@@teacherpaco Hey Paco - That seems like a pretty good deal price wise, and mileage is also quite low for that year! In regards to what to look out for: Specifically with these cars, you want to look out for the following: - Clear coat fade (very obvious if it's there, especially on the hood, roof and top of trunk) - Third gear grind, shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at a high rpm and ensure that the car shifts smoothly, you'll feel and hear the transmission grind if there's something wrong with the synchro's - How much oil does it burn? DOCH VTEC Honda's are famous for burning oil so it's normal almost all of them to burn a bit, but as long as it's not smoking out the exhaust and the owner doesn't have to add 4-5 quarts between changes, you should be fine. 1-2 quarts between changes is relatively normal for these cars, although less is ideal! In regards to what to look for in general: - Any accidents? - Any rust? - What has been done in terms of maintenance? Does anything currently need to be done? - What mods have been done and have they been done professionally? - When you're driving it, does it make any unusual noises? Those things should help you get off to a good start - all the best with your purchase!

No way coupes are lower wider shorter the coupe is rolling artwork the 8th generation was the first where the coupe has completely different sheet metal from the a-pillars back the sedan is wedgy asf

@@Txcowboy80 overall they got the major dents they missed a couple of small dings that aren't really noticeable. they got rid of the rust around the wheel wells. They sand off the original paint and clearcoat from the car and start from scratch so those faded patches aren't a issue again.

Civics from 06 to 08 tend to have engine block issues, due to a problem with the alloy used on them. The engine breaks. I suggest you to get one from 09 to 11

@@limahead134 Hey thanks for your comment! I believe the engine block issues were mainly on the R18 engines, which was not the Si trim level, but everything below (DX, LX, EX, etc). But you're correct with the years though, from 06-08 it was a more common issue. The K20 engines (Si trim level) were built stronger and have been known to be a very reliable engine (apart from burning oil). One big thing to look out for on the Si between 2006 and 2008 was that a handful of the transmissions had synchro issues. Honda addressed this issue though and it was far less common from 2009-2011. Thanks again!

@@limahead134 They are FANTASTIC cars. Especially the 8th gen (in my opinion). It was the last generation that Honda released such an amazing, high revving fun engine like the K20Z3. Don't get me wrong, newer Si's are also a lot of fun but there's something about an engine screaming past 8000RPM that just can't be replaced. I've hit 160 MPH in my 2010 civic si, and that was even before intake , header back exhaust, hondata and customer tune.

@@KingdomAuto yes they are governed, but for some reason when I baught my car from the dealership. It never had the Governor put on. They will do 260km in stock form - it takes awhile to get there though.

Get the valves checked & adjusted if it wasn't done already, replace the valve gasket too; did you get anything else serviced or know if done prior? I'd change all the fluids (engine, tranny, coolant, refrigerant, clutch, & brake) since ppl are pretty neglectful.

@@JohnDoe-vn2kh Usually they tend to rap on them but get a compression test and warmed up test drive to gauge the engine & tranny quality

I hear a lot of good things about the 10th gen's - especially the handling. I haven't driven a 10th Si but I have driven the Type R and it feels like it's on rails even stock. But I definitely agree that the high revving K20 will be dearly missed. It would be really nice if Honda brings back a car that can break the 8k rpm mark stock again. I miss that a lot.

Yeah good call on the paint, I’ve seen paint failure on some other Honda’s as well, like the Pilot and Odyssey, seems like it’s mainly with the white paint. But the clear coat was across multiple colours. Agreed though, those K24 engines have a lot of useable torque! The K20’s had the better top end but it’s not uncommon for the K24’s to “feel” faster just because of the added torque and change of the powerband. Both options are fantastic though, reliable and tons of fun! Just stay on top of oil changes and make sure the timing chain tensioner is in good health and you’re pretty much good to go for years Thanks for your comment!

