My office chair I got for free like 7 years ago is finally starting to wear out. Hearing the prices on these chairs seemed insane to me so I decided to finally look under my chair to find out the model and cost to replace it...turns out I've been sitting on a $2000 Steelcase Leap. I worked at cascade engineering for a few years making parts for hermin miller. Mostly for the Mirra chairs. When I left, I purchased one and still have it over 10 years later. Hermin Miller has great r&d going into their products to be sustainable, comfy, and resilient even if they are a little pricey compared to other brands. The glass filled nylon has the benefits of being "springy" and tougher than other plastics. But dropping the glass filled nylon will give you a heart attack as it sounds like a thousand glass cups hitting the floor and shattering.

But for sure, I can BET, anyone can get MANY other options BETTER than this chair for that money, him saying "only $999" for this and going for it instead of the Embody, shows he sits in a $150 chair. Is the chair bad? for that price? yes, for $500-$600 maybe not? would be a good pick, and still, I would go for something else after watching all the reviews out there and on r/officechairs

Bought a refurbed HM Aeron 3 years ago for $600 and I’ve never been more pleased with a purchase. If something does end up breaking, parts are readily available and much cheaper than buying another chair (I believe the bottom mesh cushion is about $125 for a replacement).
@MrMega200
@MrMega200 Жыл бұрын
@@FcoEnriquePerez I don't agree with the pricing even if it was $500. The seat pad is just going to bottom out as the last few guys noted, they were ALREADY feeling the plank in the chair. If it was more in the lines of $100 then yeah I guess okay if you're fine with something that will wear out in a year or two of constant use. For the same price if you don't have an issue with your tailbone you should buy an Herman Miller Sayl office chair edition for that lumbar support. Or for a bit less you can buy an refurbished leap v2 chair through Crandall office where they replace the seat and back foam with 3/4" thicker foam and you get a pretty impressive warranty.

About 5 years ago, the company my dad works at downsized and their office department were getting rid of their office chairs. At the time I wasn't familiar with the name Herman Miller, but I knew office departments were known to have high-end chairs. There were a few good condition chairs at my dad's work and he told me I should swing by and take one home. So I drove the 5 mile round trip to picknone up and use in my room. It was a very comfy mesh office chair, a bit used and worn in, but I loved it. It wasn't until a few months later, after watching a LTT/Gamers Nexus video on office vs gamer chairs, that I realized that my chair looked very similar to the Herman Miller that was being shown. I searched for markings on my chair to see if my hunch was correct, and lo and behold, it turned out my chair was indeed a genuine Herman Miller Aeron. I had essentially paid less than $2 USD in gas for an HM Aeron. I later found an aftermarket headrest designed by former HM Aeron designers that aleviated the lack of head support for the Aeron too. Years later and even after it's use in the office space, this chair still holds up to it's design and quality and has easily been the best money I never spent for my setup

That similarly happened to me many years ago, no joke. Friend owned a company and had a bunch of office chairs that he didn't need. He let me take it home. Lasted me probably 7 or so years which is good for an already used office chair. I can't remember the brand anymore but I remember looking into it see the original price. I couldn't believe that I had a $1400 chair for free. LOL the thing was so sturdy and strong. The fabric finally started ripping and the bottom broke but man that thing lasted so long and was SUPER comfortable.

The chair market really tends to be as Colton put it - you get what you pay for. After going through multiple chairs in the past from Staples, I had enough. I picked up an Aeron earlier this year and I've thoroughly loved it ever since. The *only* shortcoming I've encountered with it was the frame design and how it can cut into your legs if you're not sat right, and the fact it didn't come with a headrest. This was my first namebrand chair, i returned it fairly shortly after receiving it for mostly 3 reasons, it's very small, and I think this magnifies the other two issues significantly, other reviews said they wouldn't recommend it for people over 5 10 and i'd agree, the back is comfortable for the most part and it of course breathes well, but the hard plastic edge of the seat dug into my shoulders pretty bad causing discomfort, the lumbar support is surprisingly comfortable but I find it irritating that its only directly in the middle so if you were to sit on it any other way it's gonna feel weird (yeah yeah ergonomics) and most crucially the seat hurt my tailbone and put my ass to sleep, don't know what it was but i quickly resorted to putting a pillow on the seat and even then that didn't help much. Headrest also sucks but is removable so nbd. if you are a smaller frame person im sure it's a great chair, wouldn't recommend for big people, in general would encourage people to wait for sales, I ended up getting a $1500 chair for the same price.

