For people considering a double major, I would look into getting a master’s. Some schools allow you to get a master’s degree at the same time as your bachelor’s which seems like a better option imo. I was able to graduate with a masters in biomedical sciences and a bachelors in neuroscience all in 4 years (and still had time for electives). Did have to take summer classes though but didn’t need 15 hours every semester

My major - Classical Studies, a single major - was like this. Just so many requirements that my electives were super limited. Mostly because I was required to take four semesters of ancient Greek and six of Latin, and there were extensive requirements for upper level courses, so I ended up taking even more language classes than I necessarily "had" to. Plus culture, religion, history, art history, philosophy, architecture, archaeology... all for two different cultures. I can remember taking four electives total - Into to Anthropology, and Drawing I-III. The drawing classes ended up becoming part of my major because I used my drawing skills during my study abroad in archaeology and in my capstone project. And I knew another Classics major who was double-majoring in Biology, another notoriously difficult major!

I'm in high school, and I kinda want to be in school my whole life, just learn. Keep learning. I do classical schooling, just started it last year for the first time ever and finished 9th grade with it, I didn't know that was a major! Gotta look into it.@@rexcelent8560

If this is how you feel, you might want to consider whether you're in the right program. A LOT of people end up at a school that's not a good academic fit - for example, the academic program is too hard or too easy, or you're in a major that you don't enjoy. Upwards of 55% of people "undermatch" due to financial worries or simply not having the high school resources to find a school that's right for them. Additionally, if the school's culture or location weren't a good fit for you, that has a huge impact as well. If you feel like you don't fit in culturally, that's a lot of added stress that's going to affect your ability to keep up academically. And finances are a big part, too; if you're struggling financially, once again, that's going to be stress that affects your ability to succeed. Talk to the financial aid department and see if there's any wiggle room in your financial aid package. Even if the trouble is something other than tuition or room and board, they'll be able to help. Being in the "wrong" major is also a big deal; a lot of people go into a major because they think it will be useful, but it does no good to have a "useful" major if you're not going to complete your degree. Most graduates don't actually go into a career that actually lines up with their major (I certainly didn't), so your major doesn't matter as much as you might think. Most jobs just want to see that you had the discipline to get a degree. So if you really want to go into art or history or whatever, just do it! Better that than dropping out partway and having loan debt without the benefits of a degree. Also, please look into support services. Any given school should have a Student Success department or something similar where you can talk to someone about exactly what difficulties you're having and they can give suggestions on what to do. You may have an undiagnosed learning disability; you may be clashing with your professors' personalities; you may be in the wrong major; etc, etc. They really can help you figure this out so that you can succeed. Also, counseling. Most schools offer free therapy to students. Do NOT hesitate to take advantage of this. It does not mean you're weak or sick or whatever, it is just an acknowledgement that you're having a hard time and could use some advice from a professional advice-giver. Finally, if college just isn't right for you, that's totally fine! Just REALLY consider whether you can handle the debt you may have already taken on without the income benefits of a degree. But, if your mental health is going to deteriorate through the next two to four years, it's simply not worth it. You just need to plan carefully. Sorry for the long comment... I work for a college access/success nonprofit, so I know a lot about this. I really hope you're able to figure this out and succeed, no matter what success means for you. 🙂

This is all great advice! We want to help students avoid leaving college with student loans and no degree, so we urge students to explore all the resources their college has before dropping out. And remember that transferring is an option! Learn more about transferring colleges here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y7iBl86IksvRXZs.htmlfeature=shared

I graduated with a bachelor in computer science but now I really want to study laboratory sciences. What do you think?

I am thinking of double majoring. Cause every degree I wan't to pursue is pretty worthless and will not help pay back student loans or live a life of financial stability. Musical theatre (big one I REALLY want), anthropology, psychology, and others. A business degree would probably be best. But I would love to double major and get business and musical theatre degrees. But we'll see what happens and how I'll feel as I progress in high school.
