I personally wrap the strap higher on the back of my head. The lower you place it, the more pressure on the forehead, so I just shorten the strap a bit and "let it hang" a bit so that I feel it resting lightly on my nose. I can get the full field of view like this :D I'd still like to get a proper strap though, because right now it's a little fiddly to get right.

Great review Naysy and yes concur, the MR is a game changer and the lenses. yes, yes and more yes, loving the productivity apps. I also think the stock strap is horrible. I was waiting for the bobovr m3 conversion kit, but after a week of waiting and no idea when they will be available, I brought the Meta elite strap with battery - very expensive in my opinion for what it is. The stock strap is literally doing my head in. The elite strap made a world of difference to me. If you don't want to pay the Meta excise, I recommend doing a little research and waiting for third party alternatives.

I notice when looking at a white surface, that the Quest 3 LED screen has a slight intensity variation across its LED screen that makes me feel like I'm looking through a very thin veil. I don't regret buying the headset, but it is pretty clear where Meta still holds back on what they offer.

I got Q3 and the strap actually feels way better for me than Q2, headset sits pretty well in place and it doesnt feel frontheavy like Q2 did. For me it eventually (~1hr) becomes uncomfortable on the face interface - after a while it becomes kind of scratchy. I think that having something like that silicone cover for Q2 would solve that for me. But definitely Q3 is way better out of the box comfort - guess its a face shape kind of thing (or lack of long hair). Battery life is the biggest drawback for me for sure. Will probably try the retrofit Bobo M2 Pro kit. The visual upgrade alone for me was worth - the lenses are amazing. When you put the headset on you realize how bad fresnel lenses were. Amazing clarity and pretty much everyting is a sweet spot. As for the AirLink setup - yes, there is some bug on Wifi 5 going around, but in general Airlink just requires a good wireless setup - not only a decent router but actually spending time on configuring it properly, looking for clean channel, cable PC to router connection and making sure there arent many devices hooked up to to Wifi. Also, for me Airlink works way better compared to VD.

My release day Quest 3 lasted 3 days before fan failure and being sent back to Meta, hoping the replacement last longer. The head strap feels horrible and gave me a headache, waiting for the Bobovr M3 to be available.

Great video one tip I learnt with the strap pull the strap at the back down as far as possible and then slightly tighten the strap at the front it is still not great but a lot more comfortable. Will you be reviewing any MR games as there are so many and they are quite pricey?

🍌 Great review Naysy. That sucks about the head strap being uncomfortable. Perhaps when Meta is making their next headset they could consider shifting some of the hardware to the side and top of the head for better weight distribution.

🍌 Thanks Naysy, i upgraded front the Quest 1 so am seeing a big upgrade, i do miss the blacks on the OLED screen, I want to buy a more comfortable strap too, but I want it to fit in my official meta quest 3 case, and am not sure if i should buy the meta elite strap with battery as I have seen there are problems with it and wondering if the actual strap can break easily. Do you know of any alternative straps that will fit on the quest 3 in the official quest 3 case? Thank you.

Banana. I got the Quest 3 as my first VR headset and am really enjoying it so far. With that said, I replaced the strap with the elite strap almost right away which was a significant improvement. I'm okay with the lower battery life as I find it is good to take a break every couple of hours anyway (I get about 2-2.25 hours of beat saber on default settings), but understand that may not be true for all.

I got the BoBoVR M2 to M3 conversion kit, the Quest 3 went from being incredibly uncomfortable (Face pad felt abrasive amongst other things) with the stock strap to being VERY comfortable with the M2 / M3 strap, even the face pad lost it's abrasive feel. I cannot recommend this strap enough. Great product and with the external battery of the M2 / M3, the Quest 3 can be used longer. If being used mostly for PCVR, go from 120hz to 90 (mine defaulted to 120), this will save some battery life, also turn off passthrough and hand tracking, this will also extend battery life.

There are reports the BoBo battery is insufficent for the extra power of the Quest 3 and at most you get an extra 30 minutes which just sucks. Is this true? Is it worth the upgrade becasue of this or shall I get the Quest 3 Elite strap + battery which should give an extra hour?

@@dtrjones If you run your Quest 3 with all the features turned on (120hz, passthrough and hand tracking) then yes, the BoBoVR batteries drain fairly quick, the nice thing is they are hot swappable so if you have a few batteries on hand, then you can stay in the Quest 3 longer. Be careful of the Meta Elite strap with battery, there are reports the battery part is starting to cause problems. I have all those features turned off and when using my BoBoVR battery, the Quest 3 lasts pretty much as long as my Quest 2 did, the BoBoVR battery actually charges the internal battery as I use the HMD. :)

I wanted to upgrade but I will stick to PCVR with my Quest 2 which works flawlessly with airlink for me now. Mixed Reality is cool but I cannot justify the cost as I don't see a killer app or game for mixed reality on the Quest 3 now.

Agree that the tracking on beat saber isn't great for the 3. looking forward to the comparison for the pro controllers. I've been debating on picking them up.

