Congratulations on the new Spyder! Love the color!! My wife and I purchased our ‘18 RT Limited a little over a year ago. I came from being on 2 wheels the past 12 years. Guess I will go ahead and give you a warning though: once you get really familiar with the Spyder you may find yourselves making excuses to go on rydes! Do give yourselves time to get used to the handling. It took me a few hundred miles, then everything just clicked. We thoroughly enjoy ours, it’s the perfect machine for us. Enjoy!

Glad to see two new happy faces on a Spyder. Hello and welcome from Arkansas. My wife and I ride together and bought our 2012 RT limited used in Tulsa for our 30th wedding anniversary. Three and a half years later we still are in love with our ShaLar. Word of caution, watch the antenna when getting on. On our way to Key West right after we got ours, the wife kicked it plumb off. Lol. Replaced it with a snubby. Hope you have safe rides out there and enjoy.

Thanks for sharing, I've been researching for the last month or so, and it was nice to see your experience from beginning to end in the purchase. I was leaning more towards to the Ryker, mostly because I don't think my wife will ride so much (but my son will!) Only thing holding me up is figuring out how I'll store it in the off months. I have a garage, but no driveway, and we have SUVs that neither of us would want to put on the street. If I can figure that one out, I'll be riding soon...
@WanderOpenRoads

Keith Wills Glad you enjoyed the video Keith! We decided to park our car in the driveway to Jeep our blue baby in the garage, so yes I definitely understand the dilemma. The Rykers are definitely nice but we love the storage compartments on the Spyder RT, I’ve been able to store all the groceries for a normal Walmart trip in the bike so you can’t beat that. Hope to see you on the road soon 😎

👍🏻 Looks like you had a blast! I have been a rider for all my life. My 1st bike was a old Cushman scooter!!! It was bigger than I was, LOL! My last bike (man I miss that bike) was a 1997 Valkyrie STD. The wife and I would ride with her cousin and her Husband. He has a Ultra Classic Harley. I had a stroke a few years back that I really survived quite well, however my balance never returned 100%. Then I saw the Spyders, hummmm. That could be our answer to getting the wind back in our hair! Thinking about buying a Spyder this next summer. I drive for a living and it’s no problem. Drive about 250 to 300 miles everyday. Earn lots of safe driving miles each year I’m on the job. I’m like a UPS/Fed-X driver. However my company isn’t quite that big. We are not tiny by any means though. We have offices in 7 Midwest states with over 1800 drivers. Everything from 1 ton Chevy vans up to 18 wheelers!

Thinking one of these might be perfect for me and the Mrs. we rode 2 wheels for years, however I had a major stroke a few years back that has robbed me of my balance. 2 wheels would not be ideal anymore, so the Can Am fills the bill. However the cost is very high in my mind! I sold high end luxury cars for almost 20 years and understand deprecation too well. Cars and bikes almost never go up in value. A clean used one would be the best by $ wise. Not in a hurry so my research continues.
@WanderOpenRoads

Dj Project That sounds like a great plan, we had an older gentleman in our 3 wheel class that rode 2 wheels all his life and was making the transition. Hopefully you can find a good used model, we looked used first but there wasn’t availability for the model we wanted unfortunately. Best of luck to you and if we can answer any questions, let us know!

I purchased my 2019 F3T totally loaded with the upper bin, built-in backrest, and two extra speakers, giving me a total of six speakers, luggage bins on both sides. It looks just like an RT only the engine isn't covered and I don't have floor boards. I will fix the floorboard situation in the future and the only gripe that we have is my wife says she catches a lot of heat off the engine or maybe it's coming from the catalytic converter now that I think about it. I'm hoping the floorboards front and back for the passenger might deflect the heat a little bit. I bought it from Pitbull Powersports in Missouri, they have three stores, Springfield, Joplin, and Bolivar. They're one of the biggest sellers of Can-Am Spyders in the nation. Mine was a demo, even though it only had three miles on it. I purchased it out the door for $19,500. I really don't think that's a bad price for what I got. I've only had it three months and I've already put 3,000 miles on it. I started riding motorcycles when I was 12 years old growing up in Colorado. I quit riding at 56 and I'm now 58 with the Can-Am Spyder. I only quit riding two wheels because my wife no longer felt comfortable riding on the back. She really enjoys riding on the back of the Can-Am with the exception of the heat but she says it will be nice in the winter time.

