buying a tablet to take 8k pictures all day. Swap storage (the concept of 8+4gb of ram) is iffy on an SSD. Odds are it would be used so little that it's fine, but at the same time, I would never make a swap partition on an install that uses a SSD. 8GB should be more than enough memory, the battery would probably be degraded before the SSD goes bad due to swap space usage...maybe, we don't really have concrete numbers on either really. Windows uses a page file instead of swap, but it's basically the same concept. I have 32gb of ram, but even with the 16gb I have on my budget system I've put together from my last machine with some tweaks Windows is rarely going to ever access the page file, so I leave it alone.

@@northerner4995For few months this year I had a Pixel 7 Pro - which had many hardware issues with the screen flickering... until last week when I got the Oneplus 11. - Yes, I was also afraid that this phone will be far from the stock Android - just by seeing that it has its own android themed os - Oxygen 13 - which does have lots of useless preloaded apps for things Google is already offering - and that's relatively true with 9 Oneplus apps that I don't use and keep them hidden in a folder. The overall Software is not far from Android 13 as I experienced on the Pixel 7 Pro, but there are few thing different, like the settings menu which is slightly different organized - in a good way, very apple like. One thing is missing and I can find it annoying is that there's no option to hide the pattern on the lock screen when drawing it. Hope it can be fixed with the next update. Mostly I use the Fingerprint scanner which works pretty good so far... Other phones I considered with the Oneplus 11 were the ASUS ROG 6 and the Sony Xperia 5 IV. Which I didn't went with because Asus is way too expensive for what it offers and Sony is still running Android 11 - so OnePlus11 was the best performance for the $ spent... and I'm happy with it overall. This is my first OnePlus, in the past having Huawei P30, Pixel 1, Asus Padfone, etc. Probably you've noticed that I didn't mention Samsung. Well, because they have the same problem as Apple - an amazing piece of hardware that has changed the Android dramatically, with lots and lots of proprietary apps that I don't wanna use - because I'm already using them from Google. So, no thank you! Hope my opinion can help you decide! Don't rush and try to see them before you buy them! Good luck!

No way I'm watching this whole video but I took a look at this tablet a few days ago and the worst thing about it is OnePlus has no officially assumed security updates policy for it (notice I won't even talk about feature updates, aka major Android version updates, I'm just talking about the bare minimum of security updates). There is basically a WHOLE LOT of talk from OnePlus about how they're going to provide up to 5 years of security updates for some devices, bla bla bla bla but there is no clear publicly displayed and assumed policy that tells you exactly when the end-date will be for this tablet receiving regular security updates. This is in contrast to Lenovo or Nokia who have such policies on display for their tablets. So to me, this tablet is DOA. Note OnePlus is not alone in letting you believe whatever you want to believe. It's basically THE RULE that Android tablet manufacturers do all they can to avoid binding themselves to any promises of lengthy support.

They're trying to be apple. A semi-transparent background? Apple, def. A floating dock? Oh, that's totally apple, no doubt. Like, just the most mundane, seen-everywhere-a-thousand-times-before-apple-did-it shit. I swear if Windows 11 lets users slap the taskbar on top again we'll see articles claiming Windows 11 is trying to be like apple..

I felt I was exaggerating here, but then they got into saying that the standard looking menu was definitely apple, the rounded corners on the notification is apple, and... having a notes app is apple, even though... like, are you serious? Or is the whole thing a bit specifically at my expense? If so, that's mean, guys.

@@Trillykins It's not just you. They should have gotten Linus to do this.

Just got mine today and it did have a peal? OP use to send usb-c to usb-c cables. But they found out the overwhelming majority of their customers use usb-a/c cables. So they went back to the A cables and chargers. To me the bottom is and always will be where the charging port is.
