Okay, maybe I'll try NMS ! If you haven't done it yet, try Astro Bot Rescue Mission, it's the most immersive game I've played, it's a bit like a Nintendo game! I wish there would be a second one with VR

Also with psvr2 I heard you get the eye tracking feature that renders what you are looking at witch is a huge bonus over my quest3.

Curious what VR set you use? I use Quest 2 via Link on a Lenovo Legion with NVIDIA GeForce 1660 Ti and the graphics are barely acceptable. I encounter as I'm flying, mountains and terrain gets drawn as I approach. Several times I've hit trees because they "build" at the last second.

@@tommyjw4527 among other headsets like the Pico 3 and 4 i use the Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop playing wireless most of the time. I have different PCs i am playing on which are Ryzen 9 3900X+RTX 3070 and Ryzen 5800H+RTX 3070Laptop. I would consider those middle class and the game really struggles to run at a decent resolution/refresh rate and quality setting. I have to use SSW (which is similar to ASW using Link) being enabled all the time at 72Hz with a render resolution of 2496 x 2592 (=high), HEVC encoding and 100-150Mbit bitrate. STEAM VR resolution should always be set to 100%. In game most of the settings are at "standard", although some of them could be set to "enhanced" with minor performance drops. The game is not very CPU optimzed, which results in performance drops even if my 12 core 3900X is only utilized at 20%. If you are near a base which has a decent amount of building parts you will run into CPU limitation very fast, since the game does not seem to max out the core potential. In the end it's a game which is almost 10 years old and that shows. I also have the issue that objects are drawn while i fly over a planets surface. You can set the planet quality higher (which increases the drawing distance), but the game's drawing routines do seem to draw certain objects too late and also this option is very CPU heavy too. Even on a Ryzen 9 5950X with a RTX 4090 (!!) the game does not run perfectly smooth in VR, especially if you cruise above a planet's surface and rotate your ship. You can see the landscape stutter. Using the Pico 3 in Display Port mode is a better experience on my systems, because the videos does not have to be encoded on the PC, so the game runs noticeably smoother. And for some reason the wireless mode on the Pico 4 using the same resolution and settings in Virtual Desktop stutters more in some situations compared to the Quest 2. Nevertheless, it's working well enough for me with Virtual Desktop and maybe the overall VR experience will get better as soon as the PSVR2 version will be released.

@@leslieviljoenthe headsets costs between $ 400,- and $ 600,- with some additional accessories. My gaming PC is not that high end, but there has been quite some updates in the past months so i can play NMS with an RTX 3070/8, RTX 3060/12 PC or RTX 3070Laptop which i still have (my post was 9 months old). So a decent gaming PC should also work these days, maybe with a RTX 4070 instead.

Really? I’ve played half life alyx and it runs so smoothly and looks fantastic but no man’s sky is low res and feels so empty. Not sure maybe it’s my end

Yes. It's the reason I would not recommend playing it yet but wait for a new version. The game has been build for the first playstation vr device which does not support room scale.

Thanks for the comment buddy! I appreciate that. The fsr mod did not work for this game. But they have dlss and other features build into the game that are very similar and work very well. You should try it. Tip: turn GTAO off

I used FSRmod some time back before DLSS was introduced in game. Makes a big difference.

I've bought it with the PSN discount and I though it was going to be quite boring, specially because I remember how it was back in 2016 when I had it for PC. Wow man this game has changed so fucking much that is overwhelming, it's huge and so many things to do... It looks way better on a flat screen but it's much less enjoyable specially flying the ships

Drop all in-game graphic settings to standard, turn on dlss. Turn anisotropic anti-aliasing to two or off. Make sure your GPU fans are set to 80% or higher to stave off GPU boost dropping your clocks due to heat. Take the side panel off of your PC to let it breathe freely.

@@ElEnanoAr no I did not find the answer. Google Gemini says that the Quest 2 controllers are supported and are the primary way to play, and in this case the x52 Joystick does not work.

Yes, the game needs a very good PC to run properly. The lowest end PC i tested the game with acceptable quality and framerate was on a GTX 1070, but even on a RTX 2070S and RTX 3070Laptop you need to enable motion smoothing since the game is not able to keep up at least 72fps, which you need for a flickerfree experience.

@@msonix i am also playing the STEAM version of NMS. I am using a Quest 2 or Pico 4 wireless at the highest resolution and STEAM VR set to 100%. But i use Virtual Desktop on my headset with 72Hz and SSW (Motion Smoothing) permanently on. In game i have DLSS set to Balanced and everything else set to ENHANCED.

Yes, you can also switch between flat screen and vr mode on the same save game. You can play crossplay multiplayer, one in VR and one on console.

With dlss on performance you might! But i will look somehwat blurry!

If it has an adapter cable for your PC, then it should work as long as your PC can handle it

You can use your glasses but it's not the best combination specially in terms of adjusting the headset and finding the sweet spot. The best option is to get adapters with your prescription from VR optician or VR rock so you have a much proper experience.

The game is indeed somewhat on the grindy side. But on my rig I would rather play it in VR than on 2d screen.