@@KingdomAuto along with better serviceability than my current car,, 13 Avalon 3.5, in a couple yeah when it's paid down enough I'm going to be aggressively looking for a Civic SI 2.4L. I have a daughter to thing about and in day to day driving, the higher torque will serve my needs better that a higher top end

That seems like a pretty good deal. They hold their value quite well, so a lot of times it depends on supply/demand. If there aren't many for sale, the seller can bump up the price a bit. 114k miles isn't much on that car though so hopefully it runs well for years to come :)

Wow, that's a very rare find these days. Honestly I am not sure how much it would go for, but it seems as though a clean 8th Si with over 100,000 miles goes for at least $8,000-$9,000 depending on location. If you have such low mileage, might be worth asking $13,000-$15,000 - maybe more??? I haven't seen one with such low mileage for years so I'm really not sure, but that's pretty incredible though!

That is a fair deal. I usually see si's under 10K that range 110K-200K. $11k-$14K are those under 90K miles

Thanks for your comment! With regards to the car you're looking at purchasing, I would *try* to find one with less mileage (if you can). If you can't then you're right for looking at the newer 8th gen Civic's. From 2009-2011, they had less issues than 06-08 :) When it comes to the transmission fluid change - it's recommended that the fluid is changed every 50,000kms or so from Honda so great that the previous owner has changed it for you. This won't really do much, if anything at all if 3rd gear has an issue though. It might make the shifts a tad smoother but if the transmission has synchro problems, then you'll feel that when shifting at high RPM regardless. When the test drive happens, just ensure that the car is shifted at high RPM's a few times through the gears to see how it does. Hope that helps and all the best on the purchase!

It really is a great car and very fun to drive!! A tune + some light mods will REALLY change how it drives. It will pull quite a bit harder in the high RPM's and will really "wake up" the response. Hard to believe an NA 2.0L engine can perform that well and still be so reliable

Same here i have an 09 civic si sedan bought it 5 years ago with 43k miles on it im the second owner , love this car , no mods yet right now shes at 142k miles still running like a champ , only things i have replace was a pulley , brakes and spark plugs so far .. oh and the starter

I’ll get it painted soon so no issue there.. my dads a mechanic so we checked it out and it’s good.. it has a injen intake and a invidia exhaust on it already.. Congrats on the purchase! Hope you enjoy the car for as long as you own it :) That’s just a carbon fibre wrap actually. The shift knob and that cover come off very easily so I just took it off, wrapped the plate and put it back :) Hope that helps

The wheels are 17x9 with an offset of 35 all around :) They just fit in the front but they do clear the suspension. Also, you're going to need to run a mild stretch and at least -2 degrees of camber to have no rubbing unfortunately. A more ideal setup for these cars is an 8 or 8.5" wheel with around a 35 offset, that way you'll clear the fenders for sure. Then again, if you don't mind your tires rubbing the fenders then go for the wide setup haha. I'm not sure about the coolant though. Sounds like the car *might* be drawing some coolant into the engine which is usually a head gasket problem but hopefully that's not what's causing the issue!

AKSOXTS What price range are you seeing? I’ve been doing the same here in Pa. There are 2 cars of interest for me both 2008 but one has 94,000 the other has 72,000 both listed at a dealer for 10,995.. they appear to be in the same condition but I still need to look at them there’s no way I’m paying the same price for the same car with more miles lol. In the same breath there is a 2010 si sedan I’m looking at tomorrow with 86,000 on it for just under 10,000 (can see working that down a bit too) that seems more reasonable

Thank you! This car isn't mine anymore, sold it about a year ago but I had 17x9 wheels with 225/45/17 tires. The wheels were made by Fast and the model is called the Hayaku. Apparently they don't make that specific spec. anymore unfortunately. I was really happy with the setup though!

The CSX is basically the same car with the exception of the base CSX models vs. the base Civic models. The CSX Type S was essentially the same car as the Civic Si aside from the fact that it came with leather interior and usually a navigation unit. The base CSX model actually comes with a DOHC Vtec 2.0L K20 engine, just like the base RSX models. It's not tuned the same way as the Si/CST type S engines and uses some different internal parts, so it puts out around 160hp and 135 ish Tq but it's definitely an improvement over the base Civic engine which was the 1.8 and only SOCH. Other than that, they were the same cars :) Regarding the deal, yeah that actually sounds like a pretty good price. Low km's and quite a fair price considering the Acura's are almost always priced higher than the Civic's :) Hope that helps!

I'm sporting ebach lowering springs. Price is affordable and the ride is stiffer but not harsh. If your on a budget this might be the way to go.

