It sounds like you are buying your bags thinking about investments rather than personal enjoyment.

Please don’t narrow your collection to only Birkin and Kelly… it would be SO BORING.

So you want a shelf full of bags that you will never touch? You yourself have said that you rarely use your Birkins and Kellys because you are anxious about safety, that people will judge you and they are cumbersome to get in and out of. So why are you considering this? Because of pressure and influence from social media? Bags are meant to be used. Not sat on shelves as expensive decorations.

Instead of focusing on brand I pay attention to diversifying the size/shapes of bags then I focus on color/material

I remember you said earlier that you dont wear your birkins and kellys as often because they are too flashy. The outifts you wore in japan with your jypsiere and mosaic were so pretty. Aswell your pink epsom bolide is such a dream. Consider your decision carefully.

It’s hard to justify/suggest to you to buy only Birkin and Kelly bags when we’ve seen that you rarely use the ones that you have. And I say that with lots of love. I think your collection is at a point where bringing in items requires discerning whether you merely like a bag versus completely loving a bag. That said, sometimes there are things we just need to experience for ourselves to finally get over them. If B25/K25 is a true itch that needs to be scratched, to be experienced so that you can finally make your judgement on them and move on, then maybe putting up the blinders to any other bag is more worthwhile right now. Focus on the right Birkin/Kelly 25 and cut through distraction.

Maybe you should try to use only your birkin & kelly only for sometimes to experience what is the feeling to have only those bags before you sell other bags as a trial

I don’t know Jess. Your collection right now rocks. Your beautiful Bolides, your Mosaïque, your Birkin.. Apart from two or three that you notice you just never use, I’d treasure the pieces and work toward your holy grails.

I would call myself “eclectic” when it comes to fashion and luxury. I have some refined pieces, some edgy, some cute…. I guess I just buy what I like. I don’t ever buy with the intent to sell, but I do like to preserve my stuff for as long as possible.

Definitely get your dream birkin 25, that bug will not go away. I'm torn because I want to use all of my bags but I also love having a variety of different designers in my collection. I think each fashion house makes at least one special signature bag. There are times when I want non recognizable quiet luxury- and there is nothing quiet about birkens or kellys. You might come across as a bit pretentious if you have multiples and it's the only bags you wear.

I love the different colors, sizes, leathers, and styles in your current collection! It’s really a dream collection! It seems like most people that have Birkins and Kellys in their collections use them less than other bags. Also, I wanted to ask you... do you really think a B25 will suit your lifestyle? I noticed you don't wear your B30 and you have said in the past that you felt like it was very showy, too easily identifiable, made you scared you would get robbed even. The B30 can go on the crook of your arm... the B25 is mostly handheld. Handheld bag is EASY to snatch vs one that is close to your body in the crook of your arm. Why do you want a B25 so bad? I would recommend going for a K25 that you can wear on the crook of your arm or even with a crossbody strap. I'm just trying to understand what your logic is w/B25 so maybe I can help you avoid another mistake. I have 4 B25s and they are sooo cute but not as easy to wear as the B30s and my K28s are better than both!!! I don't take public transportation and work in a very secure environment so I can wear all my bags but B25 is the hardest to manage.

It sounds like you just really want a Kelly and Birkin 25. Just sell a few of your bags that you don’t use often. That way other people can appreciate it and give it another life to spark more joy.

I think you are thinking about this too much. I say this because I have noticed myself doing this as well, and I had to force myself to take breaks from window shopping (which for me, includes researching different products to determine what is "best" to buy). I love luxury bags but when I'm in my head too much and over analyzing every decision related to my bags instead of just enjoying them, it sucks all of the enjoyment out of these beautiful bags. If a birkin or kelly is the ultimate dream bag for you, go for it. But just because they are the pinnacle dream bags for some doesn't mean they are for everyone. So listen to what you like and what is best for you. For me, right now, I don't want a birkin or kelly. They are not my style right now. I love the LV Speedy and prefer canvas over leather (I know that's heretical in the luxury community but oh well lol). You have your whole life to collect luxury bags. Enjoy the ones you have and take care of them. Be intentional about buying new ones (we can still over consume even when buying secondhand).

