Beautiful home! My husband and I are 55 and we moved from Seattle to retire in Florida for warm weather. Cambodia is not a safe or peaceful place to retire. Their healthcare system is horrible and always cash upfront.

Weather in Cambodia now is getting hotter. Don't forget you have to have money to attend to many invitations all year round as well (house warming, birthday, wedding, new year, Pchum ben...). Your safety and reliable health care must also be taken into consideration.

Health care is the prime concern. Medicare would not pay for health care outside US. Private health care for retiree(s) living outside US, esp Cambodia would cost around $1200 each person a month.

I like most of your detail narrative video. I left Minnesota in 1985 to California for job after graduating with my BSEE. I used to live in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and last place was Eagan Minnesota. I used to volunteer at Wat Minnesota in Eagan or Bloomington? I don't remember exactly the 1st wat khmer in MN. I am going to retire soon. I haven't been back to Cambodia since i left in 1979. All my siblings are in California and Sydney, AU. My decision is simple. US Is my 2nd home. I have no plan to retire in Cambodia. Life is good here. Fortunately, i have been working with one of the biggest defense companies, which has a pension plus additional pension to pay for supplemental health insurance. I will be 100% covered with $0 copay. Weather here near San Francisco is the best in the world. It is hot only a few weeks/year. No mortgage loan. My case is very easy to make a decision. If i retire in Srok khmer (my pension + SS), i would be live like a king, but i won't. I am happy where i am at closed to friends and families. BTW . I watched one of your video clip, you seems to be very knowledgeable about religion. You mentioned that you were minor in a religion major. Did you go to Uof M Twin Cities? When i went to U of M, there were only about 10 khmer students. There were a lot of Vietnamese students. I am glad that i went to University both undergraduate and graduate school to become a professional SW engineer even my degree are in EE.
