Should You Buy God of War in 2022? (Review)

God of War came out in 2018 as a playstation exclusive, sorry xbox players at least you still got Halo. And this game also won Game of the Year in 2018 over games like Spider-Man and Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red dead 2 is many people's favorite game of all time so that should speak to the quality of game this is. I did play this game a couple years ago but I was waiting to make a video on it because the game just released on pc as well and everyone is starting to get hyped about the sequel God of War Ragnarok that is coming out this year. Now even though this did come out on PC, I kinda already owned the game on playstation and I just got a PS5 so I wanted to flex that a little bit and see what it was all about. And seriously this is one of the best looking games you can play, the video does it nowhere near justice, just what a stunning game I couldn’t get over how good it looks and feels. This is the fourth main installment in the God of War series and essentially a soft reboot. The main character is still Kratos of course except in this game he’s much older, he has a son and he lives in Midgard so we’ve gone from Greek to Norse mythology. So I re-played the game in 2022 and in this video I'm gonna give you my honest thoughts and opinions on it and whether or not I still recommend God of War in 2022. I played this a few years ago on my ps4, but i recently got a damn good pc and hell this game on ultra and 60 fps is just amazing, it was one of the best experiences i've had on the pc

Just finished story today. It was FREE on PS PLUS a while back and I added to library and didn't download.....until now. What a game. Not without flaws, but epic, beautiful, at times breathtaking, exciting and overall really took me by surprise. First in the franchise I have played. The game def inspired me to read up on the history of Kratos (within Franchise) and indeed both Greek and Norde mythology in general. Cannot wait to play Ragnarok.

Should you buy God of War 2018 in 2022? Yes. Absolutely. And buy the rest of the series if you can (Ascension isn't mandatory, IMO). The story of the Greek Saga elevate this game's story by a mile. Also, the first God of War has very excellent level design, especially for a game released in 2005.

I need to go back and play this! I was halfway through had to stop due to life, but definitely get to playing it! It’s so good and deserves all those rewards and nominations. It’s just incredible

My all time favorite is god of war 4(chronologically). Everything about this game is legendary. Kratos is my favorite protagonists of all time. Every character is the game is very good. And christopher judge is my favorite voice actor. For me there is one problem with it is its repeated enemy types but everything else is just phenomenal. I can't tell all the good things about this game as there are so much good things to covey.

Completed the story amazing game 10/10 but the endgame I couldn’t trying to kill the Valkyries was pain gave up on the first one too much of a headache on easy difficulty 😂

I played this game back in 2019 and loved it. I was going to wait until I got a PS5 but I wanted to relive it again. This game looks better than I remember. On my new 4K tv it looks amazing even in 2022!

Yes you should. Just finished the game yesterday. The father and son story was so refreshing and indeed beautiful. I am a Spider-Man fan through and through but, this is just as great if not greater, if I'm being honest. The gameplay was so fun and easy to understand. The ending was so beautiful and satisfying. I loved this game! Can't wait for Ragnarok! This was the first gow game I've ever played all the way through and I'm now a fan. Now I wanna go back and play the others!

Started my 1st playthrough with give me challenge difficulty, with tweaking some accessibility options, holy shit it's unforgiving like dark souls, but rewarding at same time 🔥💯

my main problem are the enigmas, they are mostly not intuitive and most of them use gimmics that are used only in that section of the game

The railroading can get a bit annoying at times. The spike chamber after the first shop I had to look up how to get past the spiked ceiling, but that was probably me just being an idiot. On the flip side though, the heart of the mountain can be quite annoying on your first playthrough, especially on your first playthrough.

Hi I just got a ps5 and want to buy a game soon to experience the new adaptive triggers and better graphics. I’m interested in Ragnarok but haven’t played the 2018 game and am not interested in playing a 25 hr game in a rush. I do like story but don’t want to spend 2 months finishing an old game. Any advice?

I’ve 100% the game on ps4 and just started to replay it on ps5 with a newer tv then I Originally played it on and the game looks even better then before with much higher frames and crispier graphics😍 if you have a ps5 or a pc I highly recommend picking it up again before Ragnarok comes out later this year

I bought a PS4 pro from a friend in early 2020 and I tried playing this game but the PlayStations fans got so loud that I couldn't bare to play it anymore. Sold the PS4 pro to GameStop and didn't lose any money (only paid $200 for it which was the same trade in value) I got a PS5 bout 3 months ago and after recently beating horizon zero dawn I started playing god of war again and absolutely am in love with it. So glad the PS5 is silent cuz I can't handle loud consoles or PCs due to preferring speaker over headphones

You played ragnarok before 2018? If so then I recommend playing 2018 then replaying ragnarok to get all the references to the first game

I’ve played this game and to be honest I felt unsatisfied. Don’t get me wrong it has good gameplay and story but I expected more. It just feels like the last of us but with magic and Gods instead. Characters thesame and so as the enemies. Similar short locations. The fast travel system was confusing at times.

@@hxnnid yeah man the game sufered because of the new "mature" direction. Imagine if this game was linear and more action packed and big. A 10 hour game litterly feels bigger than a 25 hour game because of how repetitive it can be

I just started playing this in 2024 and can say it's one of the best games I've played so far. Absolute masterpiece once I'm finished I'll be purchasing Ragnarok
