Should You Buy Ultraviolette F77?

The Ultraviolette F77 is a crazy good glimpse into our electric future. In the right circumstances, it really is stunning. But zoom out a little and under most normal riding conditions, the Ultraviolette ida of an electric motorcycle, that too a sportsbike, doesn't tick all of the boxes. Shumi's been riding the F77 for MotorInc View.

This is peak automotive content on KZfaq. Not only the reviews are well written and explained, but the quality of video, audio, graphics and colours are delightful. I want the Motorinc team to keep going forward with this and only evolve towards excellence. Take your time between releasing videos but never compromise on quality. Also, waiting for the website to go live :)

What a greatly insightful video. Shumi sir pulls no punches 😂. The funny bits were really funny. "there are apartments smaller than that in Mumbai haha". And I know motorinc wants the viewers do work hard too and look at the searchable stats ourselves, I really appreciate the price graphic popping up when shumi sir talked about it being an eyewatering one. Would really love it if similar graphics do pop up when the presenters are talking about any stats. We love your videos and I don't think I'd wanna switch to another tab when it's playing just to see some stats.

The reason we think you should pursue stats that interest you is that there’s a chance you’ll learn more from the pursuit than a pop up 😊

If Ultraviolette can sort out the tiny niggles mentioned in the review, then I think this is a very promising proposition for the future! If the TVS iCube, the Ola S1 & the Ather are on one side of the spectrum of electric two wheelers, this sits on the other side of the spectrum in terms what we can expect from the future of electric mobility. You guys keep rising the bar higher & higher with every video & it's clearly visible in this video. Love you guys from Bengaluru!❤

No doubt the F77 is impressive but the concept of electric performance motorcycles (or vehicles in general) doesn't make sense to me. Electrics are good only for city commuting. However this is purely my opinion.

I dont mind it for cars as a lot of them have great range nowadays and a lot of charging stations along the way but as for bikes I am 100 percent with you. I live in Kathmandu and here the speed limit is 50 lol, I dont even remember the last time I went past 70 kmph. Electric make perfect sense as their regenerative brakes would be frequently used in the city. And commutes are never more than 15-20 km. I honestly wouldnt mind if kathmandu considers going full electric. Kathmandu's air is so polluted now. I remember as a kid I could see the entire mountain range when there were no clouds. Nowadays you cant even see the hills surrounding the valley clearly if it hasnt rained for the smoke to settle. Nepal also generates its electricity completely through hydropower so the energy we use is very clean too.

I believe the opposite actually. Electric motors are just objectively better than IC engines. They are efficient over a long rpm range which means you can skip bulky gearboxes all together, they are much simpler designs which means less things can go wrong, it's easy to produce more torque with electric motors and also they are lighter than ic engine + gearing combo. The problem however is powering the system, batteries are the weak link today (they are improving rapidly though), hybrid is a good option (lot of success has been achieved here)

A F77 owner here, after using it for 5 months, I can concur that the only major downside is proprietary charging solution. It's like chaining a tiger. Hefty 7KG charger, thick cables that down like to bend much, means you can barely carry it in backpack with feel of pillion lying on your back. And then you stop for charging it up, it takes 4-5 hours to topup to full. Companies playing Apple early in their life with these kind of design descisions is such a turn off. Imagine this having CCS charging system, and you travel without a charger and charge the bike at any of Tatas, Jios or Shells stations for 45-60 mins to 20-80%. Also bike has enough space to hold onboard slow 1KW charger, imagine just carrying a power cable for emergencies.

Late Breakfast on a Sunday morning with Prof Shumi's class in session. Very few things better than that. 😁 I never took the F77 seriously given I've the RC390 in the garage. But I was always curious to the idea/roadmap that Ultraviolettte have in mind for maybe a slightly more practical product given how they've marketed the F77. And this conversation hits the nail head on. Kudos Sirs and Madams at MotorInc 😊

I do agree to some extent.... But... A vast number of people also eat exclusivity of owning a bike which is obviously not so common and thus has bragging rights. There are many people out there who just go for short weekend rides and their daily office commute but want to do that in style feeling special. I think this is perfect for those guys. Now that the Mach 2 is out and is almost a lakh cheaper 2.99 and 3.99 respectively, it brings it a lot closer to its ICE rivals. You guys definitely need to do a review of that or a Good podcast! 😄😄😄

This was fun. I really do agree EV Bikes are the future but it is indeed a distant future. We as Bike Riders do want something that can take us places. I personally believe this, is one segment which should stay away from EV-fication for atleast 10 years. Riding a bike has to be a therapy and replacing the Engine with Motor is like replacing your Physio with a Massage gun, can do the job but is not the best and ideal. Till then i will stick to Twin Cylinders and 4-Cylinders Screamers(Yamaha and Honda). As usual, Shumi and Team- Nothing but Net. ❣

Thanks Rajat! We don’t think it’s going to take ten years to get there though

Great video Team Motorinc! I was just wondering about the cost of running compared to a gas powered bike with the same performance level.

They'll be much lower as long as electricity rates stay low. Commercial fast charging rates are already higher than the norm and will rise further. But for a long time to come, EVs will be cheaper than ICEs... if for nothing else then because the taxes on petrol will probably keep rising

I'm a huge fan of TVS and looking at the innovation and level they are at today, UV can be promising in the EV segment. Hope to see a bit more practical and realistic approach.

What is the best rear suspension upgrade you recommend for the duke 390 2020 model, I ride with pillion most of the time, and the stock one doesn't feel confident on the bumps? specially if go for ride with pillion and luggage.

My question is, how much range do you want as a full time biker? Like 500km real range? How much can you travel in a day? And what's the minimum fast charging you want? Like say, will 50km in 15 mins be good enough? A 1 hour break (say lunch break) gives you 200km then Some questions might sound childish bcoz I'm not a professional biker
