I think Google is doing the right thing by focusing on year over year improvement. That's how Apple got to be as big as they are. The other thing is Google needs to sell their products in more countries if they really want to grow their hardware base.

Google Pixel needs its software and hardware and features, also to work in other countries outside North America, Europe, Australia.. It should also make versions that will work in other countries. Features such as E-Sim, Call screening are not available in all countries.

I was stuck with iPhone for ten years and Pixel was the best way to leave them. I personally have never dealt with any Pixel bug. After a while you realize Apple doesn't innovate, why does Siri still suck, why are you still forced to arrange a home screen icons how they want you to, why do you have to pay $999+ for hardware features that Apple says are "pro" but yet find the same 'pro" features on sub $800 Androids.. just a thought. But again to each their own.

I've been a strictly apple user since the first iPhone (I was 21 when it was released) ever since then I've had just about every iPhone. I started yearly upgrading with the 11 pro. This year I got the iPhone 15 pro. I watched the pixel keynote and was impressed. When pre order rolled around I pre ordered the 8 pro and the regular 8 to see what one I like better. It was a fairly easy crossover. I've never used a android and I must say I was impressed with Google OS. I thought I wasn't gonna like it at all and not get the hang of it but I am. I went with the 8 pro and my husband is going to use the pixel 8 I bought. He switched from iPhone to the flip 5 this year and it wasn't such a easy transition for him. So he's wants to try the pixel out. I also went with the pixel watch 2 (I had the series 8 Apple watch) and I went with the pixel buds pro. So far loving everything about the switch.

I was a professional systems administrator in the Apple and NeXT world for many years. I've owned or used nearly every Apple computer from the 128K to Macbook Pros of 2019. But I got on Android and not the IOS phone from the very start. I liked custom ROMs and hacking to force tethering when iPhone couldn't or was made to pay $30 extra a month on Verizon. I use a Pixel 6a and a $25 cheap Chinese smartwatch knockoff (Tozo S2). Perfectly acceptable to me. I'm so much happier using something that won't kill me if it gets stolen or broken, and I paid half the price that I could have with Apple. Perfection is the enemy of good enough.

I switched to Pixel after 13 straight years on iPhone a couple years ago. It wasn’t hard to switch. I loved the Android experience and came close to buying a new Pixel 8 Pro. Instead I got an iPhone 15 Pro Max through a carrier deal to go along with my iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. I was tired of missing the texts in my family’s group chat. But I won’t be getting another Apple Watch. I like my Pixel Watch much better and was never a fan of the Apple Watch. I’m going to try to find a deal on a Pixel 8 Pro so I can just roll with both. Life’s too short to just deal with Apple’s boring trajectory. I’m already missing the Pixel camera and am finding it more difficult to get clear shots on this iPhone. And then there’s the horrible lack of easy customization.

I switch between Pixel phones and iPhones, and while I stand by my opinion that Android is much more intuitive to use than iOS, their hardware Avd software issues are persistent. App crashes, overheating, failing hardware, sluggish performance, poor reception all still plague Pixel phones. iPhones are expensive, but they are made extremely well and rarely do I ever have any hardware issues or major software bugs. Out of the roughly 6 Pixel phones I've owned, most of them had some sort of serious issue, and it's just hard to be loyal to a phone that is so reliably unreliable. The ecosystem and reliability of iPhones are unmatched. I'm typing this on a Pixel 6a that takes a few moments to register charging after I've plugged the chord in and where the power button doesn't want to work half the time.

No, no they shouldn’t. Even Google knows iPhones are superior than Pixels, that is why they offer more trade in value for iPhones than their own Pixels. They really don’t care about what the existing owners feel about that. If they really valued their customers, they would offer more trade in value for their devices than iOS. Even in some Google or Android apps, they feature iPhones.

