Many of the Wii U games that are ported are only slightly enhanced. Buying the Wii U versions saves a ton of money. It’s criminal that Nintendo charges $60 for a port.

I got my wii U back in July 2015 for my birthday. I've been playing it ever since. I am actually glad I've been playing and enjoying it especially since all it's games are switch games, and the switch has had so many problems. Some of these problems include... overheating, screen scratching, and of course joycon drift. I'm soo glad I've been holding off on the switch since we are about to get the switch pro soon!! Thanks wii u for holding me off for the proper switch!

having a Wii U was my childhood dream, and i finally got it this week. My friend sold it to me at a incredibly low price, the console and the gamepad + 7 games and 2 amiibos at $110. Im really glad i got it, im having a blast playing it.

I own the Switch and the Wii U and I have to admit, I adore both of them but there are features the Wii U has that the Switch doesn’t, and for being an “obsolete” console, the Wii U prevails in a lot of areas over the Switch.

Great video. One thing that wasn't mentionned, and one of the reasons why I started using my Wii U again, is the virtual console shop! You can buy all the great retro games that are not available on the switch.

I just dusted off my Wii U to play resident evil 4 for the first time. I always heard the Wii version is the best way to play it.

I bought it shortly after the Switch released. I got like 15 games the system with box and pro controller with box. The system was mint and I paid $200 Canadian and I sold a few of the games for $150. I am happy with it even though it just sits in my room mostly being ignored at the moment.

I picked up a bunch of Wii U stuff a few years ago. Arkham City is also a unique one. A very intriguing system.

May 31st 2021 update: Twilight Princess HD is now $90 used and Xenoblade Chronicles X has jumped from a price of $25 used to $50-$60 used. As for Devil's Third, it's a game whose price will only every continue to increase. On Ebay, most of what you'll pay or end up paying by the time your bidding war is over will be $250 - $300+. I do like the game and I would recommend it, but if you're not a collector then you can still buy the digital version of the game from the Wii U E-Shop for only $30. Anyway, great video for a very underrated console!

I already have 3 Wii U's for some reason, and 60 games for it.. might comb over the library again to see if there are any others I want to add before they possibly jump in price. I definitely got all the tiles I know I want.

I remember buying the WiiU bundled with a physical copy of New Super Mario Bros. U/Luigi U. I thought it was a great system then, and still a great system now, even though I don't play it much. My biggest concern with it was that I was always afraid that I would drop that massive controller and break it sometime! BTW, there was also a physical version of Ducktales Remastered offered on disc for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. I actually own the PS3 version myself.

I would say it's now or never to get one and still totally worth it. Even though most of the games have been ported to Switch, they are still as fun as ever on their original consoles. On top of that, the console can play Wii games and has a super robust Virtual Console library, or if you want to down the hacking route, being able to emulate almost every Nintendo console to the Wii U. Also Xenoblade Chronicles X is worth it alone lol. Given how poorly the console sold, now's the time to hop on board because this is likely going to become the console equivalent of Vita collecting.

Devil's Third is $30 on the eShop, just got it a few weeks back. It's actually a really cool game. Yea there's jank in it and it feels like something off of the PS2 but who cares? It's like playing the movie Commando. It's so over the top and cheesy but that's what makes it worth playing. It's not for everyone but if you want something old school and don't mind spending $30, you really can't go wrong.

I've got a Switch, but the WiiU (and the 3DS) is (are) pretty tempting thouhgh!

I like your videos. You seem very level headed and very informative. I love my Wii U. I got the Splatoon version and still play Splatoon online. I liked the system and had thought about seeing what other games were out there. I started collecting Wii U a year and a half ago. Are the games cheap? Initially yes, but now, NO! I was getting games at Game Stop, Goodwill and other local video game stores. I was able to get them regularly for under $10. Now, the ones I was getting for $2 or $5 are up in the $20's. Hello Kitty Racers is over $50 now. I was hoping to get a complete collection (128 as of today), but unsure now as this is a hobby and I have a home, wife and child to provide for, so I don't know if I will ever get Axiom Verge or Tokyo Mirage or Devil's Third now as each one will take me over three months each to save up to get them as these prices are skyrocketing.

