This waltz is from the Suite for Jazz Orchestra, composed by Dmitri Shostakovich in 1938. Stanley Kubrick used it in his film, Eyes Wide Shut (1999).
The accordion is a Scandalli Scott-Wood Special dating from the 1950's. Scott-Wood was a very popular band leader in the radio years, 30's to 60's when he played hundreds of times for programmes like "Music While you Work" I must have heard him quite a bit as the programme ran to 1965. I wasn't at work - I was bunking off school!
One of his bands had 4 accordions in it, and he wrote, in 1930, one of the first accordion tutor books. Scandalli, one of the leading Italian accordion makers made this one to his specification. It was restored by myself (Accordions South West) do visit my patreon site if interested in vintage accordions. Also on Patreon are exclusive ad-free videos, tutorials, sheet music and other resources for accordionists.
