Orwell is irreplaceable and he’s pre-emission. What you need for a backup is a 389 Glider with a Detroit and a 13 speed with a 72” flattop sleeper. So you can alternate every 3 weeks. This way one is in the shop and getting a little love and the other is working. I’ll pinch you so you can wake up out of the dream. Great Videos Thank You 🙏

I don’t think you should “replace” him, but I do think he’s worthy of a full resto, and should sit when conditions aren’t ideal. Pretty him up, make him a complete head-turner. Steve, thank you for the cinematography of your channel. Your use of multiple camera angles is very well done. Orwell is almost 40 years old and probably has quite a few million miles on him. Plus a lot of the miles in snow and ice! Peterbilt 362 and Caterpillar 3406 B are a strong combination. Cat engines are rebuildable for good mechanics. The engine and truck are a reflection of your above average skills, knowledge, and abilities. Today’s Technicians replace parts with computer aided diagnostics. You are a true mechanic. People need to recognize that you are a rare breed with superior talents as a business owner, driver, mechanic, videographer, father, etc. No smoke just fact. Congratulations!! NO WAY that truck is cool as hell a real head turner. So few cabovers left out there working! You have put so much time and money into it now you may as well keep going. Mechanically it's got to be close to done at this point. It seems to me you have replaced all the major and important components by now. She still needs a bit of TLC but sh'e a work in progress. Some paint, a bit of interior work and some wheels and she would be like brand new. It's only going to go up in value good 352 and 362 are getting hard to find in good road worthy condition.

I drove my 82 K-100 VIT for 26 years over the road. You have to stay on top of it. Especially running Canadian winters. You learn what it takes to wear a truck out. I never abused it, but time and miles takes a toll. If I might offer up a suggestion, I’d change that seat. Your body will appreciate it. I parked mine in good running order in 2007, after I returned from my weekly trip to Winnipeg from Toronto. Just nosed into my spot and turned the key off. That was it. I sold it 2 years ago to a guy who already has a restored 82 just like it. He’s doing my old gal over now. So it still lives. The best dreams I had I’d be driving that truck, but I haven’t had one in a long while.

We are now restoring a 1957 Kenworth conventional put a walk in sleeper and the back clip of a 2002 Kenworth with air ride. Also has a Cat 1693 engine with a 5 and 4 trans. I am glad you decided to film the day before Seattle, the views are awesome. I have a 2012 Ford Explorer with 150K miles. Like anything that moves, shit breaks or wears out. She sees my preventative maintenance as expensive and the car less trustworthy. I laugh and tell here if, and IF i spent an average of $600 per month (which i don't) on maintenance and repairs, I am still pay waaaaaay less than a new vehicle - and no monthly payments. Maybe, just maybe if she would agree to travel the US coast to coast by car, I would consider replacing with a newer model.

They all need working on, older & newer trucks, keep Orwell that way you don’t half to deal with def, dozer valves, nox sensors, dpf filters, def filters and let’s not forget that (one box) when you start replacing that stuff, it adds up FAST

1) Keep and drive Orwell 2) I have seen, but do not know how true, the price of a used truck is nearly half from a year ago. Buy a used truck that will generate income. 3) Repair/ Rebuild other truck. 4) Or, buy more used trucks if you want and if freight will allow. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your video's.

I started driving in a 1984 freightliner cabover I drove that truck for 6 years until a lady in a car pulled out in front of me instead of hitting her and the 2 kids in the car I layed it over in the ditch. Some day I will get a another one. You have a really nice truck and yes its old and have problems but you own it and can fix it there is too many steering wheel holders that dont know the first thing about working on old trucks. You Keep up the great videos. If you get a chance watch Wild Wild West Trucking on KZfaq he has a few old cabovers like Orwell. I like watching you and Tim Gentry how your not afraid to hustle and work I grew up the same way.

Things break. Life goes on. Now you know where the weakest spot is on the stacks. Do they make a flexible joint that can also support the vertical weight? Your 'final' fix will probably make it a lot more stiff. Good luck.

Orwell is a working truck, so while it would be awesome to see a restoration, that means Orwell is down while being worked on. I make a point to watch every commercial that pops on your videos just to try and help a bit for possible funds for s restoration in the future. Stay safe out there.

Great video Steve really enjoy all the different camera angles and your commentary and the music. Maintaining Orwell can be a grind and there is always something to fix or repair at times. However your doing the best you can do till you get some help. Stick with it Steve you'll get it done stay safe.