A loyal user base. I really don't understand that concept. I feel no emotional attachment to any company. I'm only loyal to certain people. A phone for me is a utensil, it doesn't offer quality of life. Apple's ecosystem is much more refined than Google's, but that doesn't make me loyal. It keeps me captured. Switched to a Pixel after more than 15 years of iPhone usage and I'm satisfied. Maybe I'll switch back somewhere in the future, but only if the user experience gets better, meaning I'm able to customise iOS the way I want to. Honestly, I am torn. I had an iPhone 7 and an Apple Watch 3 which I loved. In 2020 when it was time to upgrade - I was actually pissed at Apple at that time. I wanted an iPhone 11 Pro I think it was...but I did NOT like "forced" gestures, I liked having a home button and Touch ID. I didn't want a "cheap SE iPhone..." I looked into Pixel - which was a different phone back then (allowing icon shape change anyone?) and the Pixel 5 just had everything I wanted then. I don't regret leaving Apple then - and I was DEEP into the ecosystem! I had the watch AND an iPad hooked to my phone! I didn't care, I wanted a home button (3 button navigation) and Touch ID! So I left Apple and switched to Pixel. I am now at a point where I'd like to go back to Apple. I didn't think much about leaving Pixel until I got the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2. I thought this was going to be the BEST Pixel phone yet. Got it October 2023, It's June 2024 and I am on my 3rd Pixel 8 Pro! Now I know why they said the hardware isn't good! My 1st Pixel 8 Pro had a horrible random restart issue, it would reboot BY ITSELF whenever it wanted. Sometimes it'd be on the table doing nothing, sometimes I'd be scrolling, sometimes I'd be showing someone something on my phone. HATED it! Got sent a 2nd Pixel 8 Pro and everything seemed good. Well why wouldn't my Pixel Watch 2 suddenly not connect to Cellular? Google and Verizon tried EVERYTHING - even sending a 2nd watch (it didn't connect either so it wasn't the watch) the only thing that fixed it was getting a THIRD Pixel 8 Pro. And truthfully, I prefer the square watch face of my old Apple Watch 3 anyway. I have now given gestures a try after using 3 button navigation forever. I still prefer my Touch ID over Face ID...but I'd say after seeing the upcoming iOS 18 for the iPhone, they're actually getting MORE customization than Pixel at this point. But I am stuck with the choice I made for now. Once this Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2 are paid off...I am coming back to Apple. Only Touch ID, emoji kitchen, Magic Eraser, call screening and a few other things I'd likely miss from Pixel. It's okay, maybe next time I will get a phone with forced Face ID and no option of Touch ID, but at least it'll likely actually work right the first time.

iPhone users are not critical thinkers. They buy whatever apple produce, and never look beyond the apple eco system. To most iPhone users, everything else is just not an iPhone... and therefore is just not on their radar. As a user of both android and apple phones... I would love to not have to use the iPhone at all. If google dumb-down android to attract iPhone users, it will degrade the user experience and reduce the adaptability and flexibility of android phones and tablets.

I have always been a fan of apple products even before smart phones were invented!!🤣 Yes I’m that old. So when smart phones came out and went straight for the iPhone. In 2020 I tried the Pixel 4 and it was awful! I returned it in less than a week. I recently decided to carry two phones one for work and a personal phone. At first I got a second iPhone but traded it in for a Samsung galaxy. I did not like Samsung. I returned it and got the Pixel 8. So far I actually like the Pixel 8. I’m pleasantly surprised.

Just keep in mind that the iPhone 15 series does not have a physical sim that can easily be swapped out between it and your android phone when you get bored with one. This was why I returned my iPhone 15 Pro Max and then bought a premium renewed iPhone 13 Pro Max from Amazon. And tomorrow, I should receive a new Pixel 8 that I am trading in my good old Pixel 5 for (Black Friday deal $550-$230 for the Pixel 5=$320.) This way I can have both and just switch back and forth. One thing I have noticed in many years of using both iPhones and Androids is that iPhone receive notifications like Gmail, Twitter and others much quicker than androids for whatever reason, I wish Google would fix this.

iOS is not easier . . . Everything is ass backwards! Settings aren't where they should be, app permissions are buried or non existent. The level of customization is awful. And don't get me started on how ugly the layout is, especially the quick settings or whatever they call it. Want to turn off your location, that's fine but the phone will give you a popup when you do ANYTHING to tell you that location is off. Awful phone experience! iphone users have just "grown up" with it and don't know there's a better time to be had with Android these days.