Bruh, I hope u did not buy the Vantum based ONLY on this video alone. Please please do some proper research b4 buying the HM Vantum. This video is one of the most empty-handed takes on this chair and the chair is way worse than it actually seems in this video. They didn't even mention the major cons of this chair like the fact that the seat depth is too shallow even at its max position and that the awful headrest is next to impossible to adjust while sitting down in the chair without breaking your fingers. The sizing is atrocious on this chair, especially for a Herman Miller one, and the build quality is below my expectations of what I expect a Herman Miller product to be. I'm honestly shocked that HM even included the same 12-year warranty for the Vantum as they did for their higher-end chairs like the Embody and Aeron. I HIGHLY recommend u watch other reviews of this chair like from Ahnestly and BTODtv b4 making a final decision on buying this chair.

@@drewhinners8793 HM support is fantastic, if you get in contact now before the product ships they'll change the order within 2 days. But like Dylan Loo said, you should check out other reviews. Your height&weight are very important factors in picking a chair, it should be sized to fit you. Where you need support, how you use the chair, the temperature of the room, etc. all matter in what makes a good chair. If you want to be held in place to get max spine alignment, chairs like the vantum and aeron are good, along with other hard frame mesh chairs. If you like to stretch, the haworth fern, ergochair pro+ and embody are great options. Steelcase offers a middle ground, and their chairs are fabric with cushion, making them warmer than mesh chairs. BTOD and Ahnestly are the two best channels for chair reviews, probably.

Looks nice, I have to say I really like Herman Miller chairs. We've had Herman Miller Mirra 2 chairs at work since 2019 and I've loved them. I have back issues and had gone through many cheap desk chairs every few years, in 2020 we went remote and I grabbed a nicer desk chair from a local retailer, but it still was causing back pain with long sessions which my work chair did not, so in 2021 I gave that chair to my wife and just bought the Mirra 2. So happy I did, especially with the long warranty and comfort and support it gives me. They do offer financing options too. I do have to mention I am a bit heavier, and really like this chair, my wife is smaller and doesn't find the Mirra 2 as comfortable for her, and my second hand chair wasn't the best for her either, so did pick her up a purple Secretlab Titan Evo - Small this year, and it is working well for her, but is on the firmer side. But having owned a bunch of different desk chairs and sitting in a wide variety at work it is really apparent to me now on differences in comfort and build quality between them, and I highly recommend if you are not comfortable with what you have it is worth the investment. Those cheaper options below $400 were working for me for years, but they would wear down very quickly, felt cheap, were not comfortable for long periods of time. The Secretlab chairs are definitely a level up, feel better quality than the cheaper chairs. But when you move up to Herman Miller with like the Mirra 2 everything feels substantially higher quality.

But when people get into that whole, _“OOOh you can't put a price on the health of your spine!”_ well then suddenly $10,000 is technically a bargain. Every company wants you to think they deeply researched the complexities of the human spine at the atomic level. No they just copied the design of someone else's chair. @@naryanr do you need to spend 1K to find a good ergonomic chair? No, but will finding a cheaper ergonomic chair be easier than buying one from steelcase or herman miller? Companies which have long warranties, retail stores so you can pick a chair which fits you best, and are proven to be good quality (since most companies use them due to their durability and comfort)? No. A thousand dollars isnt a bargain but its a bargain for a chair from this company. Its like Porsche making a 40K car. Its not a bargain overall but for that company it is. I beg to differ that these expensive ergo chairs are just "copied designs" and the chair doesnt need to be more complex than plywood arranged at a right angle. Ive sat in plenty of chairs and all of them get really uncomfortable. Chairs in college are comfortable for an hour or two, but at the end of a lecture im itching to move. Ive sat in a couple chairs for home use and all of them get uncomfortable. Hell one even started giving me back pain. I have an aeron and it wasnt cheap by any means (buy used. Like i said, if youre lucky you could pick one up for $100), but I can literally sit in it for 16 hours with the straightest back ever (whereas for normal chairs I sink down) and I dont feel uncomfortable at all. Its honestly almost detrimental since it prevents me from walking around (since cheap chairs hurt so I need to take a break), but thats cause im lazy.