Banana! I know I'm late to the party but I just got the Quest 3 for Christmas. Agree on all points... so much so that I've already got a docking station (increased recharge time and somewhere to set, but overpriced) and a BoboVR M2 head strap with battery pack on the way. It's very frustrating to have to spend hundreds of dollars more to make the device usable as far as comfort and battery life are concerned....but this is my first VR machine and I must admit I am enjoying it thoroughly. Enough so to fork up the money lol

Think I'll stick with my Quest 2 for now and wait and see how it does after updates and more games take advantage of the upgraded power. The comfort thing is big for me as even with the pro strap the 2 still gets uncomfortable after a bit. I had to upgrade to a vented foam face pad and that helped, but nothing worse than getting a headache 20 minutes into a game. Also using the link cable my Quest 2 works just fine with PCVR and works "most" of the time over air link. I'm sure the 3 will get better, just like the 2 did, but I'll wait it out for now.

the quest branded elite strap is pretty comfy fro long term gaming, I dont have a lot of hair so I wouldn't say there's much cushioon between my scalp and the strap. it feels as if ist floating on your face. although I never got to try it for the 2 cuz I was tight on money then I can for sure see why ppl splurged the extra money for the comfort, I was a hard head that tried to make the stock one comfy at all costs and got sick of the constant head tightness

I would bei nterested in a guide on how to get the best experience with PCVR experiences. And your personal favorite games in both environments of quest games vs. pcvr games. Maybe for Cozy days, days for fitness, days for action.

I found as long as I keep it fairly loose on the back and take most of the weight with the top strap it works pretty well. If you try rely on the back strap it crushes your head though!

as someone with a quest 3 im really enjoying it however the passthrough that was showed in the video is slightly off because the true passthrough of the device is grainy and any devices you try to use are VERY bright

yoyo This question kinda goes out to anyone but I was going to direct it at Naysy first; So I have had a Q2 for a while now and I've had little issue with airlink things, the one major issue I've had which has caused me to never even use it is, no matter what, I can't focus on what I'm looking at. Either i read something close and it's blurry, or I read something mid-far range but can't make out the letters while everything else gets blurry. I feel like the best thing I can do is push the headset into my face when I get the chance to do it. Is there something I can do for this that I'm missing? Or is this something that an accessory could help with? I don't wear glasses or anything and I think this has been my only real barrier to diving in. Thanks!

It's not just the head strap but the default face cover puts a lot of pressure on the face very stiff can't wait for vr cover to get there version out until then I found that adding the quest 2 silicone cover plus the VR cover slip over cover helps a lot and blocks light but my eyes dry out a lot though still. Hoping the vr cover sports version with vents will help with that too sports

When I play fit xr I'll put my hair in a high(ish) ponytail and stuff the ponytail under the strap. I don't know why but it totally helps me take the pressure off of my face and it doesn't slide! : ) I was getting crazy headaches before I did that and now i can get a full workout in

I think the quest 3 is great, felt the same about what you said in the video. However I noticed questcraft crashes consistently snd doesn’t work, and beatsaber still can’t be modded yet without a pc and another installation of beatsaber via steam.

the headstrap is horrid XD it stays on better because I can use my hair to keep it more stablized, but the preasure it puts on my forehead... omg that sucks so bad. For some reason though, I have no issues with copmfort when playing beat saber, that preasure is kinda gone while being active. also seems like there is some tracking mixup with the handtracking activated, at least for me, like in VRchat it doesn't always seem to know exactly what to track.

Finally got around to watching this... Banana... Anyway... the idea of mix reality has had my attention for so long since google did the google glasses. Granted Quest 3 will be limited on travel to my living room but i am somewhat excited. Very much on the fence about buying. Battery life isn't a problem for me since i can either cable it or have breaks every hour. But if i did buy it, will have to buy the accessories that will come with. Comfort will be a major factor so i home 3rd party straps will help.

My biggest upset with the Q3 is the home an quest button on the controller, with longer thumbs have to really pull back to reach it, harder with the hand straps fitted, wish they had it on the opposite side

You can get a USB-C Thunderbolt link cable that charges the Quest 3 and transfers data so you can play as it charges.

No, the usb-c porn is on 1 side, and the headphone jack on the other...I was gonna frankensein mine by drilling holes for those on the elite strap, but they extended the length of the arms...so yeah, and bovovr m3 is extremely limited on stock apparently...

some have released retro fir kits like the bobovr m2 to m3......but the arms on the Quest 3 are totally different and thicker than the Quest 2 so without modifications no they dont!

Out of the box I had some PCVR issues... turns out my router was the cause. I think a firmware update reset some of my settings. I reconfigured and rebooted and it's been butter ever since.

The controllers tracks better than expected but the tracking and haptics in Beat Saber went banana on me multiple times. Synth Riders was fine though.

Great Vid and glad you looked at the negatives as well as the positives. There is no such thing as a perfect headset right now is there. I have a PSVR2 but have slight Quest envy for the Mixed reality and pancake lenses etc so will probably pick up a quest 3 512 or 256 (if they release one) and get a pro head strap, probably next year. I hope Sony adopt pancake lenses and MR which they dabbled with on PS3 and Vita. Remember eyepet? That would be great. Also PS home would be a big hit with PSVR users.