Wonderful Video. I will be following you guys. You are so informative. I live in Cumming Georgia, and am an retired Air Force Vet. I have admired motorcycles from afar but do not like the 2 wheel models. My question to you both is how can I get my wife to feel comfortable with me purchasing a Can-Am? I know she would love it if I could just get her on one. I plan on getting the Spyder RT Limited and I want a 2 seater so we can travel like you two do. We travel a lot and having a Spyder would add so much to our trips. I will be a new motorcycle rider and am going to follow you lead in getting my license first and going from there. I pray I can eventually get my wife to ride with me and ride the bike herself or get her own. I would appreciate any advice you would have for me to get my wife onboard and any other advice in buying my first time Spyder that you learned when you brought yours. Again, wonderful job on the video and looking forward to seeing more in the future. GOD BLESS and safe and enjoyable riding. Hope to meet you on the open road one day.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Since you have to get your motorcycle endorsement added to your drivers license anyway, I’d suggest both going together to take the class just like we did. You can learn how to ride in a safe environment and you don’t have to already have a motorcycle. After the class, if it’s not for her, you’ve only spent a couple of hundred bucks. But once she gets on one, I bet she’ll like it too. I hope everything works out!

1st of all you will never fit in with the harley crowd. That being said think of why you want a spyder. Because u want to feel the ride. The spyder offers that along with alot better safety net. Im 42 bought a spyder this year put over 6thousand miles on it. Get alot of curious questions mostly from other riders. I bought this for me. Not for other people. Lenny Smith My wife and I decided that we wanted to definitely ride together and not have separate bikes. This model is comfortable for both of us and I’ve also added the back rest which helps the driver on long rides. The storage is fabulous, we can buy $80-100 of food at Walmart and fit it in the storage compartments. Plus it’s great for day trips, bringing along lunch, a backpack for hiking, etc. We’ve done a lot of riding this summer as you’ll see from some of our upcoming videos and we have no regrets at all. I took the same course, same place you did. Even though I had ridden 2 wheels for a long time. I learned alot more than just the Spyder Operation.. have you had any other experience with Speed Zone? service. warranty .? Looking for a place to shop and Speed Zone and Mtn Motor Lithia Springs are about the same distance from me. But I've heard several folks growl about Mtn Motor. cheers

So, did I understand you correctly? If traveling in your RV you would tow the Can Am? Also, can you take the class at any dealership? Thanks for posting.

Thanks for watching David! Yes we tow our Can Am with our RV on a trailer. We have a KZfaq video that shows our trailer and how we tow. As for the class, we want to the Can Am website and they had a list of dealers and locations where we could take the 3 wheel driving class for our license. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info that was very helpful, does the RT limited have a detachable trunk or is that just on the Sea to Sky?

Congrats and Thank you for this informative and inspiring video. I am wanting and going to get a Can -Am but I am torn between the Ryker and the Spyder.

Thanks so much! There are definitely some differences between the two models and I’ve seen many posts of Ryker owners who upgrade to a Spyder but definitely not the other way around. I’d go with the Spyder all the way

Great video. I did a similar process (bought a '20 RTL, took the 3WMC MSF course in order to waive the DMV driving test) and really enjoying the Spyder. In my opinion, one other "after market" item to consider is the Handlebar Riser sold by Lamonster Garage. I'm 6'2", 220 lbs and I think it makes a more relaxed ride having that little bit extra height and slight setback on the handlebars. Again, my opinion only. Link follows if you decide to check it out: www.lamonstergarage.com/2020-rt-handlebar-riser-lamonster/
