Every time we travel from Cheyenne to Cody to visit relatives we blow through Shoshoni both ways. We should stop and support what is left of the town before it’s completely gone. Amazed it’s still there.

The nearest Dollar General is 1 hr and 51 minutes away.

Aside from the Exxon C-store, not much of a going concern. Last time we went through Shoshoni (early November, 2023), the town hall building was for sale.

More important than not blinking, is DON'T SPEED THOUGH TOWN!!! Well known speed trap, and it's kind of the only source of income for the police department. Also, the corner gas station has been torn down and replaced with a nice new travel center, directly behind the old station.

We were there for the Great Shoshoni Traffic Jam on August, 21, 2017. Cars were backed up in every direction for at least half an hour. The town would have been hopelessly gridlocked were it not for traffic control by local law enforcement. It was a sight to behold. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse_of_August_21,_2017