I've had a Pixel 7 Pro for 9 months or so. The main problem is the scrolling. It's REALLY bad. Noticeably awful. And I can't understand why and how Google have not managed to fix the issue over the course of the monthly updates. I don't want to switch to iOS but when I see how perfect and seamless the scrolling is on even an iPhone 13. It makes me wonder if I shouldn't just sell the Pixel and buy a used iPhone and actually make some money. Anyone else frustrated with the scrolling issue?

Google doesn't even stand behind their own hardware. Samsung, Apple and even Motorola will give you higher trade in value for a Pixel 7 Pro than Google. Just bought a S23 Ultra for less than a 8 Pro would cost.

I'm planning my switch from 10 years of IPhone to Pixel. After reading & watching countless videos, there are still many unresolved issues with no solution (yet): - Airpod Pro 2 are irreplaceable (the PixelBuds are nowhere close in micro & noise cancelation quality) - Apple watch is far better than the Pixel watch - I can't airplay music to my home theater system - I can't remote the Apple TV any longer - I can't transfer the Apple live photos to Google Photos without losing the live feature :( - Find-My : I could use the Apple Website to use find-my for my remaining apple products - Linking Apple Notes with Google Keep should be feasible but not sure - I can't airdrop full resolution photos to my macbook and, worse, not to anyone I encounter on a trail or a hike in the nature without access to internet etc. Once I figure out solutions for the problems listed above, I will switch. The camera on the Pixel 8 Pro is far superior (not only from a technical, aka sensor size, perspective but also from a usability & feature perspective: the Pixel lets you take long-exposure shots and motion-blur shots for fast moving objects). I wish it was easier to switch..

I used to have Samsung S22 Ultra but decided no more Samsung due to the extra Samsung apps that just complicate things with apps that I dont use besides the extra Samsung account needed.

I just did after 15 years of iPhones (don't like where Apple is going tbh). Got a Pixel 7a which is a greatly priced smartphone (399 and it's Kudos to Google for coming up with such a phone at such a price) and transition was surprisingly smooth (transferring all data from the iPhone). I'm actually really satisfied and Android is packed with all sorts of things that I find much more user friendly than iOS (really nice OS too). And I'm not a nerd by any means. I just want things that work and are easy to operate. Was about to take the plunge on the Pixel 8 but then I've found the 7a which is almost half price and does a real lot. Couldn't be happier.

I've been an Apple product user for what seems like forever. What you say about these to phone makers is mostly true but where Google innovates and gives users what they want, Apple detracts in the name of innovation. They did away with expanded storage but so did everyone else. the straw that broke the camel's back though was doing away with the sim card in favor of e sim in the US. an obvious attempt to build carrier loyalty. i own the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max and have no intention of upgrading. i already own the Pixel 7 series and find them fast becoming my daily driver. I'll wait until the next iteration and then it's goodbye Apple and hello google. Thanks

Upon reviewing, the major issue with Google lies in officially selling Pixel devices in only 23 countries, with an additional indirect official sale in India. Seriously, Google... out of 193 countries, only the elites will have the privilege to purchase your products. Whether this is a strategy to keep the product niche and avoid bothering other manufacturers (which I personally hope it is) or sheer ignorance and questionable planning remains to be seen.

I have had every nexus and pixel. Currently using pixel 8 pro its great but its downfall is its modem. I lose connectivity all the time whilst my wifes and sons iPhones do not. The pixel is the only true Android phone that isnt fluffed with crap like Samsung phones. Pixel is the only reason to move to Android otherwise just stick with ios. I stupidly bought an additional phone for work being the flip 5. Using the flip 5 clarified why id rather use an iphone. People are just as crazy about Samsung devices than people are with iphone and on comparison Samsung devices are super overrated. Its not hype nor exaggeration that apple devices just work. People get too carried away with icon packs etc. For every day tasks the iphone does it with simplicity this is what the pixel does too that makes it ao comparable. Samsung users want fireworks, spinning bowties everytime they click a button.

