I been playing MC since about 1.6 and love it, but VS just has so much more to offer and it will only get better from here...and at the rate the MC devs push out their "updates" they will never reach the potential of VS. Its a hard pill to swallow for some but its the truth. VS is what you get when the devs actually care about the game and the player base.

I love minecraft and vintage story, vintage story feels like a real survival game blended with sandbox and is so much more in-depth, minecraft is simple, nostalgic and relaxing. I love that vintage story has lore too. I'd say I prefer vintage story a bit more as an adult, minecraft is far too easy for me. I can't really enjoy minecraft without mods now.

When i first saw Vintage Story i thought it was just a minecraft mod with a fancy texture pack (or resource pack as they are called now. yes im old..). A friend got the game for me after i looked more into it and i'v been loving it way more than Minecraft. I played loads of Minecraft back in ye olden days (i think i started on 1.2.1 in 2012), but i have since burned out on the game for life. Not even mods can get me back into the game anymore. What i like about Vintage Story is there is a clear focus on what the devs want the game to be wich is not the case with Minecraft anymore. On top of deeper progression wich i love, also having intigrated mod support is a huge boon. I think the only thing Vintage Story could use is more technical stuff, like multiblock moving things (wich i think they are working on) and expanding the existing mechanical stuff to have more things to power and more "soft" automation like the "Create" mod for Minecraft! Also perhaps some sort of gem polishing to craft "rings of power" or socket them into armor as a way to "enchant" things. Overall i do love the game though, still things to learn for an old dog like me thats seen everything Minecraft has to offer. Can 100% recommend picking it up

I love vintage story for what it is the same way I love minecraft. The differences for what I love is broken down from the fact that I feel that I am progressing in Vintage Story whereas in minecraft, sure the first feel minutes are progression, but once you get iron gear, not even diamond, you already feel like a god and can do basically anything. So What I am saying is, I love Vintage story for the progression and the feeling that the world is bigger than you and there is always something to find (The Lore for exemple), and I love Minecraft for it's freedom, I can do whatever I want and it does give me more creativity than vintage story, mostly because you have a small pool of items to choose so I need to be strategic on how I use does blocks (Yes Vintage Story has chisel, but I am bad at it, and would always prefer to use more simple blocks, so my builds aren't that detailed) EDIT: I do love the Vintage Story community more than minecraft's, mainly because of toxicity. And I know that this might change when Vintage Story gets bigger, more weird people to break a community. But still, in this early stages, I like Vintage Story Community more

Alright, so. I'm both a player of Minecraft, modded Minecraft, Vintage Story, and modded Vintage Story. Here's my thoughts on Minecraft and Vintage Story. Vintage Story is a game that, from the ground up, is designed to be very mod-friendly. It's got a fantastic 'base' survival 'mod' (the game itself), and can be endlessly customized to one's own liking. I can't even begin to put it into words just how /free/ Vintage Story is (apart from the very modest, and reasonable, price tag), or how much effort you need to get to the iron and steel ages respectively (and the sheer pride you have in yourself when you do). Minecraft is a game that wasn't designed from the ground up to be mod-friendly, however that has not stopped the community. Thanks to them, and later the developers (from Notch to Mojang, to Microsoft), the game has grown to be similarly customizable, though with a bit more difficulty. Forge or Fabric are required to mod the game (with ease), and are mutually exclusive, though mods can be made with Quilt to run on either of them (from my understanding). While progression is much more simple than Vintage Story, you can still feel pride when you finally get enough diamonds or netherite (or whatever endgame material is added by a mod/modpack) for a full set of armor and tools, and enough experience to enchant them too! And taking out the Ender Dragon (in vanilla, or a final boss from a mod or modpack). They are two entirely separate games, and it's not fair to compare them when they do so many things differently in a way that works for that game. They are both excellent, and they both leave an impression.

Minecraft? what's that.. rearview mirrored that game long ago. Been playing VS since almost the first year. I likely got the game way cheaper.. I remember around $10 when it was in early early beta. But i dropped that extra $15 on them when that was on option. (and back when i had some money) It also gives you a Yellow (or Gold) name in game. I am always hosting servers of the game for my friends and 3 youtubers. just total love this game.

