Former Duluth resident…. you have so much to learn about Duluth. Lots of cool history. Google the North Shore too. Been listening since the beginning baby! Also if you wanted to make it Minnesota you should link up with some UMD Duluth Bulldog hockey players (Back to Back Natty Hockey Champs a few years ago)

Random City to become experts: Macon, GA. Tons of random stories and facts, but a starting point would be the rise of homelessness in Macon due to the 1996 Olympics in ATL. GA government got tons of homeless people in ATL, put them on busses and shipped them to Macon to “clean up” for the Olympics

Duluth, MN native here. Never thought I’d hear my hometown mentioned on this show. Billy mentioned bunkers, Duluth was actually a top target of the USSR during the Cuban missile crisis due to the shipping industry. Additionally there are old surface to air missile sites north of the city that still stand to this day, without the missiles of course you can see from overhead. An intruding bear caused a soldier to nearly trigger the missile defense system as he mistakenly thought it was a human intruder as well, so there’s your interesting Duluth fact you can bring back for the next Nanodose episode. Lastly, it’s become very gentrified over the last decade so that’s out the window. Sorry, Billy. Edit: If barstool wants to go there and needs a tour guide, hit me up I can show you all the hidden gems outside of the usual tourist attractions

My parents are from Duluth, we went there a lot growing up maybe 5x a year. 2-3 hour drive from the Twin Cities. Its a dying city, which is a shame cause its probably one of the most beautiful places in the country. But its a lonely place and Im sure it will be a shell of itself in 50 years, if it isnt already. It is the largest freshwater port in the world however and it moves a lot of taconite ore out of the Iron Range, heading out through the locks and dams of the Great Lakes and out into the Atlantic to mainly Russian ports and far reaching trade routes. But yeah its a lonely place. Cold in the winter. Summers are a jewel and you'll see nothing else like it in the US. I guess Maine is kind of similar from what I hear. Also northern Wisconsin and the UP but there isnt a city like that anywhere along that stretch, maybe Marquette MI but its much smaller. The Duluth Eskimos were an old NFL team that played there. The Packers used to travel up to Duluth by train and play games up there in the 1920s. NFL games in Duluth! Fucking crazy.

My dad who’s a lawyer committed a white collar crime and did 30 days I. A federal prison in Duluth and the prison was so nice they had to shit down the bowling alley because an inspector said the prisoners had it to easy 😂 not even joking you can look it up my dad said it was like going to summer camp with more rules
