I like the concept. I would make the refractive measurements, and you would monitor for any medical issues. I am an EE, so I can make the measurements.

Dr Ryan, A great idea. I am willing to do it. I will buy the equipment, and you can guide me. That would be a wonderful scientific effort for both of us!!

The concept of tele optometry is awesome Of course now there are some large corporate players utilizing it, imposing production goals, productivity evaluations, etc. I hope independent optometrists will be able to afford the technology. We have all seen how big corporate has diluted our profession and it’s happening again as they push tele health

Definite pros/cons to technology. Over time, I’m sure it’ll become more accessible to all practice settings.

Hi, Dr.ryan i saw your video on how you are now wearing lenses after ten years of lasik surgery i got my prk surgery and after regression i really wantd to go back to lenses rather than glasses my past eye sight was -10 , after surgery 1.0, and it currently regressed to -2.5 i thought the lenses would feel a little off because of the cornea has been lasered off, but it seems like you are wearing contacts in your videos and would really love to hear what your experience is with contacts Also, heard one of the myths that the use of soft lenses could progrss the regression more-> is this true? will it happen even if i wear contacts for about 8hours a day? thanks in advance

My thoughts are: don't be your worst enemy. Doctors sold out when HMO's were introduced in the 80's. All that's left is regrets. Band together .

Warning to perspective optometry students from a 1981 optometrist ( now retired). I don't want to be a negative Nancy; but I want the new generation to know what is coming in their future. Teleoptometry will soon be price cutting into your patient base. Starting in the Obamacare era, patients have been receiving a constant message that doctors are "bad, evil & greedy". The loyalty patients once had for their ODs is eroding. I predict Teleoptomety will be targeted by cost cutters. The future will give us $ 30 Teleoptometry contact lenses. The snake in the grass is MD's who have more liberal cross state licensing, Any MD can hire an OD to do Teleoptometry--a Dermatologist MD will be able to hire an optometrist do do Teleoptometry & the OD will do high volume " optometry" from can office across the country. Unless something unseen drastically changes, optometry is becoming less worth your time, money & suffering. You Have Been Warned.

There are definitely pros and cons. However, the profession is still a very strong option for those willing to serve

@@RyanReflects Greetings Ryan: Please define terms--"still a very strong option"--also, " willing to serve"---If this means being abused professionally & economically, you can count many people out.
