The cheapest Tesla base price is currently 40k for the model 3, 47k for the Y, 88k for the S and 98k for the X. Those are the minimum prices for base model of each Tesla model. In contrast not counting trucks Chevrolet offers 11 models starting under 40k, 7 under 30k including EV's. You have to choose the suburban, tahoe or Corvette to find a chevy with a starting price above 50k and none of those are models with direct competition from Tesla. The reason Tesla doesn't market their low prices is because they can't without getting laughed at. It gets worse if they admit that most of their add ons are non-transferable subscription services that can simply be disabled by Tesla even though the cars are still capable of performing the functions.

@@tripnils7535 Incentives like those that apply to the Chevrolets including the government tax subsidies for their EV's? When you argue that they have one model that might qualify it highlights the point that you missed which is that their base prices ARE high and that they do not offer anywhere near the number of options of Ford, Chevy or Toyota. Half of Telsa's offerings start over 88k. When you add in all of the other issues, extra costs (like home charger installs) and limitations of owning a Tesla it is absurd to make the argument that they are actually not expensive cars. I don't hate Tesla's, if it was not for their interior designs and quality issues I'd probably own one. I just cannot abide disingenuous arguments like this.

@@tripnils7535 Thankfully you've mastered the use of vague and disingenuous language to tell us that you don't actually understand how much it cost to own and drive a Tesla. The only reports you'll see that support your claims all rely on a generic average for comparison. When compared to specific vehicles the claims fall apart because the Telsa's have to overcome their higher initial cost and then take a couple of years to balance out. They also do not account for the decrease in capability and other general limitations of using EV's for long distance or high mileage travel. I am not anti-Tesla, i and simply anti-bullsht, and most of the environmental and cost saving claims for Tesla's are BS.

It's extremely unlikely you ever need to replace the battery throughout the lifetime of the car though. There's plenty of Model S from 2012-2013 out there still with the first battery. And battery tech has improved tremendously since then.

The average I've spent on cars in the last 5yrs is about $18,000.... these were all fairly new cars with very low miles... not getting a Tesla for that.

Most Tesla's sold use LFP batteries which use no cobalt. The Tesla's that do use cobalt are child labor free. Now what about your petrol that uses cobalt during the refining process?

@@lord_jarl3508 Tesla's battery break down after 500k miles with home charging and 1 million plus if LFP batteries. The only scenario where a Tesla battery doesn't last long is if you ONLY use superchargers where it only lasts 140k miles. But using a home charger just once a month would double the millage.

The range of a Telsa battery is between $5,000 and $20,000 in 2000. The range for a gas powered car is $50-$300. On the low end its 10000%. The high end is 6667.33%. AND WHAT?

@@theadventureinsider Have you looked up the terms of the warranty? The battery can degrade 29% and it's still considered good. Add cold weather battery inneficency to that. Battery replacement here is $23,000 if the car makes it over the 8 year mark. At that point what is the car worth.? Bon Chance.
