I don't think any extra resistance degrades digital signals though?
@poipoi300
@poipoi300 2 жыл бұрын
@@williamluong7743 The signal itself is fine, but more resistance = more heat. Plus if you have a power supply sending out a certain amount of power, there may be less than expected at the other end of it due to the resistance. Linus explained one of the possible issues with that. Fixing this issue is as simple as making the wires thicker. It's also possible that the electrical connections within are sub-par. Looking at the tests results, that seems like a possibility but I'm no expert.
@LRM12o8
@LRM12o8 2 жыл бұрын
@@williamluong7743 yes it can. If the signal arriving at the other end is too weak, it can't be interpreted reliably anymore, even if it's a digital signal. However, this is likely not gonna be the issue with a 3 meter USB cable. What's more likely to cause issues here is thermal resistance when you connect a USB devices that draws max power from that USB port. And as Linus said in this video, the rated power draw of this mic is actually quite close to the maximum power draw of USB 2.0, so if you run this mic hot* for prolonged time for some reason, it" might literally get hot and potentially cause damage. _*as in turning the gain all the way up_ _"the cable/USB port_

It sounds worse than a Behringer BX2020 which costs about 60$. Yes, you need phantom power for it but that still puts you at a significantly cheaper price and gives you more options. I have an Audient EVO 4 Interface and can’t figure out live monitoring without lag for the life of me. Mic is using Phantom Power + XLR into one of the XLR inputs on the Evo 4 interface. Headphones are plugged into the front ‘headphone’ port. Just seems a lot less simple than it should be lol…..
@coreforge
@coreforge 2 жыл бұрын
@@tiestofalljays I don't think you'll get more latency with the monitoring output than with a regular onboard sound chip. It's basically just a usb soundcard that gets some audio mixed on top. @@drkastenbrot The extra bass you're attributing to condenser microphones, is actually due the design of directional microphones. So its not bad that this cable is a little bit too long, because it will deliver required voltages and it should be USB 2.0 which should be fine at 3 meters

sound pretty good. comfortable sound. although found it a bit lifeless sounding on my pro monitoring setup. other devices/setups it was good. I think they might have a low pass filter and maybe even a small eq cut to de-ess. smart move for streaming and online calls if they do have that and would explain the dullness/lifelessness in the high frequencies.

For some reason I thought you had found a listening device concealed in the packaging in addition to the product.

I think the cable tester should have its own cameo/intro when it's brought in for testing

One test it would be nice to see on something like this is the audio if you are talking and typing on a mechanical keyboard whilst the mic is on the desk, I would like to see how intrusive that sort of sound is.

The peaking issue is typically windows mic settings are automatically cranked to 100% so you have to turn down the windows microphone setting to around 50 or 60%

at 1.5 A the voltage drop across the cable is .105 V. its lower limit is probably quite a ways lower than 4.9 V, so it's fine

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, stay away from gamer focused audio peripherals, stick with the brands that work with audio day in day out like AT, JBL or any other audio brand, they’ll always sound better and last longer than “gamer peripherals”

I really really really love NZXT's design for all of their stuff. components, cases, etc... It's all very simplistic and isn't bulky or has useless features/things on their products.

I love how he didn't bang the table because he knew it would pick up a lot in the mic because it doesn't even have a shockmount
