Well if it was said by words, there’s no genuine evidence in of to be taken to court, even if they do take her court they won’t win the case because it would be unlawful. There’s needs to be a contract on consent with all of their signatures or the grandma would have to leave a will or clause stating that the house would be split between.

When a parent passes away, people get greedy. I knew it ... the people that ignore parents for DECADES come out of the woodwork when they think that person is going to pass away. My sister that does NOTHING to help my dad and almost never speaks to him I think calls him just to see if he is still alive. When he passes away I GUARANTEE you she will be in every persons face asking for money. I feel for this woman on the phone. Frankly, shes not legally obligated to do ANYTHING.

Smh. It’s true sadly. My grandfather has built a good little wealth. Nothing too crazy he’s probably worth about 1-2 mil total. My uncle lived 3 states away and wasn’t even raised by him but all of a sudden he moves up here right when my grandfather gets diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. They are waiting on him to die to get their money. Smh. And him and my dad are battling over power of attorney. Sad situation how money can tear apart families. There’s a college fund for me for 70k and I’m not in college so I told them to use that for him.

The two had nothing to do with the mom the last 2.5 years of her life, until the last 5 weeks? Yeah, kiddos, that's why the other one got the house. I get it, sometimes you have to cut family out of your life, but if you do, you don't have any right at all the expect a darn thing from them when they pass. You don't in a good relationship either, but especially not when there's been estrangement! Greedy kids.

K H-C I’m sure it mostly happens that way but, not in my case. I did everything but, my sister gets a house now and I have to wait, perhaps, decades. Never so much as gave my mother a birthday or Mother’s Day card but, as my mother is coming to appreciate the weak, more usable child, I’m out - and so is Mom.

I can understand how she's tempted to do it just to shut them up and to get them off her back. Mom leaves the instructions, but she's gone. She doesn't have to deal with these two entitled brats. The daughter is the one left behind to be pestered by these two leeches. Not a fun place to be for the daughter. I might do it ( pay them their chunk), on the condition that they have signed away any rights to the proceeds from the sale of the house. I'd get a lawyer to make it official. They get their chunk BEFORE the house sells, don't come looking for more when it DOES sell.

This is a perfect example as to why Wills & Trusts should be a part of ones estate. The absence of these documents causes problems with the heirs. The issue she is now facing, in my opinion, is that her siblings do not believe there was any kind of "verbal agreement" and that the house should be sold and any funds divided equally or, in the absence of a sale, that she buy out their interest in the property.
@ashanticrawford6033
@ashanticrawford6033 8 жыл бұрын
The verbal agreement is the only thing that even benefits them. There's no reason for her to even say it unless it was true, because it would hurt her. If there were no verbal agreement in place, they would get nothing because the house was already legally left to her (I assume).

too bad Wills and Trusts cost money - one should be able to type up their wishes on a word doc, have it notarized (which is a $30 fee at most) and be done but no - that won't stand up in court bc you didn't pay a lawyer $2000/$3000 to get it done. =(

If she pays them, she needs a lawyer so they can sign off from all future property claims. As time goes on the property value will increase and will come back for more. I'd pay them in small monthly payments until each recieves the $15k mom promised. Besides that if mom didnt write a will, why did she tell them what mom said?! AND...AND... What mom promised died when she did. The sister owes them NOTHING.

So much emotion surrounds people who get put in this position. I'm in a similar position myself in which my grandmother has added me to the title of her property. Her sons and daughter are all financially destitute and would devour the property like a pack of hungry wolfs. So she left it to me and told me under no circumstance am I to sell it and let them have money from it. She know's they'll waste it on stupid cars, cigarettes, drugs, ect. So...guess what. When they come calling. I'll send em packing. They want to get mad at me. SO BE IT. I am responsible for executing the wishes of a human being that did something with their life. I will not fall short of that responsibility just because some looser guilt trips me.

My parents' verbal request - when they pass away - are to sell everything they own and split it three ways. That way there is no argument to who has how much of everything.

She's being bullied and pressured to give them money. It's sad what $15,000 can do to a family. It's time to stop being a doormat, I wish I learned that much sooner than I did.

Her siblings are upset because of greed and thy have chosen to take it out on her through intimidation and blame shifting. She needs to stand her ground and follow through with her mothers wishes. Genetics has absolutely nothing to do with your Bank Account or personal finances. End of story, period!

Absolutely blows my mind how people act when all of a sudden they feel entitled to things especially money! If someone doesn’t want to be in your life before money then don’t let them in when you do. They are FAKE! Sorry she has to deal with this.

Yeah I'm really glad that he addressed the issue again because he gives her advice and then she turns around and still tries to figure out where wave can I pay them off it's like disgusting you know and he says oh they're really mad and this is one time because I don't always agree with Dave Sunrise but this time he really really nailed it on the head like he got this one exactly right they're never going to be happy how dare they be mad especially acting like they're mad with the sister their mom just died these kind of things upset me even more because I actually don't have family no Mom Dad grandparents even my older sister got murdered they just reopened the case because they think they know who the Killer is like I have no one and so far $15,000 they are going to act like this towards their sister and honestly even the collar kind of started getting me upset like she's trying to do anything she can to make them happy and I don't know the chances are 50/50 that these people talked her into some house tell him that house or getting the money disgraceful

My mum appointed me as sole beneficiary and executor of her will. She raised me as a single mother of an only child. I was a good kid who didn't let her down. Mum wasn't rich but was prudent with money and left enough to cover her costs and a little more, which I appreciated. If her sisters had needed help I'd have been happy to help them, but they are prudent too. Of my two cousins one had cut off our family for years and the other made one bad financial choice after the other. I felt no guilt re my mum's wishes for her estate.
