Completely agree with this. 3+ is more comfortable to hold (especially with the grips!) and the shoulder buttons on the Anbernic are just nowhere near as good. I inadvertently hit L1/R1 when I'm reaching for L2/R2 and I hate it. I've done it so many times in fast paced games that I'm considering getting rid of it, which makes me sad since I like everything else about it. The 3+ still reigns in the ergonomics arena.

@@ChronikSpartan I've been gaming since 1977 when I was 15. It's been a freaking amazing journey through EVERY platform generation, coin-op to console to handheld happiness. How fun is that lad? To be able to play most, if not all those archaic and historic systems on a bloody handheld would have absolutely blown my 15 year old mind (probably to the point that hospitalization would have been required). I'm glad retro channels exist to keep the gaming history alive for the next generation man.

Rg505m is the plastic shell, this kind of is the next iteration. Unless you mean another one

@@TheAwesomeness1123 Wait they made an RG505M? Is the design better than the original RG505? Because that thing was a janky mess. I didn't like the screen resolution or the fat bezels. Just the general layout looked ugly to me. Besides, the Vita screen it used was 16:9 and 5 inches. I'm hoping for a 3:2, 4.5inch screen.

Yeah, that's part of the reason I don't use my Shield TV which I bought for retro gaming. Android adds an extra layer of bullshit to getting stuff to work. But the Shield is even worse because AndroidTV filters the shit out of the play store so most apps aren't available. Very frustrating. Became not worth it for me to use. On the flip-side, performance is usually better on Android. Not entirely sure why, if it's just kernel or driver optimizations or what, but generally when there's a choice for an SBC or handheld or similar, there's higher FPS on those boarder-line emulated devices, it seems. That's one thing that is cool about a competitor to this, the RP3+. It auto-loads a game-oriented launcher and accesses the ROMs off your SD, so it's very easy to use despite being Android.

One SD is for the firmware, the other is purely for games. To add roms just copy them into the folders on the bigger sd card

Yeah, and when it comes to Android games it seems to be game specific as to whether they do or don't work. Absolutely if your gaming requirements don't include Game Pass then this is the best handheld in this price range!

Yeah as for retro gamers like me and tech enthusiastic, I found that rg405m will be a perfect handheld for native Android games emulation and streaming although I can stream some services like Steam Link and PlayStation Now it'll be great for these stuff can't wait until I got my hands on Anbernic rg405m and I'm dying to make videos about it.

From my understanding, Gamma OS fixes the should button issue along with doing some optimizations which brings NGC/PS2 performance up to the standard of the updated RP3+.

Yeah the OG PlayStation handhelds are still up their. Especially playing their native games, unbeatable. You're right though, there are far too many to consider these days. From a PSP emulation perspective I think there RG505 is my favourite option considering it's great screen.

Wait for afordable gbc and ps2 emulation devices. If not u can get the loki.

I cant play without propper ergonomics anymore. I used to have a gb advance sp and a psp and always had problems with cramps. Now I use an adaptor for my phone to get handles like a ps4 controller an no longer suffer pains.

@DaleonM4 this thing takes me to cramp city. I try to fight through it though. It still atleast has Bluetooth controller support

@steelzepplin2012 the opera browser is what I use to play gamepass on the 405. I will say I think my R2 and R1 buttons are losing sensation, from me chopping so many heads. That's something to be cautious about with this device!! ⚠️ ⚠️

No. The RP3+ has worse buttons, a worse screen format, and poorer build quality. I have the RP3+ and a number of other handhelds and it’s the one I use the least. If all you want is PSP/Vita, I can see the appeal, but for anything else… not for me.

@Cujobob dude the rp3+ has a Higher screen resolution, ya it may not have the aluminum feel of the ambernic but it runs faster and plays games more seamlessly. Unless I got a faulty anbernic 405m I don't see how you can honestly say it's better. It struggles to even play half the games my rp3+ plays perfectly.

@@NoG-Inc. You probably have to tweak some settings. The RP3+ got some nice improvements in a recent OTA patch, but it also had number of issues with performance. I'm likely sticking with Linux based handhelds only from this point on until Emulation Station comes to Android. These custom linux OS' get the settings tweaked really well and make it a much more enjoyable experience.

@Cujobob I totally agree! I mainly use the rp3+ for my small GameCube and streaming from my pc. I liked the anbernic 405m I have multiple of their other devices. But the rp3 is alot weaker then my modded psvita. But it also seems to beat my ayn Odin pro. Which is kinda of odd
