Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As a Scottish history tour guide people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation if your from the US. So I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

As a Caribbean woman born in Barbados, my father's family came from Scotland as indentured servants. My great grandmother who helped raise me, her first grandchild, was blue eye and blond. @@euan7166 Now that there is a silly question. Haha. Hmm Respect… Respect is a complex issue, and lies at the heart of every movement for equality or against abuse. The primary struggle against racism, misogyny, and genocide are all directly related to the limited number of people who have taken the time to understand respect worldwide. Without respect, real love is not possible, and neither is a healthy culture or society. One way to understand Respect is having Self Respect or in other words Honoring thyself. In the words of Rob Roy “ Every man with Honor is a King but not every King has Honor.” Honor is something no one can give and No One can take away.. So I've been loving my journey of finding out more about my Scottish heritage and ancestors. But I often ask myself the exact question of should I as a black woman talk about my new found Scottish history. Learning more about myself and where I come from is so exciting but I keep most of what I find to myself because of the responses I get, like weird looks, they don't seem too interested, or they ask "Are you sure?" almost like I'm making it up lol. It's funny at times but also a little discouraging. So this video was definitely helpful and looking forward to checking out more of your channel!

This Canadian loves your channel, your knowledge, your humor, your Scottish-ness, and your willingness to share all of the above. I consider myself Canadian, as I was born, raised, and still live here - but I'm Canadian only 'by accident'' and Scottish 'once removed.' Both my Grandfathers immigrated here from Scotland for work reasons, my Paternal Grandmother's father did as well, and my maternal Grandmother's family immigrated here from Finland. I've never been to Scotland (yet) but have a love for the country that's been passed down to me all my life and I do get nostalgic when I hear bagpipes (Grandpa played them). I envy our native people's here in Canada because they have feet on their native lands. There is no question that humans can be, and have been, incredibly cruel to each other for the stupidest of reasons such as skin color, belief systems, and of course greed. None of it is, or has ever been, justified in my mind. In one way or another, many of us have been 'displaced' over time from our original homelands. You sir, are the real deal, regardless of the color of your skin, and I look forward to the day when every color of homo sapien is considered simply 'homo sapien" wherever they live! Cheers to you and yours! PS Cats and dogs are privileged, and perhaps smarter than Mr. Strand 🙂.

Master Archer, was betrayed by his chieftain and decided to leave the clan to The isle of Barra. My grand father learned to live to fight another day. The fact im alive here today shows he was a bright lad, not only do the strong survive, so do the smart. Theres ALOT of MacKenzies out there like the ones in castle leod who im vaguely related too. @kierangorman3052 3 жыл бұрын
@@volkskrieg8735 So you want Scotland to be an ethnostate? You do realise that ultimately all people descend from Africans and so everyone on the planet is an immigrant right? Our culture is a social construct and evolves over time. Alba does not even exist as it once did as Scotland derives its name from Scotia -- an entirely different kingdom that was formed from a different agreement between the clans. Trying to preserve the ethnic make-up of Alba would be a vain task as it long ago became a redundant concept in terms of how many Scots view themselves. Associating Celtic culture and pride in one's heritage with such hateful and anti-immigration ideas will only hurt the image of efforts to promote historical knowledge and pride, giving English nationalists more of an excuse to eliminate Scots' sense of national identity.
@kierangorman3052
@kierangorman3052 3 жыл бұрын
@@volkskrieg8735 There is provably very little genetic difference between races and there is far more variation in genetics within a race. We are also not discussing race, we are discussing ethnicity, but I assume that you are using the two interchangeably (which is incorrect as not all white people are Celtic.) As to the idea of Scotland being made up of only white people, let me ask you what would happen in the case of guys like Bruce who made this video? He is half white and half black, and if you want all countries to be ethnostates then I assume that that includes Ghania where his father is from, so he would not be accepted there either. So where exactly would mixed race people go? You’re view of nationality makes no sense. Edit: Spelling.

I don't care what colour a person's skin is, if you have an interest in the history of a certain period of country you should be able to study it and talk about it. I am passionate about studying British history, but I also enjoy studying Greek and Roman history, plus the history of the Mongols, Samurai history and Middle Eastern history. Your race should not disqualify you from studying and talking about particular types of history!

In my experience as a native German living since 2011 in Scotland this applies to being scottisch. Being Scottish is more a lifestyle and mindset thing then an document entry.

Hi Bruce - new to your channel. Love your work and the passion and knowledge you bring to sharing Scottish history that's all that matters. Just loved the walk up Kinnoull Hill and the view down the Carse. Brings back many happy memories for me when my late parents lived in Perth. Born and brought up in Kirriemuir, now living in Brisbane.

Gaelic is spoken in this area and proudly in my families homes. You can visit us anytime and we’d be proud to introduce you as our Scottish friend

I was working in west Texas circa 20 yrs back two guys walked out into the parking area as I was getting into my car. I stopped dead in my tracks as I heard them talk, “Madainn mhath a bheil thu a ’bruidhinn Gàidhlig”? Seadh cò às a tha thu?,came the reply. Gàidhealtachd na h-Alba, cò às a tha thu? Nova Scotia. It ended up with me talking to one of their fathers that was from my village and knew my family!!

@@fearnpol4938 there were actually more Gaelic speakers in Nona scotia last century than there were in Scotland. My grandparents’ born in Nova Scotia in late 1800s and early 1900s spoke only Gaelic until they went to school. Where they’d be punished for speaking Gaelic I. Earshot of English teachers.

I've lived in Scotland for most of 23 years, I love Scotland and know a great deal about Scottish history and culture, but strictly to some I am not a Scot, as I wasn't born here and have an English-type accent. Stuff-em I say, especially those dour and grumpy, mainly urban Scots, I wouldn't want to relate to them anyway. I prefer stomping around the beautiful Highlands and Borders, visiting castles, country estates, revelling in the history, wildlife and landscape.
