This belt needed shortening by about 3 inches, but I didn't just cut off the end and punch new holes. Instead, I started at the buckle end and cut the stitching, skived the leather and re-stitched. I used leather chisels to create the thread holes and contact cement to hold the leather in place while stitching. The needles are very blunt-ended and are meant for leather work. The thread is waxed and can be melted at the end to finish the stitch.