Oh boy this going back a ways. From what I remember: Skunk2 CAI + alpha header Invidia q300 cat back exhaust Flashpro + tune Koni shocks in the back, Truhart in the front Neuspeed sport springs Fast hayaku wheels - 17x9 Don’t remember the name of the front lip but I had one on there. And that’s about it. I had a rear engine mount as well to help with the header movement. I’m pretty sure that’s about it maybe apart from some other cosmetic things

This car had a Skunk2 Intake, High flow catalytic converter and a Invidia Q300 cat-back. Sounded REALLY good. Not raspy at all.

Auto transmissions can be tricky to diagnose without taking them in and getting them inspected. I would start with something simple and easy like a transmission flush and then fluid/filter change to see if that fixes anything. If not, it might be best to take the car to a transmission shop to diagnose it

Very generally speaking, a 2 door vehicle will be a little more expensive to insure, but this really depends on your record and insurance provider. That said, these cars are usually classified as more of an economy vehicle and from what I've seen, they are usually very reasonable to insure. Your best bet would be to call your current insurance provider and ask them to quote you on pricing, for both a Coupe and a Sedan and then you'll have the concrete numbers for yourself :) Hope that helps!

A buddy of mine is around your height and he found the 8th gen (Sedan and Coupe) to be a little smaller inside than some of the previous gen Civic's (especially if they have a sunroof, as that removes some head space). I am only 5'10 so I can't give you a good perspective. If you don't need a sunroof, you would definitely have a little more head room, but I would recommend taking one out for a drive and determining if you have enough room. I hope you're able to fit!!

@@KingdomAuto Looking back on it, I have to agree! Not too bad for a stealership. I did go check it out and, although it was the color I wanted, it just didn’t feel like the one. Not too long after leaving my original comment, I ended up finding one a couple hours away for $7k and only 112k miles! 2 years later and I still own and daily my 8th gen Si sedan. Kept it mostly stock with the exception of a Mishimoto SRI. Favorite car I’ve owned so far. 🙏 Since we’re in a seller’s market and with how hard it is to find a stock sedan, I’ve thought about selling it for a quick down payment on a M340i, but I honestly think I’d regret letting it go. 🤣

Sold it around 3 years ago just because our family was expanding and we needed a bigger vehicle. It was such a fun car with so much heart and character. Sure it wasn’t the fastest thing out there but something about an 8+ thousand rpm redline and that silky smooth transmission made it one of the most fun cars to drive. If it's not a scam, that sounds like a pretty good deal! I'd definitely go take a look at it, go through the basics - no accidents, transmission shifts well, clutch doesn't slip, does it burn oil, clear coat fade, etc. But if all those check out and the engine is still running smooth and strong, I'd jump on that - great deal if it pans out!

How much are you getting it for? If it's well maintained and in good mechanical shape then yeah you're likely getting a good car - I just hope he doesn't charge too much for it :)

That's tough... Have you tried re-charging the system? It's very easy/inexpensive to do and could be the problem, especially if your AC clutch is engaging when you turn it on. I've done this on a few cars now and got the AC nice and cold again. Hope that helps!!

They're made by Fast and the model name is Hayaku. They're a 17x9 and +35 offset but unfortunately Fast doesn't make them in that spec anymore :( I believe they still make the Hayaku though. I really like them too!

Hey, Honestly in Euros I'm really not sure. Sounds like it might be a tad expensive if I'm using the current exchange rate of Euros to CAD, but mainly because the mileage is slightly high for that price. I would say your best bet is to compare with other similar cars in the area to see if that price is decent. Hope that helps and all the best in your search!

I was told by honda the deadline to get the clearcoat repaired by them has passed for these models a few yrs back. I recently took mine to macco and got a brand new paint job everything was just under 1800

@@aprildickerson2065 I actually wanted the whole car done it was places that I went that wanted to do just the spots where the clear coat was peeling and quoted me higher what sense would it have made for me to go that route and just do "spot work" when the entire car essentially has that issue and down the line have to take the gamble in possibly kicking out more money to do more work?