It’s good that you’re trying to change the way you think about bags because I do agree many bags have “investment” power as someone who’s resold both as a side career and a full time as I’ve acquired bags for steals only to see the prices skyrocket (made a good bag many times no pun intended) but also as you said I think this precocious idea of “investment buying” does not mix with personal use as well unless you just don’t want to enjoy your bags. For me I feel like I was able to better compartmentalize what I buy as stock to sell and what I buy to use for me and how I treated these items. I mean I take care of my stuff because I value it in general but obviously I’m not gonna like put a bag for stocking in a store through wear as much because as you said it can denigrate it’s value but a bag I own and don’t really plan on selling (and if I do don’t plan on trying to make a profit) I can treat it however (although I don’t throw around my bags unless they can take it I guess I treat different bags differently) but I think maybe that’s just me because when you have sold as a “career” you’re able to separate stuff you use to stuff you intend to sell for as much as possible but I can see if these two realities are more intertwined how it would be hard. Ultimately I think enjoying bags the most you can is just the best course of action because I feel like our time on the planet is only so long (not to be existential but it’s reality lol) and we have so much time but to enjoy the things we have because the possessions of the world will not matter when we leave this planet and ascend to a different plane of consciousness post our life on this planet. Ok woah sorry probably too philosophical about bags but I think I feel that way about possessions in general. Now that’s not to say drag your Birkin on the road but like enjoying what you own is freeing in ways and gives the items purpose but I do get what you mean especially if you’re unsure of what you want to keep long term. Idk it’s always a hard mental thing. But also I love how you appreciate the non Birk and Kelly bags from Hermes and I think diversification is best for a collection but maybe that’s just my opinion as I collect many different styles and brands of bags and I’m not really dedicated to one brand even though I have favorites I tend to. I predict with the variety you have now you’d miss it if you were to only have 2 styles of bags but also you may feel differently about that. I have bags from a few brands, and I don't like to focus on one luxury fashion house, I like the diversity. I do think you should buy your dream bags first and than see what other bags you want in your collection, I'm trying to be very picky when it comes to adding a new bag to my collection (well, small space and low income also really help with that lol) because I want to make sure I really love the bag and not because I was influenced to buy iy. I hate selling and I sold 3 bags and luckily I was able to make a profit but that was a year ago, now I won't sell because the pre-loved market is at a bad point. I buy to keep my bags, not sell them for a new bag, I think it's a lot of energy to spend, which I don't have so I pick and choose the bags I genuinely love and want and fit my lifestyle

I think you have a beautiful collection as is. That said working toward a b and k 25 is very logical if those are the bags you really want. I think having a variety of bags makes a collection interesting if you like using different bag styles. I have a pretty diverse collection myself. Different materials, colors and styles for my different moods and occasions, and I love that. But as you dont like to use the b and k’s that you already have, having only those in your collection seems like you wont have any bags to carry. For me, I buy my bags to use them. No matter what they are. I always am careful with them but I use them all. And that’s part of the joy of having them. I don’t buy to sell. Although I do sell those I no longer use or like. Usually at a loss, but that’s the cost of using something. It’s not reasonable to think that we get to use something for free. Interested to see what you end up doing, but I say do it only if it Brings you enjoyment, not stress.

So glad you're feeling better. Yes Birkins and Kellys are the best. And while you are young, it is a good idea to get most of your collection when the prices are as low as they will ever be. Even though you don't use yours so much, I wouldn't sell any of them, but I wouldn't sell the Hermes bags you use the most either. There's a practice with clothes that what you wear you hang back in the closet with the hanger backwards. Maybe you could turn the bags towards the back and as the ones you use, face forward. Is that a good idea?

Love your collection! Especially the bolide, lindy and mosaique. Birkin and Kelly may have a great resale value however, as you had said previously, if you are not feeling safe to carry regularly…might be better just to wait and save for a 25 size next yr.

I think I get bored after wearing them a few times. i’m ok with losing a certain amount on buying and selling bags, because it’s sort of like a hobby, but you’re right - it takes a lot of time and energy. idk if i’ll ever have purse peace. is it actually possible? and what about in the future? if your style changes and you might wish you had a bag back again?! arghh!

That’s interesting, I feel the opposite! I limit my bag purchases to ones I will actually use regularly, which comes out to around 5 bags. Because I am limiting myself to such a small number of bags, I like to have a variety of different brands! It sounds like you are trying to limit yourself to something (brand, type of bag) because you don’t want to go crazy with buying. What do you think about limiting to only bags you will love and use?

Jess, Glad you are feeling better. As for handbags, I have never sold a bag for a profit. In fact, I usually lose at least ½ of what I paid. My LV was ¼ of what I paid, and the stickers were still on the sides. Sigh.

thanks to you I found different styles of hermes bags and I begin to appreciate hermes more. But birkins and kellys for me are not their best bags, they are boring and not so practical. Also people who don't know as much about bags as you tends to also collect birkins and kellys just because of FOMO, so I feel like your collection show off your real knowledge and passion about bags.

In my experience, a black B25 is easy to get from a boutique compared to other neutrals. If you’re regularly shopping at H, maybe wait for the offer? I’m all in for H only bc I already own bags from the other brands. Personally, I’m not for just owning from one brand but your money, your call.

I definitely don’t think you should get rid of your variety in Hermes bags. Focus on getting one of your top two and just do video reviews of your existing bags.

a Bolide is so practical and you can wear it anywhere never thinking much about safety issues! i myself feel like there are more thief-eyes on me when i wear a Birkin, so a Bolide always gives me more peace in that sense, so don‘t get rid of the Bolides!!