Can you guys check if the armrests are removable on the chairs you review? I know a quite a few vfx and animation professionals, including myself, that use ergonomic elbow rests that attach to the desk to keep their shoulders more mobile while working. It helps us avoid pinched nerves in our shoulders and necks. The problem is, in order for this to work, we have to remove the armrests on our seats otherwise, they get in the way of our elbow rests. Depending on the design of the chair, removing the armrests can hinder the stability of the chair. In rare cases the armrests can move enough to allow enough clearance from the elbow rests.

This seems like a $300-$400 chair for $800. It is probably a decent chair and perhaps it is made from better materials then the ones that are half the price, but a good bit of that price is probably the Herman Miller tax. I never have tried a Herman Miller, but I have tried a couple of of very similar chairs from autonomous and dourest that cost about $300-$400. They are decent chairs, but not really worth even that price in my opinion. My favorite chair has ended up being a cheap $150 all mesh chair that I got from Staples, despite being less then half the price of some of my other chairs I find it more comfortable and after 2 years of very hard use (I work form home, then usually game after work so I sit in it 12+ hours a day) The chair shows very few signs of wear, so I expect it to last me a number of years. I'm glad you're happy with your purchase, not everyone needs to spend money on an ergo chair to sit comfortably. However, there is a reason for the price, part of the cost is the 12 year warranty, they basically price in two chairs. It also includes shipping costs, but these ergo chairs have large design teams for aesthetics, engineering and kinesthesiology. There are a significant portion of aerons that live to be 30 from the aeron v1, so you may never have to buy an office chair again. I have a haworth fern, and I've never sat in something so comfortable in my life. I had a Autonomous ErgoChair Pro+, it was too small for me. I hated the lack of adjustable lumbar, and the width at the shoulders was really awkward. The fern narrows as you go up the back, so at the top I have free range of motion, and the chair has even better flexibility. I like the adjustment systems more, too. It's also significantly quieter. I do have a complaint but it is a noticeable standard of living upgrade over everything else I've tried.

The embody you have there looks way better in that regard. Still it seems like a lovely chair even at this price point, I will try to sit in one at some point.

@@TimI1S It's a chair. I have a really nice one. Cost me $129 two years ago. Comfy, adjustable, rolls nicely, looks good, and holds my oversized butt. No office chair (and that's what it is) should cost a grand. That's just silly. Buy a $150 chair and put the other $850 into a better computer. That $850 will buy you TWO 4TB NVMe SSD's....

I like how the full name of the chair is not in the video description so I can scavenge the internet for myself to actually find it. Great job guys!

Vantum, but before you buy it I would check out BTOD and Ahnestly's reviews of it. imo the fern is the best chair, and it's not even the most expensive. the best spec of haworth fern for comfort is the digital knit, optional lumbar support, no headrest, no forward tilt (it's not a great forward tilt mechanism, it only effects the seat pan, not the back and arm rests). It offers comparable maybe more adjustability than the embody, comparable flexibility out of the back, and the fact that it narrows as you go up the back means your shoulders have better range of motion.

It's kind of funny how close to that the IKEA Styrspel gaming chair is. I got one and it's pretty robust and fully mesh like the Aeron, seat too. Armrests are a bit fiddly, but it's like $220 AND you can angle them.

if someone says they can feel the base under the cushion on their first sit - i'm immediately out. i've got the secret lab titan and only after 3 years can i feel the base, which is mainly in the center, as the outside of the base seems to use metal struts with like 5-6 inches of foam. it was like half the price of this thing.

Looks like a nice chair, but what kinda turns me off to it is the red accents on the adjustment knobs. Looks fine on the red version, but I'd prefer the white one to match my black and white desk theming and I think the red stands out too much. Yes it's under and behind me while seated, but still, for a chair this expensive it would be nice to have color matching all around, or just black on the black and white models. Also kind of surprised they don't have a Logitech blue version, but that might be due to the more expensive chair already having the color scheme.

I used to have a 300 dollar gaming chair from DXRacer. Always backproblems and sweaty chair in the summer. Now I have a the Herman Miller Aeron (was around 1300 dollar) and my backproblems are over and no more sweaty sessions. If you can afford it, spend a little more on a chair you sit in a few hours a day. It's worth it.
