Should I Ditch My Broomstick Putter?

In 2023, I headed down to South Carolina for the TaylorMade Qi10 product launch. I had the new TaylorMade Qi10 MAX in play and also my broomstick putter. Watch this video to see how I got on at Cliffs Valley for 9 holes, and why I'm thinking of switching away from my broomstick putter.

You’re 6’4” playing a 47”, but your stance doesn’t look like the putter fits you comfortably. I’m 6’4” as well and playing a 46”. I’ve noticed that most of the pros are playing broomsticks at the same length to their driver so I did the same: Glover 45”, Scott 45”, Zalatoris 44.5”, Hun An 45”. If you were to take an inch off your putter I think that would help tremendously. Good luck, I know the struggles all too well with finding a putter that fits, but the broomstick really is magic if fit properly. Also, stick with the 79.5 or 78 lie angle. You want it to sit as flat as possible. Heel up is fine, toe up will lose you strokes and that’s what your misses currently look like in this video.

Try the lucas Glover type grip... let your hand lay comfortably (mostly at a 45 degree angle) and just pinch it. I tried this claw grip for a bit and as soon as I discovered your hand needs to naturally hang it will keep you on plane way easier. Almost like your pointer finger sits more on the top of the grip? May help!

Had a broomstick a few weeks and loving it. I have spent quite a few evenings down the practice green finding what works and for me I really enjoying putting and trying something new

The broom definitely takes commitment and experiment to be successful, I've wanted one for a while but I know in a couple months time they will be all over ebay.

yep. Fast greens were a recipe for disaster with not a lot of practice

If you're interested in selling it let me know? I'd buy it and have it re-weighted for my specs. I love the cappuccino color it's my favorite out of all of them by L.A.B. love the content as always. What an awesome experience that must have been with Taylormade.

@GolfmagicPlus 🤣 well I tried. If you do decide later on I'll still be interested. That green on the DF3 looks pretty good from what I saw of it. Good luck with it. Another great putter from L.A.B. By the way I noticed on a few of your putts you had the face a little closed. You'll break par with it you just need some practice time.

You can be a top putter played for donkey years on and off got a great coach had top custom fit at Northampton GC off 4 reg take 40 putts a round am now putting great so confident now believe I can now get down to scratch this year best of luck with your game love your stuff

Is it a putter issue or misreading issue. It seems like the latter. Maybe try doing Aimpoint or another way to read the greens better

it's a bit of both, but definitely pilot error. I have now switched and i'm a lot better off

Probably the hardest greens i've played on for a while. Very fast and grainy!

You missed the short one using the broom like a conventional. Looked like a speed golf round I’m sure if you went back and kept to routine you be lights out.

Yes you do! I am 65 years old and have been using the long putter for 50 years! U do not look comfortable using the broomstick putter! Go back to a conventional putter or maybe a armlock putter? P.S. I will give u $300 cash for the Lab! Just joking, I think this type broomstick Lab is going for $500-$700?
