Little tip to make this video even more perfect ; The T cells on the cortex are mainly immature thymocytes along with macrophages which engulf those T cells which are marked for clonal deletion worths mentioning that the cortical capillaries in the cortex have the blood-thymus barrier . This is while the T cells in the medullary part of the nodule are mature .

I agree, the blood-thymus barrier is pretty important, as it practically saves our life. Still, great video.

Thanks man, your stuff is excellent. Please feel free to post longer, more in depth descriptions of these organs. Histology experts are few and far between, and to be honest, pretty busy people. So nice to get some insights and clear explanations of what's going on. Have you thought of doing comparative videos of infected versus non-infected lymph nodes, or at least progression of lymph nodes during disease (i.e. histology at different time points as the lymph node swells)?

@pamelas38 i think you are right ERCs and RCs are of different origin. ERCs don't make reticular fibers, they just have dendritic extensions, while RCs secrete type III collagen.

Doesn't thymus not have reticular fibers?
@uofagrad2009
@uofagrad2009 11 жыл бұрын
To note: the cells pointed out are NOT reticular cells which produce reticular fibers... they are type VI epithelioreticular cells which produce interleukin that help with the differentiation process of the immature T cells (tested to see if they recognize antigens) these epethial reticular cells are what make up the Hassals Corpuscle

sorry that is way over my head, but i have always admired people who study the REAL core of immunology rather than take thinhs at face value, bravo to you! i think this B/T hype has been way overdone over the generations, and somebody should take a new look. A wise man once told me that the letters "B" and "T" are the first and last letters, respectively, of a very common english cuss-word, which i'm sure you'll figure out very soon

For a 1 mark question, if asked which lymphoreticular organ lacked a lymphoid follicle, isn't the answer the thymus? Some sources refer to it as a "follicle" but as you say, it's more divided into cortex and medulla

Isn´t the thymus stroma made of epithelial reticular cells, not just reticular cells? I am not sure if this is not only some language difference :-)

Aren't there also in the cortex cortical epithelial cells besides lymphocytes T?
@drakemusoki2098

Basically first look at it as an organ where the T lymphocytes will mature from ,so there you can get your answer.

Thymocytes are T Lymphoblasts not Lymphocytes. Great Video
@SMass-ey8er
@SMass-ey8er 5 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, because the smaller version of cell population is resting thymocytes and only about 5% of these cells activated and differentiated into lymphoblasts and eventually T-lymphocytes, ready to migrate secondary lymph organs and reside there to fight antigens presented to them.