I doubt they will. They are still wondering why they sold less units than they would like to and have still lightyears away from comprehending that it is due to not making it run native on PC... So upgrade of the headset is out of the question.

I was dead set on getting Q3 day one, but i'm really annoyed that Meta didn't use local dimming to achieve deep inky blacks with it's LCD. And yet, it seems to nearly hit everything else out of the park and has so much going for it when you factor in the sticker price. PSVR2 on the other hand is a very conflicting head set, just because Sony stupidly chose to not use Pancake lenses(even if it meant using an LCD display+Local dimming), and a wireless to PS5 connection for 'stand-up' VR games would of been a god send. it's also awful aesthetically speaking, with it's big bulky front visor and those gnarly rings wrapping around the controllers(more bulk), and the fact that it's OLED display trades motion clarity for brightness. Weird stuff. It's going to turn most people off because it's wired, it's bulky, the controllers are cumbersome and it has an awful sweet spot. But it's got Resident Evil Village VR which is absolutely outstanding, with RE4: VR Mode on the way, potential Astro bot port or sequel, hopefully a port for PSVR1's shark dive/encounter from PSVR Worlds, and at least has deep inky OLED-like blacks and PS5 power to back it up. Q3 just can't compete in terms of raw power. If you don't plan on getting a beefy PC for VR, then the PSVR2 + PS5 make VR all the more appealing, and of course for exclusives. But i want the best of both worlds, it's just the LCD black levels of Q3 that are throwing me off.

I think you may have some wifi bandwidth issues. Do you have a wifi 6 setup? If you don't, you can buy a wifi 6 router/modem and a wifi 6 dongle for your desktop (a cable cat6 or cat7 connection would be even better).

Well Naysy, I couldn't agree more, how did Meta f this up? When I first ordered the Q3, I had pretty much intended to go show to everyone I could, thinking "this will be it!" This would be the headset to make everyone go "wow" and want one.... I haven't shown it to a single person. I just don't want them to hate it! The head strap just down right stinks and then we get to the facial interface. I think it actually accentuates how bad the strap is. It feels like sandpaper on my face after 15-20min. I've put the Q2 silicone cover on it and it makes aaaaalll the difference in the world... like almost makes the factory head strap better... almost. If fits kinda funny, but a lil snip here and a lil tuck there, it gets the job done... Come on VRCover!! Do your thing! Already got the BoboVR adaptor kit ordered. The lil adaptors I 3D printed do help the Bobo M2 work on Q3, but it's not perfect. Sorry for the book, haha. Awesome video as always! :-D

i have the quest 3 and a beat saber super speed player, tracking is quite bad for really fast stuff but acc is perfect. one more thing is playing in the dark, playing in the dark is unplayable and you get almost no tracking even moving slow.

def better with elite strap.. but waiting on better batteries cause the meta one is not worth the cost. Also Virtual Desktop is a must for PCVR.

I’ve been using Rift S for years as a PCVR gamer (mostly beat saber!) but purchased a Quest 3 recently in hopes that I could use it as a replacement. However, so far I’ve had various issues using it for PCVR gaming so far - so keen to hear if you manage to iron out those virtual desktop/airlink issues too. Absolutely agree the head-strap it comes with it awful. My Rift S is so comfortable in comparison. Looking forward to your updates!

As a Quest Pro and Quest 3 owner I (and many QPro owners) actually prefer the QPro for now. We will see how updates and 3rd party accessories improve the Q3.

This headset is so good for PCVR. I've upgraded from a HP Reverb G2. I have to admit though I bought a dedicated wifi 6e router and I have an RTX 4090 but the combination of this allows me to have really high fideltiy graphics with minimal compression artifacting. The display looks great compared to the G2. There is some SDE but it's not bad and because of this fine detail is a little compromised a touch but the trade off is the edge to edge clarity which makes a huge difference. I've no need to use the G2 ever again.

same boat except I don't got a quest 3 and my rift s is broken, it was well on its way as both the controller rings snapped in half and the headset kept going black and static while playing

on a side note a few weeks ago i found a quest 2 at a pawn shop jacksonville fl the wanted 120 for it but i was like theres no face pad or chord and got it for 70 bux i already had long usb c cable and ordered the face plate on amazon for 39 bux ....

I've had Quest 3 plus the elite battery strap since launch day, and I'm waiting for AMVR or similar to make a proper facial gasket before I really use it. I don't understand how stock Meta facial interfaces are so bad, who asked for this nose gap?? AMVR made a replacement gasket for the Pico4 that was night and day, took the entire experience from just "meh" to dream come true. Hoping they or VRcover can similarly rescue the Quest3 soon

I'm finding a lot of lag and tracking issues with the quest 3, to the point where I've sort of stopped playing because it's just not fun to miss notes you know you aren't missing (edit: beat saber)

I'm super glad I got the Quest 3!! as a new user I actually find the straps ok and wouldn't have had any complaints xD i only play 1-1.5 hrs a day tho for some exercise while playing games but I think a lot of casual players like me will enjoy it a lot too!! I am gonna get a bobo m3 pro once they're in stock so I'll have something to compare it to since people are hyping that up :O