Minecraft has had SO long to get even the bare minimum of what Vintage Story has accomplished in early access. They've had so much time to add even the little things, much less things like panning for minerals that would be absolutely trivial to add, but they haven't. And when you add mods into the mix, which MC needs just to stand on an even footing with VS, I don't think it's even a contest at this point. I'm enjoying From Golden Combs, which adds realistic beekeeping, a few mods that let you tame wildlife and utilize them, and Joy of Sailing adds usable sailboats with a few additional mods adding rivers with current and wind direction, all things Minecraft will probably never add - so yeah, i've picked a side, even after a LONG time being an avid minecraft player who is starting to feel like Mojang is just coasting. Some of the new updates have been nice, but they're too afraid to add much to the game and it really shows when you compare what Vintage Story has right out of the box to Minecraft after so long in 'development'.

Bought this and love it even how it is right now at early acces. Lots of stuff to do in order to progress. First winter hits hard but learning to cook good meals is large part of the game and without this knowledge you get stuck to endless hunting (Food is first priority here!). Cant wait for what this has to offer in future. Much more fun than triple A games out there.

Not to mention. Mod integration is built in game. quick install mods. Plus if you own a server. you dont need to fumble with the file. just install it through commands.!.

I would definitely buy it, but unfortunately it's very expensive.

Я считаю, что бесполезно сравнивать две эти "разные ванильные" игры. Типа майн тоже по своему хорош, хоть я и сторонник винтажки, но иногда захожу в майн расслабиться(сори). Вот в винтажке мне действительно не хватает гибкости в автоматизации и механизмов(не считая моды). А так все круто, ждем обнов и твоих видосов))

Can't tell me it isn't heavily inspired by TFC though. A lot of the mechanics are quite literally the same. I see some other mod influences as well (like Better than Wolves or Thaumcraft) but this absolutely looks like "TFC the game". Definitely looks like something for me after MC lost me with its chibbi kiddy stuff and since all the good mods are dead for a long time now too.

I love vintage story due to the pacing is much more relaxed and actually doesn't try to be minecraft.

Had to ask and comment, even though the video is a few months old. Didn't VS begin life as a Minecraft mod before being made as a stand alone game? The video speaks to the awesome building options available due to the chisel mechanic.......Minecraft has had a mod called Chisels & bits for a long time, people have made awesome buildings, cities, using Minecraft for almost a decade..... the video maker appears to have never heard of it?

Minecraft steals ideas from mods as well. It's not a great thing. They also tend ot take the mod's original idea, then shit all over it(which is how we got ender chests).

This video is so unwatachle. I dont mean this as non-constructive feedback. I am this videos target demographic (it seems?), I know very little about the game and am sonewhat interested, just don't know if I'm 100% down to purchase it. You by under 3:00 in this video (check retention and I bet there's a trend) havw me entirely turned off from the game and community. You're sitting here with a strange mix of sarcasm and elitism, but it's genuinely difficult to determine what points you're even trying to make. The constant "memes" or "jokes" are also just falling completely flat for me. I wish you would have started with more information then thrown that stuff in because I'm not watching the rest of this, but do feel compelled enough to write this comment since this is the first time in a long time I've been so turned off by a video. You made wanting to purchase this game worse for me, I am genuinely less interested now because you do not seem like someone I want to be anywhere near. Sorry.

It's meh and that's being overly generous. It has some fun mechanics like being able to make WORKING windmills and mechanical systems and the ability to chisel and modify blocks allows for some interesting build ideas but outside of that it's just Minecraft mechanics with extra steps. The starting class options are totally and utterly pointless outside of Multiplayer because in single player the perks from them don't makeup for the severe drawbacks, they're simply not worth it. The attention to detail when it comes to crafting are interesting especially with the realism of blacksmithing/forging but over time it just becomes overly tedious once the novelty wears off. Maybe years from now when it's more close to a finish product it might be worth the price but in it's current state I can't honestly recommend it.

Easy answer, no. I just did and regret it. Terrible tutorial, I couldn’t even figure out how to craft. Mind you I play MC, Soulmask, Space engineers, just to name a few. And yes it is a MC ripoff.

I dont want another minecraft clone when i dont even play minecraft. Developers should stay away from procedurally generated blocky games if they dont want to be compared to Minecraft. This is just an obvious MC clone with the exact same map style 1:1. Get more creative.
