Beautiful bike and sounds delicious...if the deal is that good, go for it! I passed my KVS on to my daughter when I got my Indian Scout a few months back--still get to ride it so its win/win. Sounds like you will keep yours as well so as far as bikes go, two are always better than one lol. Cheers from North Texas and keep us posted!

Buy the Fatbob. It’s stable, great torque, the transmission is great. Sixth gear is truly an overdrive gear. You can add a tachometer, mounted on the bars, where you can see it, not on the gas tank. The dual disc brakes are a big plus for Harley. This particular bike is exceptionally beautiful. The color is wonderful. I love the forward controls, too. After market support for HD is also a big plus. Given the popularity of HD, the after market is huge. I own a 2009 Lowrider, a 2007 Sportster Roadster and a 2004 Yamaha FZ1. I ride the Lowrider the most but in hindsight I wish that I had purchased the Fatbob. Highway rpm @60 mph. FZ1 4,000 rpm, Sportster 2,800 rpm, Dyna 2,000 rpm. The Harley’s will be around forever. How soon until Kawasaki does a marketing study and kicks the current Vulcan to the curb?

Tripp On Two Wheels Thanks for the reply. I have been subscribed for quite a while. I like motorcycles and enjoy your videos. What I don’t like is the way Asian manufacturers constantly cancel great lines of bikes. I would have liked to bought a ahonda CTX1300 or a Valkyrie, or a Yamaha Warrior or Raider but they were cancelled. Even my FZ1 is 1st generation and there is little support. I changed my rear brake pads and was going to replace the spring clip and pins. The dealer told me that there is only ONE spring clip in dealer inventory in America. 😄. I guess the Asian manufacturers cater more to the entire world where HD, until recently, was America focused. You’ll love the Fatbob and you don’t have to dress up like a pirate to ride it. 😂

This video is 7 months old, so I have no idea what you chose. I have also not read any comments. But in my opinion, I would purchase the Fat Bob and get the HD experience. Then, since it's a really good deal, you can always keep it or sell it and have yourself another experience by purchasing something else. I set out to purchase a HD once and I ended up with my now 97 1500 Vulcan classic. I love it! Then I went out and got a 2000 Concours 1000 and love that one also. I eventually got 2 bikes I love for the price of one low end HD. Maybe someday, I'll run into such a deal, but as of now, I can't see myself purchasing a bike that, costs an arm and leg to repair, shakes like that and runs hotter than my Kawasakis. Entertaining video!

@@trippontwowheels I like mid controls a lot better for the twistys, but I ended up installing highway pegs also for when I wanted to just kick back. I'm 6 foot and about the same weight. Comfort wise they were both about the same to me. If hustling thru turns is on your agenda then I would go for the mid controls. In 2009 HD put out some Fatbobs with mid controls right from the factory, a year or so later they were all forward control only from the factory.

I’ve never ridden the Vulcan, but I have ridden a bunch of other bikes. I own a 98 Shadow Ace 750 and an 04 Harley Electra Glide. I think the harley gets a little warmer than the Honda but it’s not a massive difference. The lack of the tach I think is a fairly easy hurdle to get over. I never had a tach on any of my bikes including a few older Harley’s prior to this one I have. I think the Harley would be a fun bike for you. I’m not a Harley fan boy by any means, I like all bikes. But there is something about a Harley. The torque and even that vibration become something you enjoy. The Fat Bobs are fun to ride and have a really unique look to them. Besides if you get it for a decent price, you could ride it a season or two and probably still break even if you decided you hated it.

I love Harley's, I've been riding a very custom Kawasaki Mean Steak, for 15 trouble free years, and 2008-2011 Fat Bob's really interest me (I love 2018 and up but cant afford one), I pretty much like all the Soft Tails, my only hesitation is what I keep reading about dealing with maintenance. I've become spoiled w low maintenance bikes. My 88 Magna ran perfectly for 72k, till I sold it, and my Kawasaki is bullet proof. But I have read several articles about that era Fat Bob, which ate all positive. If money wasn't an issue, I'd have a 2018 -2020 Softail Classic, Sport Glide, and a Fat Bob, oh yeah...and a Fat Boy. All gorgeous bikes. METRICS? I would take custom Valkyries, Vaqueros, VTXs, and Vulcans (what it's it w the V's?)

When I was looking for a bike And considering a Harley a friend of mine said do you want to ride your motorcycle or do you want to work on your motorcycle? And I kept looking and looking and then finally the deal on my 2009 Vulcan 900 classic came up and it was a deal I could not refuse. So at this point I don't think I'd consider a Harley let's make you good touring bike if I plan on going across country. One thing I was wondering is what video system do you use? How do you have good audio on your ride? I have a GoPro hero 3 black but I'm having a lot of trouble since it's older and the batteries are older and I was considering getting something easier to use but the hero 7 apparently does not have a way to hook up audio as an inside motorcycle helmet so looking to your information on that. You may want to do a little story about how you get good clear audio while you're riding. Good luck on your purchase if you do make it.

Thanks for your comments David, I will take them into account. I use a chin mounted Hero 7 Black for video with the GoPro mic adapter attached. I then run a small Sony mic into my HJC CL-17 helmet and tuck it inside the cheek pad with just the mic head sticking out. I have two foam wind protectors over the mic head. I always use a chin curtain and keep the visor 3/4 down when videoing. This seems to do the best job for some reason. I’ll try to get the model number of the mic for you if I can find it. Thanks and hope this helps! -Tripp

A friend of mine that I'm actually going to be riding with this weekend has a Honda goldwing for long trips it's an older one of 1980s vintage and he has a virago I believe that's from 1983 also but he has high mileage on both of his bikes he also has a BMW and a few other bikes in his garage anyway if I was wanting a second bike for longer trips I may consider the gold wing myself. By the way this weekend's trip is going to be in Central Utah called red white and road. If you want to see anything about that motorcycle trip go to AYLTV.com this is going to be my first ride with this big group in many many years. The last time I was on a ride with a big group was when I was stationed in the Netherlands. And then I had the smallest bike so guess what position I was in yep bringing up the rear. anyway I saw another comment on your thread about insurance and other factors so you may want to price insurance before you buy. Good luck either way

Steve Ruby Could be on a few of those but definitely no tach or gear indicator (other than neutral) on the 2009 model.