I can see why you’re so focused on that forever Hermes bag b/c prices keep going up and up. If at 33, you feel your wardrobe might start skewing towards more neutral colours… buying that forever bag would make a lot of sense in the long run. That being said, you have such a bubbly/fun personality + sense of style, and your current collection really reflects that… so many interesting styles/colours, and I enjoy hearing you talking about the history of Hermes bags that aren’t a Kelly/Birkin. I’m an Hermes only person too b/c the classic shapes, cost per wear, and repair aspect really appeal to me. Others might think that’s boring, and that’s totally fine! I’m enjoying living my own life, and they are enjoying living theirs. Buy whatever makes you happy, Jess… glad you are feeling a lot better too!

Sell the b30 and buy the b25. Then work on the k25. Thinking about not buying what you really want is also mentally exhausting. You have the funds there to do it just have to temporarily go through the hassle of selling but it will be worth it.

When I was your age, I couldn't afford to spread my money out so I focused on Hermes only with the goal of a Birkin. Once I started down that road, I never looked to other brands until I had a solid relationship at H and was getting the bags I wanted. I only really wanted Birkin, Kelly sellier, and Constance. I veered off to Chanel for a while but they're ridiculous prices now so I'm back to only Hermes. I think it takes time Jess. You might want to sell a few more bags and really focus on finding that B25. Prices on the resale market are coming down but B25 and K25 are still very expensive but you want to be ready in case something pops up that is a great find! xoxox

I don’t like wearing a different bag, I always feel cheated when I wear one of my other bags. I enjoy my Loro Piana Small Bale bag very much, but even the I miss my Evelynes. 😅

my H collection is very similar to yours. bolides, herbags, roulis, toolbox etc….My dream H bag was always the Kelly 25. I first bought a Kelly 28 in my dream color combination; gold on gold. Gorgeous! Then I managed to find a k25 for an amazing price. Sold a bunch of Chanel bags to fund it🤦🏻‍♀️ recently found another k25 in rare Vert Fonce, gold hdw in Togo leather! In brand new condition!! I about lost my mind. At this point I’ve realized as gorgeous as my k28 is, it’s not as practical as the k25, (I’m all about crossbody moment, that’s my lifestyle) so I knew I had to have it. Only problem was the price, holy shisnit! The most expensive bag I’ve ever purchased. Moved some money round and bought it before someone else did. Do I regret it? Hell NO! but I haven’t purchased another bag since then, that was 6 months ago. Now I feel like I want more Kelly’s…I understand your dilemma 😂

This is very personal but if I had your collection I’d prefer to sell all the non Birkins and Kellys and use the money to buy Birkins and Kellys in 25/28 and mini.

I find it a bit pretentious of people who love Hermes to say that "every" bag collector aspires to buy a Kelly or Birkin. I've been collecting bags or over 20 years and have NEVER wanted a B or K. They aren't my style. I find them boxy, difficult to get in and out of, not for every day use, and are not good for evenings out or events. I purchase bags based on needs: totes or hobos for travel and work, handhelds for days out and nice lunches, clutches for dinners/events, crossbody for errands. I may have more than one of these styles based on color or material, but a collection of identical bags that will sit on a shelf without being used seems like a waste of money.

Why not sell some of the bags you have multiples of that are not Birkins and Kelly’s. That way you will also have money to buy a Birkin 25 and a Kelly 25.

To each their own.. but with that said I am so bored with Hermes bags videos in general. I purchase my bags for enjoyment and use of them not for resale value. I honestly don’t see the hype with Hermes. I personally find them a bit boring and blah 🤷‍♀️. I much prefer a variety of choices in my collection depending on my mood ☺️

I think diversity is OK, as long as you buy each piece at a good price (so resell won't be a painful loss). You could focus more on Bolide..you already have a range of them but there are special edition Bolide to collect also 😊

Ooh I think you are you with your different colourful bags and charms and you are using them. Eventually sell the ones you dont use or prefer. B and K are overhyped now and more for just looking at their beauty, using them not so convenient.

Doesn't make sense to focus in on only two bags types from same brand regardless of whether it's Hermes or not if your main goal is to use the bags. If you want to resell then you should try to buy the bags at best price possible to make money. Not so easy to do and it's a different strategy. Your vlogs should also be more focused on reselling if that's the case. As a handbag collector I love the diversity of bags from different brands as no one brand has a monopoly on style, design, function etc.

If you would never sell a birkin or a Kelly for a non-quota bag, then it may make sense for you to “top out” so to speak, just to see if that gives you purse peace because seems you have tackled enough sellers regret that you can handle that more than the craving for a new bag. Hence it may sting less to sell the bolide than to yearn after a B25. Also, because I wanna buy your Bolide 25 😂