I LOVE THE WII U ♥️ It may have not of been the "cool kid on the block" but is my 2nd favorite system of all time. And to be honest, it's not much weaker than the switch in terms of performance. The main issue I had with the Wii U is the KZfaq channel, all it is does is crash but other than that I'm pretty satisfied. Also, the Switch ports don't look much better. If you own or owned a Wii U there really isn't a point of getting the Switch other than the new Smash etc. I personally didn't like how the switch tries to make games look more animated or cartoonist while Wii U tried to make the games look more realistic with the half a teraflop while the Switch has 1 and the so called "Remasters" don't look Remastered. The only one that I would say was worth calling a remaster was "Dark masters" but that was Remastered for all systems. So my opinion is if you had the Wii U, you aren't really missing much not having a Switch.

Would you recommend buying a used Wii U to replace my Wii that just quit on me (no longer reads discs). Is a used Wii U generally reliable? It would be primarily for my kids to play Wii games on. Hesitant to buy another Wii as they are getting old now and don’t want to run into the same problem.

I didn't buy one when it was commercially relevant because of the price of $350 and I was happy with the ps3. When the switch came out I was able to get one in the box with a wiimote and sensor bar with Zelda Breath of the Wild for $110. I've got around 50 games since then the vast majority for dirt cheap (got Rodea The Sky Solider double pack, Hello Kitty Krusiers, Funky Barn and Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics all under $10). For a few years the most expensive game I bought was Twilight Princess for $20. There technically are 4 games over $100: Devil's Third, Book of Unwritten Tales, Game and Wario and (technically) Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition. Also can't forget there is one digital only must have game (in North America) that's only available on Wii U which is Fatal Frame 5 Maiden of Blackwater.

I really like my Wii U and prefer it over my switch but that is mostly just nostalgia. Practically, there's really no reason to buy Wii U anymore when the switch exists. I'm also pretty nervous when using my Gamepad these days because I know how hard that thing is going to be to replace if it breaks. It's so ridiculous that Nintendo requires it to set up the system and change the settings. There's no actual reason why it should handicap using the console like it does. Hopefully someone will make a third-party Gamepad at some point but with how few consoles were sold I'm not holding my breath.

Believe it or not, I prefer the WiiU console over the Switch. However, you can't deny that the WiiU game library is horribly lacking. I didn't know about some of these games, like Hello Kitty Kruisers. If that game didn't seem too easy, I might actually buy it. I love arcade-y racing and dogfighting games, ala Diddy Kong Racing. Too bad. I bought a bunch of WiiU games back in 2015/2016 as it seemed Nintendo was going to discontinue it. I did get Bayonetta 2, Tropical Freeze, NES Remix, Xenoblade and Twilight Princess HD. Wish I knew about Devil's Third.

Just picked up my second Wii U. I'd say yes. If the previous owner used the store those downloads are locked to that unit. and you can redownload. My first one had 50+ Wii V console games. Bonus. My second never used the store.

WiiU is awesome. People who hate on it have likely never played it. I mean, think about it; Nintendo released a ton of fantastic titles for the system that were then ported to the Switch. WiiU gamepad allows for mobile gaming, yes it's limited in range but it's still an option. Game pad is much more comfortable to hold. The eShop is still available and has some serious gems to download. It has a built in Wii and you can play Wii games exclusively on the gamepad. It can also be softmodded to allow for GCN support and tons of other emulators. The list goes on and on. Point being, the WiiU failed financially but that doesn't mean it was a trash system, it's essentially Nintendo's Sega Saturn/Dreamcast. Those systems were considered flops but they're absolute classics.

Just dusted off our Wii U, almost never used. It is time to give it a go!

I love the Wii U I think if they had marketed better and got more 3nd party companies to make games exclusive to the Wii U it probably would sold better I think with switch they took one step forward and 2 steps back Wii U has lot features missing on the switch had better virtual console and better and more organized eshop and better home menu with more personality

i dont know why reviewrers dont talk about this issue with the wii u some games weather new or used are pronged not to work weather its a disc or your system just thought id let you know because im putting it out there i have had disc problems with my copy of Super Smash Brothers For Wii U gets an error every time i go in to classic mode for some reason i get 150 after a few minutes of entering and my Splatoon i got all these games used doesnt even read the disc for some reason and it doesnt have scratches or anythin anyway my Star Fox Zeros and Pikmin 3 work just fine like i said i stil enjoy it reguardless if its a hit or mss with certain discs working

WiiU is a great console. I bought the ZombiU-Bundle at it's release and i always loved games which include the gamepad-features and choose them over other versions. like Deus Ex HR, Splinter Cell Black List, ZomBiU, Project Zero, Xenoblade x etc. Also Devil's third is a fun game. Didn't know it's price rise that much, but glad to hear ;-) Switch in comparison is just boring. Feels like a downgrade.