I switched from iPhone and the Apple ecosystem as I became a power user. It was the ability to push and control presentations to conference room flat screen TVs without using an Apple TV. I loved my Pixel 4 XL experience and then switched to Samsung S21 Ultra. Currently daily driving a Fold. The Android platform isn't understood by most influencers. The platform has a vast ecosystem. But the user experience is based on the manufacturer. Apple is the only user of iOS. The Android experience is based on the overlaying software that controls the look and user experience (Ex. Pixel Launcher and Samsung's One UI). Generalizing the Android experience favors Apple by lumping in the lesser OEMs that don't provide their own ecosystem of products and don't update their devices for as long as Apple, Samsung and Google. Just looking at Google's Pixel and Samsung's Galaxy, these two have vastly different experiences even though they are Android based. So how come we never talk about iOS vs. One UI or Pixel Launcher? To compare iOS to all of Android is like comparing Tesla's ecosystem of cars, charging stations, home charger and solar panels that all work together vs. gas engine based cars. This doesn't mean that all gas cars are equal, like a Fiat is the same as a Toyota. Just because Tesla provides a convenient ecosystem doesn't mean they make better cars than Toyota. The manufacturer adds a lot to the base platform to provide an experience for their customers. Based on what Apple users and fans want and expect, Samsung is the only Android based competitor that can provide a similar or better experience. Besides smartphones, they have smartwatches, wireless headphones, tablets, computers and an abundance of appliances: TVs, HVAC, microwaves, refrigerators, and more... Their One UI experience is seamless across their mobile and computing devices. Is this because of Android or because of their One UI software integration across the Android and Windows ecosystem? This is a tiresome argument of iOS (Apple) vs. Android. It is a flawed comparison. Android is just a component to be built upon. What the OEM does on top of the platform defines the experience. Ex. Google Photos features and layout is different from Pixel to Galaxy Z Fold. Z Fold layout transforms when switching from Cover Display to Inner Display. The S Pen provides additional editing features exclusive to Samsung. Pixel has a editing features that exclusive. Both Android based, not the same. So let's stop being lazy when comparing an Android based device to iPhone. Compare the OEM's OS overlaying Android to iOS. Android has an ecosystem that eclipses Apple. But what matters is how the manufacturer is able to tie it all in for a great customer experience. It is fair to say that Samsung is Apple only true rival in hardware, software and global availability.

@@jessyk2579 Well, unlike Apple, Google values interoperability more than anything. This is why its services are successful in the first place. But Pixel phones, Pixel watches, and Pixel Buds have many locking features as well. For example, AI. Pixel phones have always been known for their AI features that are exclusively available on Pixel phones only. Also, for music on Pixel Watches the best app is hands down KZfaq Music where all the other music apps just don't work very well. Also, Pixel Buds can switch between your multiple Pixel devices and any Chromebook you have. But at the end of the day, Google is a software focused company than Apple. Google wants interoperability to exist.

@@sclifton8709because google has duo which is now Google meet and you have been able to video call for ages. Just doesn't have an apple branded name. Don't even get me started on iMessage. The most scurvy pitiful useless function in the iOS/apple ecosystem. As a worker in IT at a university I'd say more than 90% of devices that are brought in failing are unable to update their os. Due to a tonne of data imported from a phone. And there's the pictures and everything else filling up your tiny crippled hard drive that cost the consumer 3-5 times as much. So then you gotta show them how to delete files. But you can't even delete system files which clog up more than half the storage space. There is no visual application to check storage and see what the biggest offenders are. But wait. Disk inventory x came out in mac os 10 yet apple has never had the foresight to buy the company and integrate it's graphic display of hard drive space and linking to finder. I have to agree that apple products are just not for critical thinkers. Because if you've ever opened any mac, to see a cluttered desktop, on a system which nobody understand finder, and by default doesn't even show you your hard drive? You've been hoodwinked into believing the money you laid out was well spent. The "it just works" argument is no longer valid when we see operating systems in 10.x.x but can't upgrade due to the amount of ecosystem contamination from owning more than one device. I won't even let anyone plug an iPhone into a usb port on any of my computers. Just evil reporting back to 1 Cupertino Blvd to tell the ghost of Steve Jobs how many tracks I bought from iTunes. Rubbish.
