That’s not exactly what Les said. He was long quoted as saying that he never liked the SG body style and shape (too thin and pointy on the horns) and insisted his name be removed. He was also asking about his feelings about Pete Townshend smashing up numerous SG’s and Les Paul Deluxe models, and Les reportedly said that he loved it as it meant more sales.

As for neck strength , look at Les Pauls and SGs . Fenders , you just put 3 or 4 bolts on them, new but unoriginal guitars .Gibson is charging something like 3,000.00 dollars to fit a new neck in a LP or SG . My figure may be pre COVID ,so I'm not sure what it could cost now . Mark Bolan had a Les Paul that had a replacement neck because it looked black .In those years and days people just played the best guitars they could and he had a hell of a time getting Les Pauls in England . This vintage movement started later as there weren't so many guitars around like you have today . Of course vintage sunburst LPs and SGs we're always highly sought after. Alice Cooper's guys were playing these vintage SG Customs in Concert in 1971 2, 3 ,4 . Michael Bruce and the r lead player, Smith ? Or Buxton. It looks devastating. and they were really kicking ass with those SGs,!

I love this axe but it's def NOT the best playing guitar for me, but that's just because I hit the middle pickup and think that the maestro tremolo or whatever t f they call it is absolutely horrible. It's an SG.. Its a point in the SGs history that Les Paul and Gibson had decided that his signature would start being applied to. The single cut carved top Les Paul that we all know and love has never been anything but a Les Paul.

@stricknine8623 Жыл бұрын
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist Its not that I don't understand what you have said or what you are saying.. I'm just putting the whole thing into perspective. I think that people loose sight of the fact that Les Paul in this context is really just a signature... The SG itself proves that. The single cut, carved maple top, mahogany body Les Paul has always been a Les Paul..All other signature guitars today and in the past have been an existing model guitar that a given manufacturer may form a signature guitar out of a model that a particular guitarist already plays...You know, a marketing thing for both the guitarist and the guitar manufacturer.. there may be the signature applied and a few asthetic appointments along with something electronic like the pickups. The single cut Les Paul is a signature guitar and it is also the model name of the guitar itself and has always been... Food for thought.

He essentially quit gibson and they let him go (it was mutual). He loved the sg, but didn't want things to get confusing with his divorce and his name being used so he actually left. I have video of me reading his actual handwritten notes to Barry goudreau of Boston and Gary cherone of extreme/van Halen on camera. If you go to my videos and watch the house that les pauo built you'll see I'm not making any of this up. His contract was over because he asked it to be over due to depression over his marriage. Not exactly. Les told people for years he didn't like the design and made up all kinds of things as to why he didn't want to call the sg (what was the 1960-62 les paul custom) a les paul. The truth, which I discovered in his personal notes, was because he didn't want things to get more confusing in his divorce from Mary Ford. He essentially quit gibson and they let him go, it was mutual. But he loved the sg and thought it was cool, despite inumerable interviews to the contrary. Les Paul took his name off that guitar because he didn't like it but there was another reason to had nothing to do with Mary Ford when he played the SG it used to get stuck in his suit jacket that's why he said get my God damn name off of this guitars I have a 81 SG plays like the day I got

That is what he told the public so you're absolutely correct for thinking that. I am currently doing a doc on les paul and I'm in possession of 1000s of his handwritten notes and manuscripts. One of them being the explanation behind his departure from Gibson and the sg. Everything I say in this video is what les wrote in his own handwriting, but he put multiple stories as to why he didn't actually like it out there. Go watch my video "The House That Les Built" and you'll see that I'm not talking outta my ass. 🙌

That's because he never said it in life. What I'm speaking to is his personal ledgers where he wrote down his true feelings. That’s inaccurate, you lost all credibility when you said vibrolo, he never liked that model as he was not part of the design process when Gibson wanted to compete with lighter body guitars like the strat, so when les Paul’s contract with Gibson ended he did not allow them to continue calling it a les Paul, hence the name solid body(SG) was created to rebrand it, I would really love to hear your source on what you said tho, I did a major school project on this a few years ago and did my research extensively as les pups are my favourite guitars

Rene, I have said this to multiple people on here. I'm doing an actual doc on les paul. I have become very good friends with his best friend and confidant, the mayor of Mahwah, NJ who is in possession of all of his notes, things, well everything. He said all of that in interviews, but the truth was because he was depressed over his divorce and he decided to quit gibson. It was mutual. I have handwritten notes from his explaining the true story. Again, HIS HANDWRITTEN notes explaining what I'm saying to be true. He loved the model. There's video of me reading it w Barry goudreau of Boston and Gary cherone of extreme. You can go watch the video The House That Les Built right on this page and see that I'm not messing with you. But FYI, regardless of what les said in past interviews, that's not true. I hope this shows you I'm not talking outta my ass Rene, but regardless of your thoughts on my credibility, I'm 100% right
