I also recently read an article where it stated the U.S had too many tournaments from the highest to the lowest levels and have focused a lot on quantity/number of games and touches versus the tactical and situational awareness and learning of the game. The basic fundamentals are needed of course such as the technical but reading the article I kinda gave it a nod and I can see it being true as well.

I have a 15 year old boy and I’m almost against playing high school soccer. He is top scorer club and school but the kids in school cannot player and he is prone to getting injuries. Also HS soccer is below that of clubs whose coaches are actually trained and licensed coaches wherein HS Perhaps are degreed and just have a physical educational background. Don’t get me wrong some of the coaches actually played the game at the highest levels but not enough. For my son since he is a striker and prone to hamstring and calf injuries the less the better to extend his career as he practices with his club 5 times a week. For others who aren’t in clubs and have such a work load by all means……… if the kid can handle it all by all means.
