The calm, serene outdoor space behind the Japanese Pavilion was one of secret special Epcot places decades ago! We loved the dining room there also. A second secret space was behind the English Tea store across from Rose & Crown! Happy memories.

Fun fact: The name Shiki-sai(四季祭) literally means “Four seasons festival” in Japanese. Shiki= Four seasons, and Sai= festival. This is an original term made from the word “Shikisai(色彩)”, which means colors.

Our family loves sushi and can’t wait to try this out! It would be extremely helpful to our family, and others as well most likely, if you could include information about the restaurant’s ability to support people with allergy concerns like gluten, nut, etc. when providing reviews.

Forgive me if you already know this, but Disney is famously outstanding at accommodating food allergies and plant-based diets. You can include it in your reservation and the server confirms it when you sit down. Sometimes the chef will even come out and speak with you.

@@CaraPicone oh absolutely! That’s one of the primary reason we vacation with Disney so much. It’s one of the few places we can go and enjoy ourselves with worrying about planning out every single meal. The ability to book reservations or go to quick service and know our family can eat safely is a huge stress relief! I left this comment because while this new establishment is in EPCOT, like many of the other restaurants in that park it is not own or operated by Disney. This means sometimes they can’t accommodate all allergies, may not have the same safety protocols, and may have very limited offerings of safe items. Obviously we will contact respective guest services and do our proper research when deciding where to eat to ensure an enjoyable experience. I was simply offering a recommendation to the channel. And it would be especially helpful in this case as much of the information concerning this new restaurant’s ability to accommodate allergies is not available online yet and individuals with these concerns may already be trying to decide between a reservation here or somewhere else for their vacation.

Yeah, there should be WAY more color and way more varieties of sushi on that boat to justify 300, especially if only “some” of it has been flown in. That said, everything else looks delightful, and equal prices as bougie Japanese places in the city, so guess we’ll only be going here for very very special occasions! Ty for the video!

My Dad took me to Disney/Epcot as a kid and we ate at the Japanese restaurant the first night. I had tempura shrimp for the first time and asked my Dad if we could go the Japanese restaurant every night for the rest of the trip. And that’s just what we did. Love my Dad. ❤

Love the shout out to Quincy & Co at Allears! Gotta say though that $300 for the amount of sushi that’s provided on that boat didn’t strike me as that outrageous. It would be too much food for me but you can rack up $50-75 ordering by the piece at a sushi bar, and that boat can feed 5-6 ppl. Love that they have a sushi bar here btw if you’re alone or a couple.

I wish you’d included more information about the sushi that you had, especially those specialty fish that were flown in from Japan (as I’m sure that contributed to the high price point). It didn’t seem like a fair review just to say “it’s sushi, it was buttery and had great flavor”. Similar to how there are prime cuts of steak, fish has its own set of specialty from seasonality, freshness, flavor, that can differ from one catch to the next. In future videos I hope you’ll consider giving a deeper dive of a review

I am so excited to try this restaurant for my next Disney trip! Does the menu have a smaller version of the sushi boat (like a sashimi sampler) for 1-2 people to eat? Also, will Shiki-Sai offer dining packages for Epcot's concert series? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thank you for the review dfb team! I enjoyed watching. This will be total skip for my family. Have a few good sushi restaurants in Austin where you can get an amazing meal for 3 or 4 for 180$ including generous tip. Just too much money and kinda generic, unless you are from a town or neighborhood that does not have a place like this

Wagyu beef, not waygu. It’s fatty, expensive, but not necessarily Kobe beef. All Kobe beef is wagyu but not all wagyu is Kobe beef.

I actually don’t think the boat is a horrible price if 4 people are going in on it together (it’s described as feeding 4-6). That said, it doesn’t seem like enough, and many of the sushi types only come with 2 pieces. You can’t cut sushi in half…

The sushi on that boat is amazing. It’s definitely top notch. You’re not getting supermarket pre-frozen fish that has been colored.

Important thing is that there are lots of other less expensive options on the menu and the sushi boat is not a requirement to dine there.

Some of the sushi I hear is imported from Japan so I imagine some of the cost is for import fees. Plus it's Disney, everything is going to be much more expensive in the park than outside of them

This looks Ok, but it's not very authentic. The Okonomiyaki, karaage and noodle dishes look Ok. But gyoza is almost never made with beef--almost always with pork. And ishiyaki rice (bi bim bap) is a Korean specialty. Real sukiyaki is more like a sweet soy sauce with beef and vegitables. The sushi looks Americanized as well. Avacado rolls are a California thing, that you won't get in Japan. Even the Tanabata thing is odd--it's considered bad luck to keep these around after July 7. That's not to say that you can't have a nice, although very expensive, meal here. But for a restaurant with a Japanese "cultural ambassador", they don't seem too concerned wih offering a real Japanese experience.

That's my gripe. It's a Japanese version of the Olive Garden. Showed my Japanese SIL this, and it was a huge WTF from her.

As a Korean, I am happy that someone knows ishiyaki rice is actually from Korean dish [dol-sot bi-bim-bap =hot stone pot bi-bim-bap]. I really wanted to point that out..👍🏼

The Basics of Pronouncing Wagyu Beef 'Wa' means Japanese, and 'gyu' means cow. So, how do you pronounce Wagyu? Wagyu is pronounced, “wah-gyoo.” The “wah” sounds like the “wa” as in washer. The two syllables should be evenly spaced, and the emphasis should be on the second syllable (“gyoo”). Don't forget to pronounce the y in gyu. It's gyu not goo

Having eaten in true Izakayas in Osaka, Tokyo, and Okinawa, this is such a bitter disappointment. I need a guy in a yellowed tank top with a cig behind his ear frying up my gyoza and serving up Ramen with mystery broth and fatty chashu. Whoever thought this mess up needs to be fired. YUCK.
