NBA really has changed. Back then, undersized bigs are a cause of concern for Teams when selecting a big man. Now being 7'4 is a problem for teams because most big men these days are smaller and quicker. Unless you're an alien prospect like Wemby. IMO it boils down to how dedicated a team is to developing their young players and how disciplined that said player is.

My guess is that teams will have to adjust to Edey more than his need to adjust his game. His height and strength will force teams to double team him. Tell me, how in the world can one man stop him If he pairs up with another big, other teams can forget about 2nd chance points. Also, if Edey can guard the. Interior, his team could expand their defense on 3 point shooters. Could you imagine Wemby and Edey on the same floor together. That will be an unstoppable duo. For some weird reason, Edey draws negative comments and people are not looking close enough at his upside.

Great post game, nice finishing, tall, imperious post defense. But theres some glaring downsides. He's slow, zero offensive game outside of the post. And im not sure how to put it, but his rebounding is... lacking? He doesn't fight for boards. The toughness is a question mark. The biggest question mark, is if he can adjust his game to the NBA. It’s a matter of opinion and some will say yes and some will say no. Personally I wouldn’t draft him in the lottery. . his defense is way too questionable and unlike slow big’s like Jokic and sengun who are good at positioning and using their hands to poke at the ball effectively when defending Edey doesn’t have that. There’s a difference in bullying some sociology major in college because of your overwhelming size and doing that in the NBA with so many defensive liabilities. People forget Edey couldn’t even get on the floor much for team Canada. I think he might just be another Boban or Shawn Bradley. 2 huge guys over 7’4. One dominated European basketball and won MVP over there and the another one dominated high school and college basketball in the US but both couldn’t really couldn’t do anything meaningful in the NBA because they’re just too slow for the league and not really good at position like Gasol, Jokic,Embiid or sengun. He would probably be more of a back up and OKC that would be the dumbest traffic ever if they actually think he was going to start because that team is all about small ball and shooting threes that’s why they have so much space to play with because everybody on their starting lineup can shoot threes as soon as you get rid of one of their shooters, and put Zach Edey as a starting center you’re completely fucked. Also, what about chet Is he agile enough to be a power forward? His shot blocking won’t be nearly as effective. If he’s on the perimeter, Zach Edey is probably gonna be a solid back up for a team, but I don’t really see a world where he’s going to be a starter or franchise level player.

I get where you’re coming from but let’s be honest Alex Len in college was nowhere near as good as Edey. There is no reason Edey couldn’t play a bench role in the NBA. I think his limitations are a bit overblown and he’s very comparable to Boban but way more athletic, and fluid which should earn him bare minimum 10-20 min a game.

Terrible take! Len was not half the player that Edey was in college nor even close to the level of dominance.

No, no, no. Don't give the rest of the NBA the secret sauce guys. Let them pass up on the kid so that the Raptors can get Edey and Clingan.

He was national player of the year last year as well, had to stay in school one more year because he was projected be undrafted. a year later, now he's in lottery pick conversation? but to be optimistic, Nikola Jokic draft profile was very similar, slow, can't shoot, hence he was late 2nd rounder... now look at him🤣 Anyway I would love to see Raptors pick him up!

I'm not sold on Edey sorry, I watched him the last two years when they lost earlier get pushed around when guys were physical with him. Haven't seen and elbow jumper, a turn around jumper, a long range jumper, etc - more turnovers than assists every year, no 3 point shot. outside of the nc state game when guys have been physical with him he hasnt responded well. I wouldnt take him top 20 personally

If Edey is available at 19… Toronto must take him otherwise I will not be watching the Raps any longer. Edey has shown that he will be the best draft selection for this year. I have been around/ coached basketball for 25 years trust me. Edey willl be gone by #15.

If you think Zach deserves to be a lottery pick the you are either Canadian or you went to Purdue. He'll certainly play in the league, but is he Boban or Taco ?

taco nor boban never did what Edy has done or does. Not everyone needs a C that camps out beyond the arc and tries to be the next KD or Dirk. Edy is still young and coachable, dude has the size and bball IQ, he may not be an all star but he will add value

Put Boban in the time machine and let him go play 4 years @ Kansas or Duke. You'd see that Edey isn't that different. Hunter Dickinson lit Zach up a couple of times at Michigan. When aging Steven Adam's gets back Edey will just see the bottoms of his shoes.

I think Zach Edey will be a lottery pick this year, only because this looks to be one of the weakest drafts in a decade. Do I think he'll be a superstar in the NBA? I highly doubt it, but I do think he will be one of those journeyman players who will have a long career going to several different teams.