Sorry to hear that! For an Si with low mileage like that I’d just get a reputable shop to fix the clutch and drive it for another 150-200,000 miles. Those things will go forever as long as the oil level is maintained and you stay on top of oil changes :)

Seems like a decent price and relatively low mileage. 2006-2008 non-Si Civic’s were prone to a big issue with the engine block, it would sometimes crack meaning the car would need a new engine. I would be cautious of that, and also inspect the paint as well. Those years had the clear coat issues too. If those things check out, and the car drives well then it’s a good deal for sure

So if you purely want a sporty sedan like the si then sure get it , it’s reliable , fun to drive , looks good , good mpg , and etc. however it won’t have the latest bells and whistles that some of these other cars have , specifically talking about the technology aspect of the vehicle. OVERALL It’s a great buy

Hey, so sorry for taking so long to get back to you here. My family and I were moving this week so it’s been very busy. If your main concern is reliability then I would recommend to stick with a more basic vehicle, even from Honda. The less “bells and whistles” a car comes with, me as a lower probability of something breaking of going wrong. Ensure the car hasn’t been in any accidents, has had regular service done to it and also that it comes certified and e-tested before you buy it as well. On top of that, if I had to suggest a couple models from Honda, the Civic and Accord’s are good places to start looking :) all the best in your search!

Thanks for your comment! The differences between the Si and the other models are actually quite substantial, even though they look very similar on the outside. The Si is much more fun to drive, handles better and is quite a bit faster than the others, but the engine and transmission are slightly less reliable than the non-Si Civics. The two biggest factors you want to watch out for about the Si (especially 06-08) was when shifting into 3rd gear at high rpm. The synchro's weren't the greatest and 3rd gear was known to fail and grind when shifting. Other than that, make sure it doesn't burn oil as well. The non-Si's were very reliable cars (not that the Si wasn't) - not much you really have to look out for if it drives well and shifts smoothly. If you are to look at an Si, I would say try to find one with less miles - for $7000 you will likely be able to find a nice clean Si with less miles than the one you're looking at. If you can't find one now, I'm sure something will eventually pop up. The Lx sounds like a pretty good deal considering the low mileage as well. Kingdom Auto Consulting So I came across a bunch of forums and videos talking about engine block cracks in all 06-09 Honda Civic models. You know any info on this?

In this market that’s not bad. 180k miles is getting up there for sure. Make sure engine health is good. Make sure it doesn’t burn oil and also that the timing chain tensioner is in good health. Or you can ask if it’s ever had timing service. Other than that, check over the other components and see how it drives, etc and go from there

Price certainly seems very reasonable! I would look into the Hybrid and see if there are any common problems with it, then ask about those issues when you go look at the car. Other than that, seems like it's a good deal!

Are we talking in Canadian or US dollars/mileage? That makes a pretty big difference these days haha. If Canadian $ then yeah that's a pretty solid deal, especially because the mileage is pretty low for that year/car. If in USD and in miles vs kilometres then that sounds a little expensive but still a good car to purchase if you can get the price a little lower. Hope it works out for you!!

2011 Si model has good resale value. It honestly depends how well it has been maintained, how many owners it’s been through.

Older gen si’s are wildly expensive. I saw a 2013 with 100k and they wanted 16.

Just purchased a 2011 SI Sedan 76K Miles for 11K. Clean, 1 owner, all 5k maintenances done at Honda dealership. Felt like it was my last chance to get an unmodified clean classic vtec. Love it!

They really are VERY fun cars. I hope some day we see another high revving NA engine from Honda, something about that just can’t be replaced

@@yukonstriker1703 I wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with something in the future with an engine similar to the K20. I’m sure it would be a limited production run, more for novelty but I wouldn’t put it past them just yet. Obviously one never knows but I’ll continue to hope :)

Those numbers are actually very common for the 8th Si. If you take a look on the forums and Facebook groups, you'll typically find that most cars make around 200-230 whp after bolt ons and a tune. I'm betting your dyno was just reading a little lower than what it's actually putting out OR the tune wasn't done very well. With those mods on your car and a good tune, you should be making at least 220whp. I'm in Ontario by the way - GTA :)

@@KingdomAuto yah apparently the tuner I used there dyno reads low - they said it would have been closer to 220 wheel with a dyno-jet, plus he said it could have made more power but it would have just been at the redline and it was alot more money. It's easy to make more power in Ontario vs Alberta - I'm from Toronto original, and it has to do with the air pressure or something. Thanks for the video! I've loved my 8th gen for year's, been such a great car. Very fun, and reliable
